@@1Manhunt7 I'm gonna spoil it since you asked: in the movie Sosa asks Scarface to assassinate some high ranking political figure and Scarface agrees but has a change of heart when he's faced with having to kill the guys wife and kids too. Sosa sends a hit squad and Scarface kills a majority of them until one sneaks in a window and shotgun blasts him into his fountain. That's where the game begins with you trying to build your empire back up... But if you don't kill that guy that climbs through the window (like scarface in the movie) you die (like scarface in the movie)

I think the rule they're going by is "games that kill you before you can grasp the controls". Fallout New Vegas attempts to kill you in a cutscene before you start the game, and you don't have access to your character in a cutscene, so...

@@StrengthScholar0 Yes, you are. The entire game could take about 30 hours, but getting 44 levels to get 50 str requirement is like 20 to 40 minutes. Depends on your luck when getting gravelord sword from catacombs (necessary earlygame farming tool). You could technically go for dragontail sword - that's way easier, but It would be longer. Speedrunners do it even faster, that's just speed of a normal player.

I think Bloodbourne is a better fit for this list. At least Dark Souls gave you some harmless undead between you and the Asylum Demon to practice attacking before you get clubbed to death. What does Bloodbourne give you? A short hallway and some stairs. Also, a broken sword is still better than your bare hands.

In Dark souls the broken sword does the exact same damage as your fists and is slower to boot. Better to unequip it and pummel that fat ass to death. Will take about 35 minutes if you don't die.

I think Demon's Souls and Bloodborne are tied. In Bloodborne, the first enemy can easily be run away from. In Demon's Souls, you get easier enemies but then you get put against that fucking one shotting boss.

Return to Zork If you don't get the plant at the start your screwed later in game... try to take it and the vulture kills you.. also try to go down the path past the light house.. dead.. Zork games in general were incredibly brutal.. Especially since missing something in an area you only are in once and needing it WAY later and realizing you jut wasted hours, if not days... jebus cripes... the devs were total maniacs..

Infocom did this a lot. For sheer evil, there's the KULCAD scroll in Enchanter. It's possible to use it anywhere to bypass the (many, annoying) magical puzzles, which renders the game unwinnable (as you actually need it to solve a puzzle at the very end of the game). There's also the aptly-named 'Impossible' difficulty in Suspended, in which the sun goes nova after a few turns, obliterating you, the planet, and everything else in the vicinity.

Not every game kills the main character because it's hard. In that spirit, another game deserving to be on the list is the Futurama game (for PS2 and Xbox). The first missions in the tutorial is a simple task Dr. Farnsworth gives Fry that leads to the main character's death and then his resurrection using Farnsworth's newly invented Re-animator. This reveals that: 1) This game has an in-universe explanation for player characters coming back to life. 2) The Game Over screen is a metaphysical reality of the Futurama multiverse.

What about this mobile game called Gacha World? For the *TUTORIAL* Ellie sends you straight to Final Boss (yes, that's his name)! And the battle is scripted! He literally knocks you out so hard you forget literally everything and you've levelled down all the way to level 1.

I remember playing Out of this world on the genesis years ago. Can't remember how many times I died trying to get through the first sequence. It's all about timing, reflexes and intuition. Extremely difficult concepts to learn on the fly if you were a young gamer back then.

Deja Vu was fine for me (despite being fairly tough and not stingy with the ways to die), Shadowgate is a classic in my family...but Uninvited? Screw that damnable Southern "belle" (and the stupid moon logic to get past her to find the item needed to destroy her and progress) and the less said about that *thing* on the cover, the better (it's on a par with the illustrations in the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books for me).

Heart of Darkness on PS1 is a brutal game and there are so many ways to die in that game. Essentially the whole game is a learning curve and the more you progress in it,the harder it gets.

I know, forget ET Superman 64 was the worst game ever made. ET had the excuse of being made by one guy in just a couple monthes and yeah if you just play it it's wierd and confusing but, atleast what I heard, it's decently explained in the manual and does somewhat fit with the ET movie. The only thing Superman 64 had in common with Superman was a guy who flies, show me one issue/episode/movie where he just flies through a bunch of rings.

Will if you are going for the super obvious dark souls, I think the one before it demon souls be was even worst. Sets you up against a huge demon with a massive swing in a small town, no way out, gives a you tiny chance of victory and if you by chance do win, another demon comes along and one shots you. I also almost wanna say "let it die" as well, but that's more of a cut scene death then massive difficultly

Furi. You go out, it's the first BOSS. He'll give you a short tutorial but that's about it. 3 stages is not too bad but he's not gonna hold back.

But you have your entire moveset at your disposal from the very start, and game shows well how to use it. Which is nicer than most games out there which tend to start you out very limited. Except boost, which I think it never actually tells you about - found out about it only at Edge, and raged hard at how much it would had helped against Burst.

Jason Ringhofer There is a big difference between Flowey trying to kill you and THE GAME trying to kill you. If the game is trying to kill you, then you will receive a game over unless you’re prepared. Flowey CAN’T kill you, so the game itself is actively saving you.

It is actully worth killing the demon with the broken sword. You get a unique and very good weapon from it. If you run away you don't get it. Also DS3 does the exact same thing except no leg it option

It is worth it. You can't get it any other way. Also any decent weapon will require 10 or so hours to get the skills to use it. Actually all weapons better then current will mostly require you to sink in skill points in attributes.

You can also get it trading a sack to Snuggly, which you'll definitely be able to do before you get the 31 strength you need to 2-hand it! It doesn't have the *highest* requirements in the game, but it's pretty darn close.

How about Squid Adler/Volt Kraken's stage in Mega Man X5? It begins with a Bike section and a bottomless pit before the "READY" prompt even disappears. You will die in that pit if you aren't... Well... Ready for it.
