Acquiring a property i.e car or building a house etc...depends on lot more factors, to or not can't be applicable across each and everyone, 2 example: 1. You earn 400k, you can't buy a car because car is not a asset, sir the day you miss an important meeting because it was raining and you couldn't drive to office is the day you understand, that car is 1 of many reasons you earning the 400k. 2. If you can afford a good a home, it can be an asset how? Acquiring a home allowed me to reduced bills by close to 70%, as I could easy invest in sustainable cheap options around: Electricity, water and more important food production like milk, eggs, vegs and through all which I do sale extra for an income. People need to know how much freedom come from renting a home. If you want to move out of that neighbourhood the following day you just get up and leave. Building a home is a liability especially earlier in life. Build rentals, let them give you an income and cash flow, you can build a home later in life.

...i think we confuse appreciation with liquidity. Income generation is liquidity enhancement. Buying a house is not. If you get sick today, you need to pay for the service now, you cannot sell a house to take care of an emergency no matter how appreciated it is. For starters, selling a house rarely happens instantly. ..
