as a young adult i can confirm i use streaming services too much, i watched the entire house md program on prime video in less than 3 weeks, thats 8 seasons of 20ish episodes

Personally I think having an addiction to YT is far more better than having an addiction to something like Instagram or TikTok because YT is genuinely a far safer environment and less toxic one like yes it’s bad but I would rather have one be addicted to yt than other platforms

It almost sounds like im pretty much stuck on level 4, i only waitch a max of 10 or 20 videos mostly in the range of 5-30 minutes with the occasional 1-2 hour videos either school related, game cutscenes or lore videos besides that im just reading stuff and swiping away notifications that i will probably never bother trying to see what it is

Why I use youtube: I am a music addict. I literally listen to music 24/7 which is equal to youtube addict but it is usually and entirely because music.

I was a level 4, especially when shorts got implemented. All I did was watch shorts in most of my KZbin time. I did my best to rarely watch shorts. I switched to longer content (around 15 mins - 1 hr vids). I guess now, I’m around level 3-2 (depending on how much I can interact with friends and family irl).

I watch KZbin all the time but like a Boomer watches TV/KZbin or folks watch their Netflix. I have my favorite channels with the bell on but I pick and choose who I want to watch that day. I turned off my History so the Shorts I watch are directly from my subscription page and I pay for Premium because the site is high key unusable without it. And the ADs are either for scams, bait and switch game ads, or for full on Hentai. No, thank you. I also use it for LoFi/Chillhop music and saved/created music playlists. The Almighty Algorithm is my bitch and I love it. I find what I want without having to sift through the garbage and brainrot.

while my attention span is not that bad, i do like to watch long videos documentation stuff or idk, i despise the yt shorts that youtube puts RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE LIKE, i have been avoiding tiktok for the last 4+ years and barely ever used it and now yt is almost forcing me to watch it (with the youtube shorts being promoted everywhere.) i was looking for a way to disable them appearing for me but, nuh uh!

I never really doomscrooled (exept for 1 period) but tbh If every shorts vid that I ever did save from any social media and just got deleted from the face of the planet, I wouldn't really care.
