it took me years to figure out the old joke about "When is a door not a door? When it is ajar!" Seriously, I couldn't figure out what was so funny about a door that was slightly open. Also, as far as the Michael Hunt pun: the Pittsburgh Pirates once had a pitcher named Elroy Face, who continued a family tradition of naming the first born son Richard. So when his son was born he received his hopefully never shortened first name of Richard, as of course, the short name of Richard is Dick...

When I was younger, I went to a church function where you could enter your name on a piece of paper and put it in a shoebox for a drawing for a prize. I told my friend that "Mike Hunt" would be hilarious if it won, and it was. At the end of the church service, a lady preacher drew names from the box and announced the winners. She drew the name and called for "Mike Hunt" several times, and when he didn't show himself, she said, "I know you're out there, Mike. I can hear you laughing." First and last time I had fun in church.

The '60s TV Batman show had its own share of jokes a lot of people didn't get, like the names of Gotham City's Mayor Linseed and Deputy Mayor Zorty. (At the time, the real-world mayor of New York was John Lindsay, and the mayor of Los Angeles was Sam Yorty.) I have to admit, the thought of me and whomever I have as a partner beating the ever-living shit out of some idiot who tries to mug us and then taking on his or her backup does indeed bring a smile to my face. I'd love to see her kick their asses with me by her side. But that's a childish and dangerous fantasy and highly unrealistic. She could get hurt. I could get hurt. Both of us could get hurt. BADLY hurt. And what if we had kids? Who would take care of them while we'd be out of commission, hopefully not permanently? And it gets more horrific when you move on to the "permanently" part. Besides, actual martial artists tend to try to tread the path of piece before resorting to the path of pieces, so effectively, this application I presented based on what you said doesn't work.
