suprisingly not even close. the tianjin explosion was around 3-21 tons of tnt in power while texas city disaster was about 2800 tons of tnt, the misty picture test was about 3900,the n1 rocket failure was around 2000 (i wasnt able to find a reliable anwser) , the ripple rock was over 1000, the halifax explosion was around 3000 and the heligoland explosion was the biggest non nuclear, calculated at 4800 tons of tnt. meaning that even at the top estimate for the tianjin explosion was 228,5 times weaker than the heligoland explosion. pretty wild eh? EDIT: loads have said the tainjing explosion was 336 tons of tnt, wich i didnt google enough to find out, so quick correction: the tainjing explosion is actually 14,286 times weaker than the heligoland explosion

Im from Kolding, Denmark, where that Fireworks Factory exploded and I can tell you the blast from the big explosion traveled down through the narrow streets in the inner city... Many ppl where outside looking at the yellow/orange smoke in the sky when it went BOOM.. everybody got knocked to the ground and the sound of windows being blown out all around us and in the inner city was terrifying AF. You may be the only person on this thread who has a keen understanding of just how devastating a fireworks fire and subsequent explosions can be most people have no idea how powerful the bursting charges are of the aerial shells used to spread the packets of stars Etc. Using trigonometry I once got an approximate diameter of approximately 1,000 ft spreading of the packages. And that was a little 4th of July thing at my local ballpark in Albuquerque. I cannot imagine what some of the charges are like at places such as the July 4th exposition out in the harbor in New York or Boston. No room for error with that kind of stuff.

@gabehernandez314 That explosion was in Reynoso Mexico and it was not a gas station it was a relay compressor station on a major natural gas pipe line. So something must have leaked caught fire and exploded and then the jet of high pressure natural gas continues to burn. 35 people died. This is available separately on KZbin somewhere else if you just type in Reynoso natural gas explosion. There's also an explanation. That's how I found out I'm not a genius who knows these things first hand.
