@@Hobie02425 Messi uses mainly explosion. Ronaldo had better control of the ball and was able to just dribble defenders for days. His era was a much tougher to dribble than Messi's. He played against defenders that are better than Messi's. Puyol, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, and played against Maldini in his prime. Also in that time forwards weren't protected like they are today. Nowadays forwards are given more room and less tackles due to ref giving fouls easier. Go watch Ronaldo highlights, guys would often rip his shirt, hit him, kick his shins and he still kept on dribbling. I'm sorry but saying R9 cant compare to messi is fucking dumb. If anything in terms of dribbling you cant compare Messi with Ronaldo. During 2002 WC people knew Ronaldo had 2 injured knees and people wondered if he still dribble. Cruyff replied to people saying a 60% Ronaldo is still too much for defenders.

Ronaldo embarrassed the ever living shit of defenders every game, the only difference was that after the dribble there would be a shins or a pull. It is literally fact that before defenders fouled more and got away with more tackles and rough play. If you know football than I should not have to explain this. It's a good thing tho, defenders should get the ball fairly. Ronaldo's career was heavily cut short as managers and defenders would purposely attack his knees. So I'm not saying it's a bad thing to have stricter refs on defenders, but it's something to take to heavy account when comparing Messi and the Phenom dribbling skills.

@@jayanths1221 They're 100% underrated, i often see comments like "ronaldo rooney and tevez were much better than the msn" even tho if you compare their stats on the first season they played together ronaldo rooney and tevez only scored 79 goals that season while msn scored 122 goals and they won more trophies. Another example is if you look at figo's statistic, he never scored more than 15 goals (the highest being 13) in one season in all competitions from 2000-2009, which means this guy has the statistic of a willian yet he won the ballon d'or. My point is, the meaning of underrated is when people value a player lower than what they actually are and vice versa, which in the case of present players, even tho they have the stats to prove how good they are, alot of people will still say that they're shit.

That is around the same percentage as Messi, and even 10% higher than Messi last season. Del Piero was certainly a good dribbler, but he was not on the level of Hazard and Neymar, not even on Ben Arfas level when looking at dribbling purely. You can also not really compare todays opposition to opposition back in the day. You can never know what players of today would be able to do with defenders from back in the day
