I saw Jimi in Chicago (The Soft Machine was his opening act). I remember the lights going dim, the hum of the Marshall amplifiers, the curtains raise and he kicked it off with “Are You Experienced?” He sang the first verse, kicked the mic stand (like James Brown) ave as he started to sing again his guitar was behind his back! The group was “tight” and loud is an understatement! Best concert in my life! And the tickets weren’t $3,700 dollars like “ Taylor Swift!” Young Lady “Rock On!”

One of my life's biggest regrets was some how my ex-wife got my copy of a Jimi Hendrix's lesson book that he wrote. I purchased it while he was still alive... That book was the basis of almost all of my lead patterns since I read it. I have to say I fooled a lot of people by just using his lessons on almost every genre I played and in a pinch I could just jump in and play lead to almost anything. (They never knew that it was Jimi's teraching that powered my leads, even in Gospel music.) As usual, you have another wonderful video!

😎👍👍👍I was 17 for Monterey Pop and attended 2 of the three days. I was just there to hear Jimi live. None of the other bands interested me. I worked in record store and heard, Are You Experienced the first day it was released in Feb. 67'. I knew from the second note when I first heard it, in the store that day, that this was something never heard before. Many people had never heard about Jimi when he walked on stage. I was in the very back of the crowd, when he first started, people in the rear were shocked from the volume! There were a growing number of hicks that started Boooing!!! He heard this and looked long at the back of the arena said something to the band. Then he started, "Like A Rolling Stone. The crowd were hushed! Like a Gasp! In that instant every heart in the Arena turned to instant LOVE with Jimi! I was there this is a fact! Not one other person has ever told this story. I could already play at least 4 of his songs.

Motörhead ec. Then in an interview in radio my heros said that their inspiration was Jimmy. That's why they started playing the giutar. I didn't knew Hendrix at this time but when they always mentioned his name i was curious about him. So i get to hear " Hey Joe " for the first time. I am 75 now and I still rate Jimi as one amazing music creator and experimenter...I saw him in Norwich a few weeks from the release of Hey Joe in UK when he did his lightning tours to promote his music in various cellars all across the main towns of England and was lucky enough to stand one meter away from him...and he must have noticed my open jaws because he winked and smiled at me a couple of times as he performed his amazing sounds... ...Almost like yesterday...you would have been hooked for sure even more then had you seen the man then..alongside Mitch and Noel... Don't forget some of the others such as BB King , Terry Kath , Carlos Santana and others that were popular but also remember many were inspired by the early jazz greats and Wes Montgomery and Kenny Burrell .

Holy shit look how far she has come how awesome. I remember I was first blown away four or five years ago when she laid down that since I've been loving you look at her now going into a fine young adult woman.

Oh man! These really bring it all back! Great playing Alyla: and it is soooo refreshing that a young musician is into JH. When his stuff came out I was on a government sponsored all expense paid vacation to the Orient.

I think Hendrix tuned to E flat because he used very heavy gauge strings intending to obtain the tone he desired. In order to make string bending easier he dropped the pitch and string tension by going down a semi-tone. That's what I've heard anyways. 25.5" scale guitars like most Fender models are harder to bend strings on than the 24.75" scale guitars any case. Miss Ayla you are a breath of fresh air!
