Modern States, google it. CLEP exam prep courses that provide you with vouchers to take the CLEP for free and then reimburse you the testing site fee. These credits are actually widely accepted too. Unless your aim is to go to some shitty Christian school like IWU where bible study and chapel service is required lol.

@ravengenevieve8831
@ravengenevieve8831 Жыл бұрын
don't forget that you will earn college credits while in the military - some of the classes you probably have to take for your deployment may be credit bearing as well. Make sure you send your JST (Joint Services Transcript) to your school to have any recommended credits added to your record and then talk to your advisor to see if any of them can apply to your major. Also, the military offers CLEP and DSST exams through DANTES and if you take any foreign language through DLPTs those are credit bearing also. IN OHIO: the state of Ohio is also pushing a lot of military credit initiatives and some schools will award diversity credit for deployments if it is listed on your DD214 or if you show some kind of paperwork showing where you deployed. Make sure you reach out to the veteran office at your school! There's a lot of options! Many Ohio schools give credits just for passing basic training even. Again, make sure to send your JST to your school! And send it along any time you do more training/courses while in the military. (hint: if you look at your own copy of the JST, check the section at the very end. There are sometimes courses that haven't been reviewed for credit... not because they aren't eligible for credit, but the instructor just hasn't sent the course info to ACE for evaluation of college credit yet. If you see something that might align with your major, ask your military instructor about getting it reviewed for college credit!)

No good school takes ACE credits. Ulimately, my preferred path is to transfer to IU for my major after getting an AA at a communty college covering general education. IU is not going to take any of those ACE credits. Only 150 school reliably take those credits, all of these companies lie about transferability. You do NOT have "1700+" options for schools to transfer those credits to. If you just want "a degree" or plan to go into business then yeah, you can piece together a degree for little money with alt credits and the "Big 3" schools that will transfer in just about anything. But if you want a GOOD education from a GOOD school, you're going to have to take ACTUAL college courses from a REAL college.
@CollegeHacked
@CollegeHacked Жыл бұрын
I don't usually respond to trolls, but on behalf of my hard-working and ambitious clients and viewers and to show them how to fight against this kind of garbage, I'll come down to your level this time: First, Harvard and IU (Indiana University?) both accept CLEP exams, which are ACE accredited. "ACE credits" is a misnomer. I don't think you really understand the American Council on Education or what it does. Yes, Sophia, Study.com, Saylor, and StraighterLine aren't accepted at many schools. So what? Second, you're living in a make believe world built by a system that wants your money. Everything you're going to learn at school is available for free on the Internet or for "a buck fifty in late charges at the public library." You're planning to spend a LOT of money (somewhere between $50k-$100k, I'm guessing) so a professor can pat you on the head and tell you you're very smart? So I have to believe that "GOOD" (which you don't define) just means you'll be able to look down your nose on other people who live in the real world? People who either (A) don't have the money for your kind of degree or who (B) are smart enough to avoid that kind of debt or who (C) have big career opportunities they need a degree for quickly? Why are these the people you want to spend your time insulting? Third, realize that the college-to-career pipeline is very messed up. People need a $100k degree to get an entry-level job? A degree in which grade inflation has been rising and quality has been slipping for decades? For jobs that increasingly require degrees that just won't be used on the job in over 85% of jobs? How unfair is that to low-income students or adults with families to support? The truth of the matter is that people who use alternative means to get their degrees are hard working, career savvy, and planning strategically. You shouldn't be looking down on them or imply that their education isn't "GOOD" or that their regionally accredited colleges aren't "REAL." You should be amazed by them and how they're trying to make their lives and the world around them better.
@No-cg9kj
@No-cg9kj Жыл бұрын
@@CollegeHacked Ah, yes, anyone who doesn't immediately agree with and praise you is a troll. Get over yourself. I would have replied sooner but I spent ~50 hours last week studying then I also volunteered at a wildlife rehab yesterday. My brain is shot lol. When people refer to "ACE credits" as a generic term they are generally referring to alternative credits from online classes, you know this you're just being pendantic. CLEP is made by the same people who made the SAT, that's why it's widely accepted. It's also not always considered equivalent either. For example, at IU they don't consider College Algebra and Precalculus CLEPs to be equivalent to their courses with that name. They give you credit for MATH 014 and MATH 025, which are intermediary classes to prep you for actual college math. Hell, some of my community college courses are going to transfer as something less(or "undefined" transfer credits) because the course content is that different. Just because 2 classes have the same name that doesn't mean they teach the same things. The fact that you took my comment as an insult is hilarious. I pointed out the fact that those credits aren't accepted at most schools and that if you want a good education you have to go to a good school. If you just want a basic business degree, then hell yeah, get it as cheap as possible(I even said that too). But if you want to be a researcher or a scientist like I do? No, you have to go to a good school, it's going to be hard work and it's going to take time. My husband wants a business degree and we're looking into the most affordable option for him because in that case it is doable to hack something together. For the record, it's going to cost me under $40k for a MASTER'S DEGREE from IU, from start to finish with a double major on my B.S.(yes, this includes the cost of my AA and my BS). Between CLEP, going to a cheap community college for 2 years, and attending part time plus summer instead of paying more per credit hour for the full time flat rate tuition, I'm spending about half as much money as I would just going to IU for all of it. The fact that you put out a number like $100k for a degree shows that YOU don't understand college education lol. But you also promote degree mill scams so I can't say I'm suprised. The only way you're paying that kind of money for a 4 year degree is if you go to an Ivy League school or go to a top public university as an out of state student. There are a lot of schools that provide far better educations than some random Christian school without costing a fortune. The fact that you think you can just google all the information(which is essentially what UoP is lol) and become educated shows that you don't understand the point of college. Most of the world doesn't charge out the ass like we do, yet they still value educational institutes as being crucial for learning. College isn't some big scam, it's just overly profit driven in the United States.
@CollegeHacked
@CollegeHacked Жыл бұрын
@@No-cg9kj I'm glad you clarified your use of "ACE credits," but the circles I run in don't refer to all alternative credits as "ACE credits." That combined with the references to a "GOOD education, a "GOOD school," and a "REAL school" and the associated implications made you come across as someone new to this community who wanted to trash it to make themselves feel good. As I read your follow up comment, I think you might be less antagonistic or trying to walk it back, but there's still some problematic stuff here. True, some CLEP exams aren't equivalent in scope to courses of the same name at other schools. No problem there. If I recall, $100k was the cost at IU for a full bachelor's degree. Can't remember if that included room/board or not, but it was the literal cost on their website. Glad you were able to make it so much cheaper. No degree mill scams here. Only schools with flexible transfer policies focused on working adults. All the work has to be done. All the competencies checked, etc. etc. Whether my perception of your comments was funny to you or not, referring to your chosen school as a "REAL school" along with the other comments, you should understand how it would be very difficult for anyone to take that as anything but an insult. This rising above it bit where you find it funny that anyone would take it as insulting feels disingenuous. If you go to grad school and don't learn humility, you've missed out on perhaps the most important lesson.

@@CollegeHacked thanks for reply! Could I theoretically use pell grants to get a one or two term ba from wgu and then still have ‘10 terms’ of pell grants left? Reproaching this at 30 with resources like you is amazing. Thanks!

Once you have a bachelors degree you aren’t eligible for Pell anymore, but you’re thinking like a college hacker for sure! 🤩

@@CollegeHacked Any hack for doctoral programs? Not talking about PhDs but like professional doctoral degrees such PsyD, DBH, DBA, etc. Wait, unless there are hacks for even PhD. Doctoral degrees are time consuming and expensive so if there’s hack I would love to hear about it. Thanks your videos are awesome.

Of course! If it doesn't matter which ones (and if they'll accept CLEP exams), I'd just start knocking out CLEP exams. They're pretty respected, and you could even send them to a college that accepts them and then send your transcript from that college to the police force. If it matters which one, sign up for a session with me, and I can help you pick them out and get you set to go! :) collegehacked.com
