One of the best things I did to mine was to replace the manual crank with a electric one, being older and handicapped it was a great help.😊😊😊😊

That's a great idea! Do you mind sharing how much that cost?

I recommend getting a BAL level for the tire. It will make leveling the lateral dimension a breeze.
@LearnersandMakers2 жыл бұрын
That BAL level does look easy!
@paulg90422 жыл бұрын
@@LearnersandMakers yup! It's completely worth it. I just park, level the front and back and throw the BAL on. 5 minutes later, perfectly level every trip!

I think I have the same camper layout as yours....mine is a 2002 Starcraft. I love my little camper and we have gone on a few adventures here in Ontario, Canada. Hoping to make it down the west coast someday. Happy trails Wendy

Those pin locks do not prevent anybody from stealing your camper. All they have to do is get the ball, or even a smaller ball under it like normal and drag it down the street to cut the lock off somewhere more convenient. You need a coupler lock which wraps all the way around and prevents someone from putting any ball into the receiver. Pin locks are fine if you are trying to prevent someone from stealing your camper from off of your tow vehicle(when also used with a receiver hitch locking pin) but they don't stop someone from taking it when it's parked
@LearnersandMakers Жыл бұрын
Yes. It sometimes could deter someone, but if they are determined and have the tools, it's not for sure. Most of the time we always had a vehicle parked in front of our pop-up as well.
@andrewd5810 Жыл бұрын
@@LearnersandMakers that's all fine and good for you guys but that's not everybody's situation and it also means that the pin lock was not the thing that was preventing people from stealing your camper. I just don't believe those should be pitched as a security device because it gives people a false sense of security which then prevents them from doing any meaningful measures to lock up their investment.

You are correct. If someone is going to take my camper, I'm going to make them work for it. I use 3 methods of deterrence. I use the hitch pin lock along with a very heavy duty coupler lock. And around here in the Texas Panhandle, there are many trailer thefts (especially livestock trailers) so thieves have been known to just wrap the chains around the ball and drag it until they get to a more secluded area to cut off the locks. So I wrap the chains around the frame so there's minimal slack, and put a lock on those also. I worked too hard for my travel trailer to just hand it over to a thief.

I am interested in buying a pop up camper I own a Subaru Outback 2017 with a 2.5L. I noticed you have an Outback as well. How much does your pop up camper weigh?
@LearnersandMakers Жыл бұрын
Our pop-up weighed about 1000lbs dry weight. Definitely look in your owners manual what your towing capacity is. Our camper was definitely one of the smaller models.

Are you towing with a car or SUV?
@LearnersandMakers Жыл бұрын
We tow the pop-up with a subaru outback. That depends greatly on the size of the pop-up though.
