People act like Koreans are the only attractive asians, and i hate it. As a ethnically chinese person, whenever someone comments that i'm pretty, it's usually followed by something along the lines of, "are you korean?" or "you look korean" even though i look nothing like a korean person. I have darker skin, a not so small nose, and a pretty round face. Just because you think i'm pretty or an asian is pretty doesn't immediately mean that i or the other asian am korean. other asian ethnicities are really beautiful too, people should recognise that.

@@itsbritney1013 As a Thai with light skin, I can assure you that Thais in Thailand are tanner because the sun is out there 24/7 so when Thais move to Korea where the climate is a lot cooler and the sun isn't as harsh, the skin returns back to its natural colour. And apparently, all the Thai lines are somewhat Chinese descent/Thai-Chinese so they're ofc fairer than what people imagine a South East Asian's skin tone. But there are some that aren't Chinese descent but have light skin tone because of melanin mutation (Recessive genes from who knows where, probably from ages ago when European countries colonized the countries or from foriegn traders who had settled in each countries, Thailand was a trading hub of South East Asia for hundreds of years and had a 'European' villiage since 200 years ago so it's not surprising when a Thai turned out looking white without having any White ancestors in the last 5 generations, I know a few Thais who are these 'mutants' )

Seventeen's Jun really looks Korean due to having a semblance with Heechul. And I also thought he was Korean until when I first hear him speak when they were rookies. For Shuhua there are angles that she looks like Korean. I've some Korean KZbinrs who looks like her. Junki's eyes or upper half of the face specially the eyes looks Korean but the lower half not so much, also the hairstyle makes him more Korean. The Japanese idols have a very different hairstyle and end of the cut is very thin (idk how to explain it) and looks more like an anime hair.

A lot of times foreign idols are mistaken as Korean because companies typically pick foreigners that fit Korean beauty standards since they're promoting in the Korean market. Some foreigners do look foreign (as in not looking Korean at all) but overall, companies try to pick those that could pass as Korean/would be widely accepted by the Korean public. Companies also try to pick the foreigners that are best at Korean because, again, they'll be promoting in Korea so good knowledge of the language is important.

There might be some people upset that this kind of thought seems like Korean is only attractive Asian, but I wanna share how I feel when I thought that some idols are Korean. East Asia like Chinese, Japanese, and Korean have different style, as well as fashion. I can say it confidently because I’m also Asian (Thai). When I mistook Mina as Korean because her face really looks like Korean and her style is adopted from Korean fashion. If there are idols who can speak Korean fluently, know Korean tradition well, adopt Korean fashion and make up styles, and some side of their face look like their senior or majority of Korean people. That’s not surprise. I don’t know it is rude in other countries or not if someone say you look like people from other countries, but in Thailand is not weird at all. Even though I’m from the northern region of Thailand, people still think and said that I have growth in capital city in central region.
