We have to appreciate how this generation of players have elongated their top-level careers into their mid-30s. Messi, Suarez, Benzema, Modric, CR7, Zlatan, Giroud, etc - have forever changed views on football professionalism.
@saviobenitez4710 Жыл бұрын
That is due to advanced sports science, better diet, better physios, better training plan and what not. Almost in every sport players' career are getting longer and consistent. 33 is now the new 28. 20-30 years down the line footballers would be playing till their mid 40s.

Alfie you should really consider doing a video on the Bosnian men's national team, from being ranked 13 in the world in 2014 and qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil, to not qualifying for a single tournament since, yet managing to win their uefa nation leagues group, but genuinely hitting our lowest point with a 2-0 defeat to Luxembourg. Aging players, players who represent other national teams that are eligible to play for Bosnia but aren't seeming interested, just the genuine geopolitical mess that Bosnia is with how the Dayton agreement was meant to simply end the Bosnian war yet became the country's de facto constitution. I think it would make for a very interesting video, and could even span additional videos like how Velez Mostar are forced to play away from their original stadium in Mostar as it is on the Croatian side of the river, with their old stadium being taken over by Zrinjski Mostar. A club that was actually banned in Yugoslavia because of their nationalistic origin

I might be slightly biased because I consider that his contributions to both country and, especially during the last two years, for club football has actually increased, but Giroud's game hasn't stayed flat, but actually improved since 2016, when he turned 30. France wouldn't have won the 2018 world cup or reached the 2022 world cup final without his selfless contribution to the team's attacking play, and Milan wouldn't have won the 2022 scudetto without his brilliant linkups with Leao. The 2022-2023 season was actually his most prolific since 2016. Sure, his physical prowess has decreased somewhat as he's aged, but his overall game has kept on improving as he's perfected his off-the ball game, both during buildup play and as a poacher.

Damn i didn’t except an Amahl Pellegrino shoutout, but i am happy it happened. He’s been comfortably the best player in the Norwegian top flight for the past two years without earning A single Norway cap without a significant reason from our manager. He’S got flair, can produce some of the best goals you will see. He, probably should’ve made some better career moves or gotten a better agent, but is consistently class, wish he would have tried himself in France or the netherlands like most up and coming norwegians, perhaps he peaked too late.

Joselu for me, almost unheard of a footballer getting into his mid 30s getting called up to the national team. To be fair Spain tends to be one of the more meritocratic national teams and they usually get selected on form hence why there a lot of one cap, two cap wonder Spanish footballers. His story is similar to Aduriz who played at Euro 2016 age 35.

If you’re having Ream then the omission of Lewis Dunk seems a bit egregious. From a player who was seen as a one-dimensional (yet solid) CB he had the MOST Passes and Touches in the ENTIRE Premier League last season. Led the team to their highest ever finish and first qualification for European football. Received only his second England call-up recently. All at the age of 31.

He’s always been good for Brighton but he’s had to adapt as we got better and climbed the divisions. Dunk made every step (some quicker than others) and upped his game each time - so as he’s got older, he’s got better - culminating in this season where he was the lynchpin of our defense once again but also had more passes/touches than Rodri for goodness sake. Its not like when he was 24 and played 6 games in the Championship teams were beating the door down for him. And if he’s that good - why 1 solitary England cap? Finally at Age 31 he has forced his way into the squad through his outstanding performances. Southgate would be an absolute clown to leave him out.
@shawngillogly6873 Жыл бұрын

You have a great channal with many well researched videos, but you are way to stat focused (still way less than most of social media to be fair). I watched probably 90% of all of Gündogans games since 2012 and even dozens when he played at Nürnberg and in my opinion his peak as a player was without any doubt his 2015/2016 season at Dortmund, where he was just way more dominant in the midfield, espescially defensively. Don't get me wrong. Of course he is a great player and this season is certainly among his best. I just heavily disagree that this is peak Gündogan. Just look at his performance at the national team right now, where he isn't even a 100% guaranteed starter in a team with an underperforming midfield.
