In this guitar lesson, you are going to learn how to start using the three note per string system to navigate your way up and down the fretboard to play lead guitar. In order to do this, you will learn seven mini-scale shapes that use any two-string pairs on the guitar. These seven shapes are made of six notes each and can easily be connected up and down the fretboard.
If you have been stuck in a single major or minor scale box shape this lesson will be revolutionary for your playing. Take it one mini scale shape at a time and watch the power of the three note-per-string scale system come alive for you. There is even a jam track available to help you apply what you learn to some real music.

Each of these patterns are mode shapes in order ionian, dorian, phrygian, lydian, mixolydian, aeolean, locrian. Each of these can be played off of each and every root note.

True, except they are leaving out the 7th note of each mode. But I really like this approach... Adding it to the box patterns you already know

Stop. G Mixo is NOT "the C major scale started on the 5th degree." It is a G major scale with a flat 7th.

tecnolover2642 They also work “vertical” as well as horizontal on the guitar neck. “He’s only giving you half the story here.” And yes they still maintain the same sequential order vertically, just keep in mind there’s a shift (up or down a fret) with 2 the high string groups. (Because of the shift in the guitars tuning, from the G to the B string)

Sort of lower intermediate player, this really opened some new doors for me. It actually got me to thinking about patterns and how they relate to the notes of the root scale. Gonna take some practice but I think the light just went on! I ask some of my buddies when they started to play better and they all say they just sort of got up one morning and the whole thing came together for them. This really put me on that path. I'm a decent player that just needs a push to get past a plateau. I understand something very important from this and especially how it relates to modes which has been killing me. Yep I'm at the point where I need to start paying attention to playing in modes.....like learning to play pool.....you just get good at making shots every time and someone says "don't you use English?" When you start to learn English your shots go to hell....until you put it all together and all the sudden WOW! You're much better at everything. Better look out Eddie.....I'm on your trail! This one video is the single biggest change in my playing in more than a year! Thanks!!!

Woo Hop, FINALLY, Someone who left no blanks in understanding. Others gave the notes but not the order (as what tabs do) Yet others cannot follow to the end... leaving you hanging wondering what's next. Some do not even give the tabs at all, but rather s l o w play expecting you to have X-Ray vision - looking through their fingers guessing which finger is pressing what string where. You stopped me from making money, as I been working hard to get these scales, riffs, complete songs and fillers down that I could make YT videos explaining these things in a Format just like you did here. And after about 100 years I may have made $5. For You... I am subscribing !
