Going for regular FI myself, just about coast FI now, should pass lean FI in the next 3-4 years. Loved the ladder explanations, thanks for the excuse to give the ol' plan a check in.

Very sophisticated this FI thing. Coast is the most difficult to understand for me. I suppose it means that one keeps working for their income but stops making investments, enjoying the benefits of avoiding that spending.

Yeah that's how I see it too. It could mean switching to a lower pay, but more enjoyable career because they don't need to invest much once they reach their FI number. Like if they have a 100k/yr job that they dislike with a 50% SR, make it to Coast FI, then quit and get a 50k/yr enjoyable job. I think Coast FI comes with the most uncertainty though.

This video has some elements of where to keep investments in which accounts: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmPHgZZsn7WYf8k Honestly, it doesn't really matter much, you can keep the same investment mix in each account and be just fine getting started.

I thought I was at CoastFi but based on these numbers I'm just shy of it. 🤔

I think that Coast FI is one of the hardest to calculate and it comes with the most uncertainty. By the time you reach that age, it's harder to make adjustments, you know?
