I saw a video last weekend about the oldest footballer in my country (amateur teams included, but officially registered by the National Football Association of our country, the Netherlands). He was 84, and still played the first 15-20 minutes of every game of his amateur club. And it was very low level, but he didn't go easy, running around, tackels if needed. But you had to pass straigt to him, he wouldn't run on deep balls anymore. I was stunned, what a legend.

Roque Santa Cruz is still playing at 40 years old, he was meant to retire at Olimpia this year, but ultimately decided to continue playing elsewhere, possibly a Libertad (another Paraguayan club). He was still in top form between 2018 and 2019, even scoring 4 goals in one match against Cerro Porteño. Sadly, he started getting injured more frequently last year (which made him lose his previous form), although, he still made some crucial goals and assists recently in both Copa and Supercopa Paraguay.

I dread the day Ibrahimovic retires. I remember him from his Ajax days, he's pretty much my age give or take so I watched him grow older as I did. When he retires I'll have to admit I'm old - the longer he keeps going, the more I can pretend I'm not quite past it yet. The funniest one is Rooney, when he burst on the scene at 16, he made a slightly older me feel old because he seemed just a kid yet played like a man. Now the dude looks twice my age 😂 he's 4 years younger than Zlatan and was finished at the top level years ago when Ibra is still going strong. That's a crazy thought.
