Unless you are playing a survival horror game, where the rule is: If it doesn't move, run past it, if it moves, stagger it and run past it anyway unless it's really fast or it's a mandatory boss fight.

I bought another PSone about a little over a year ago, just to have again because of how much the system means to me and how much I loved it growing up!!! It was literally part of the last few years of my childhood going into teenage hood, and then into being a young adult! It's at the tippy top of the list when it comes to the consoles that I feel the most nostalgic and strongest emotional bonds towards! The Xbox 360 and the Vida are way up there also!

Video game logic has been a relative constant over the last 30 years. Example: my go to strategy for big bosses in Skyrim- sneak up, fire an arrow, quickly run back into the shadows and hide until they assume I'm gone, sneak up, fire another arrow, rinse and repeat. The thought makes me want to jump back in again!

Remember getting my PS1 (or PSX as the magazines called it) on import from Mention back in the summer of '95. Had Ridge Racer and Tekken and it felt like the future had arrived now. Followed it's development in Edge and never thought it would do what it actually did. Going from SNES to PlayStation was a leap the likes of which we'll probably never see again.

This one is sort of genre specific. If you walk into a room full of zombies lying on the floor one or more of those zombies will stand up. They will usually wait until you have progressed far enough into a room so that you are strategically situated in a way that gives then an advantage in combat.

I've been gaming since the Sega Master System then Mega Drive before going through every generation of PlayStation so far even getting both the normal & Slim for both the PS2 & PS3. One thing not mentioned but still applies to some games today but was vital during the Memory Card era is the importance of saving, alot of games have auto save functions these days but back in early PS days if you died and didn't save for ages you'd have to do it all again.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes and yes! The Newb memory still haunts me. Years ago I used to grind FIFA Ultimate team. I had a great team with only 2 Gold and the rest Special. I went up against someone who had 2 Silver and the rest Bronze, including their keeper. I had almost 30 shots, with only a few not on target and around 90% possession. They had 0 shots, yet it remained 0-0, with their keeper pulling off God Tier saves. It was pass 90 mins, I was 1 on 1 with the keeper, I took a shot at 12 yards out and yet another save. They passed it to 1 of their players, who then WALKED the whole pitch, right pass my team, who just stood and watched. As they got into my penalty area, they took their 1st shot of the game and my keeper did not even move until it was pass him and in the back of the net. As soon as I passed the ball from kick off, full time was called!

I have one: Rage quitting is just empty calories. It does taste good in that moment to let out rage by throwing your controller at your entertainment center, deleting or snaping the disk of the game, or even just pulling the power cord of the console while in the middle of an online multiplayer. However, you feel the guilt or the embarrassment shortly after when you realize or you see what you have done.

One thing I wasn't aware I've learned from gaming all these years is just simply how to innately know how to use controllers and control schemes with little practice. My wife has started playing games over the last few years and it's mostly PC. So when she plays console games she's struggles to get her brain to move the thumbsticks and press buttons at the same time. Equally, she can struggle with some of the game cues in how to do certain things because she has no prior experience of this from other games. Equally she struggles with pressing buttons rapidly to do certain things like double jumps. However on PC none of these are issues.
