Is it something you can incorporate now? When I lived in Seattle I had to drive 45 minutes to a decent hike, but now in Arizona it's 5 minutes away - that has made a big difference!

Thank you for sharing - it's amazing how quickly we can talk ourselves out of things. Personally I always try and always remind myself that people who are good at things started as beginners.
