Increased Taurine in muscles after workout is more likely due to it's role in protein synthesis. The antioxidant effect can be explained by reduction of misfolded proteins, resulting in less overall waste products to be oxidised and a cleaner overall recovery and growth.

Creatine has other benefits besides just for muscle growth, it also supports with brain function which helps with focus and concentration. So I personally wouldn't take less than 5g of creatine, 10g if you are of a bigger build. I have also added glycerol to my pre workout for pumps, I have tried multiple pre workouts and stacks and the addition of glycerol with my pre workout has definitely improved my workout and my mood afterwards. My mood might be from dropping my caffeine from 500mg to 250mg though. 😅 I also take Rhodiola Rosea which is supposed to increase your energy levels and make you feel less depleted after working out, but you might want to cycle on and off if you use this so that your body doesn't get used to it.

Key Takeaways 00:40 ️ *Creatine, in doses as low as 1-3 grams of simple creatine monohydrate, can saturate muscles, aiding in energy, strength, and potentially reducing muscle breakdown, supported by recent studies.* 02:30 *Vitamin D supplementation shows promise in muscle preservation, aiding insulin sensitivity and influencing muscle retention, supported by studies on dialysis patients and research involving rats and humans.* 05:16 *Essential amino acids (EAAs) significantly increase muscle protein synthesis both acutely and over time, potentially enhancing overall muscle protein synthesis baseline, aiding muscle growth and strength.* 08:15 *Nitric oxide supplements potentially enhance blood flow and oxygen delivery to muscles, impacting muscle mass and mitochondrial biogenesis, crucial for muscle function.* 10:23 *Taurine, produced during muscle stress, acts as an antioxidant aiding recovery and potentially influencing glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity for muscle anabolism.* 13:08 ️ *HMB (Beta-hydroxy beta-methylbutyrate) may benefit untrained individuals more by limiting muscle breakdown, contributing to increased strength, hypertrophy, and recovery.* 14:33 *Beta-alanine, raising carnosine levels, may help buffer acidity during intense workouts, aiding in muscle endurance and hypertrophy, yet cycling its use is recommended to avoid adaptation interference.*

I have learned if you never come down in your reps and increase your overall weight in every movement your muscle will be confused and always be in a state of repair to handle the weight you used. If you come down(pyramid) your muscle remembers the last weight and it takes longer to get stronger. I change the rep range every month and movements every 3 months (6, 10, 8) and a power month every 5 months of sets of 3.

Agreed that protein from a natural source, beef is the way nature intended however as we know with age our digestive system slows down which means beef and other meats put us in that sluggish state of heavy digestion coupled with the fact that I’m not perpetually in the mood for as much protein as I was in the past so consuming protein in liquid form is an attractive alternative. Again when I was younger it wasn’t a factor but when you get older you’ll realize the benefits of not perpetually taxing your digestive tract which is why in my opinion supplementing becomes a viable option. At 61 I feel like I did in my 30’s both physically and cognitively but admittedly after a large protein based meal it takes me a considerable amount of time to get back to how I feel in a fasted state.

Thanks Thomas. So you have recommended EAA's, but in doing so you basically zero in on one major component of EAA's, Leucine, as Leucine availability increases with intake of EAA's as (you said) well as just increasing your whey protein intake. Therefore, why wouldn't you have isolated just a straight Leucine supplement instead of the (Leucine diluted) effect of an EAA supplement? Thanks.

Meaning you'll need about 40%-50% more to get the same actual intake as using higher quality proteins.

Great video however, a suggestion would to talk about when are these supplements should be taken
Imagine those 1900s body builders who didn’t have to take any of these supplements or have any idea on the science behind it all 😂

Ive stopped taking creatine. Ive never noticed anything at all from it. I believe it's because i already eat enough and train hard, no over the counter supplement is going to overcome that. I take protein, amino acids with caffeine( instead of coffee, morning and afternoon), vitamin d, multivitamin, and pre-work out. Save your money, just eat enough and train hard.

I had more arm in a full length cast when I tore my tricep off the bone. I normally take 3g of HMB per day, and decided to double it during the 8 weeks with the cast on. When it came off, the doctor was amazed at how little my are atrophied, and I told him about the HMB. He didn't know what it was, but after looking it up, he told me he's recommending it now to people that have to wear a cast for awhile.

HMB is also great when crash dieting. Basically it's better at preventing muscle loss than creating new muscle. It's important as a supplement that prevents loss of progress.
