One odd change (which isn't too impactful I guess) is that we dont' go to Rocket Town till later. I kinda get why we meet Cid before Vincent, but it seems like Rocket Town is going to play an interesting part. Seeing as we already got the Tiny Bronco and the Palmer scene, I wonder what will actually go down in RT.
@Sector6UK7 ай бұрын
Yeah, I'd guess if the Huge Materia plan still goes ahead in an attempt to stop Meteor that's gonna end up being our first visit there, definitely odd though and interesting to consider how they implement things.
@ohcharlie4287 ай бұрын
Im just sad that they turned cid into a basic kind hearted bore. But as for rocket town...its not really relavant until the huge materia arc anyway, so they(the production) may as well save all that work for the days ahead....i hope a rock falls on cids head or something to get him back to his horrible dirty self.
@MrFox211217 ай бұрын
So an interesting thing to note, when you first return to the Gold Saucer in chapter 12, one member of the party is at every location at the Saucer, and surprise surprise, Cid is at the space one (the legally distinct from Star Fox one) and he expresses an interest in space but the dialogue he has there does not suggest any background with it, so I think they are going to weave it in a different way altogether. I’m still excited. There was no way they were going to adapt Cid 1 to 1 with the original in this day and age so I am curious how his story comes together in this version.

7 minor changes: -Crafting system in the overworld -Getting summons through Chadley -Gold saucer is silvery -Cid is nice -Shinra Manor has a whole lab underneath -Chocobos are region specific -You fight Vincent after meeting him

I think one massive change you didn’t mention is the war with Wutai and Shrina that’s now coming. Always love your content!

Kind of hoping they open the next game with Yuffie stealing everything and running off to Wutai :3 Im not a huge fan of this games narrative direction....but heres hoping for the best in the next.

Tying the Gi into the story is GREAT, that's the sort of changes and "unknown journey" that I wanted with Remake, not this stupid "multiple timelines" crap.

If you’re in the ocean by the grasslands in Junon you can see Fort condor and the big bird flapping its wings in the back. I think it’s gonna be part of the next game
@gviinoir7 ай бұрын
Yeah. Fort condor was barely touched in the earlier segments of the original game, so I assume they opted for having it be done in a way that is only visited when it becomes relevant to the plot rather than have you visit it twice.

I was wondering what that bird and island was. It was interesting

Beat me to it.
@coreydemoss47817 ай бұрын
Seems more likely that's just a reference to let OG fans it's still there, just not relevant to the plot anymore. I don't think we're going back there in Part 3, I think its gameplay has basically been replaced by the Fort Condor minigame and its plot relevance is likely nonexistent since the Huge Materia have been changed this time around.
@gviinoir7 ай бұрын
@@coreydemoss4781 It's part of the huge materia plotline, but I see them shifting the area in a new way, and not a mini game section. More like expanding upon factions that resist shin-ra and an actual conflict with people defending the fort and cloud and the others helping during the fight.
@coreydemoss47817 ай бұрын
The most significant change in my opinion is Cloud's personality slowly being morphed into Sephiroth. He's being consumed in a way that he wasn't in the original, which I think is setting up for a much darker Part 3. Obviously Sephiroth always played games with Cloud's head, but he's taking over Cloud's entire being in a way he never has.

One thing that gets me is the Gi felt to me to be...ancient. OLD. VERY old. Jenova was from a 2,000 year old rock layer...but 2,000 years isn't THAT long. Birth of Christ, Roman Empire, etc seems a bit ago to us, but not THAT long ago. Still within recorded memory. In fact, written Human memory goes back 3x that, 2,000 years prior with the Assyrians and 2,000 years prior to that (6k years ago from now) with the Sumerians. And that's not even the OLDEST of Human records (cave paintings in parts of the world are 2x that old, 12,000 years). But the Gi here feel...ancient. Old. Like REALLY old. I don't know if that was their intent or not, but the impression I got was that they were VERY ancient. And if the Ancients fought them, it would have been while the Ancients were still a power in the world with some (military-ish) might/strength to them. Meaning BEFORE they sealed Jenova, since that action was more or less coincident in time with their downfall as a really cogent civilization. After that, the remnant of them that were sacrificed to save the planet (huh...FFXIV vibes there...) were basically absorbed into Human civilization where they lived on the down low appearing to the world as normal Humans, as Ifalna and likely her parents and so on did. So the Ancients fighting the Gi and taking their Black Materia would have probably happened BEFORE Jenova was sealed. Now, they could have been something she created, true...but consider that they would have needed to have lived and enough of them died that they realized they couldn't go into the Lifestream on death BEFORE they decided to make the Black Materia, since that was the reason they made Meteor, so that they could truly die. Meaning enough of them needed to have died and been unable to rejoin the Lifestream for them to decide that was their only escape. Now, they could have been Jenova spawn, but in that case, would she not have had more direct control over them? Not to mention Sephiroth DID go into the Lifestream, he just didn't dissipate into it. Sequence of events: 1) Gi come to the planet. 2) Enough Gi die they decide to make Meteor. 3) The Gi are able to develop whatever magical techniques and knowledge they need to succeed in creating the Black Materia. 4) Ancients get wind of this and are still a strong enough military power they fight and defeat the Gi and steal and seal the Black Materia. 5) Jenova manages to kill off many of the Ancients using her powers of deception, manipulation, corruption, and just raw strength. 6) Jenova is sealed (some time after those events). 7) The decline of the Ancients/destruction of their civilization and most of their people (could be concurrent with (6)). While "0) Jenova arrives on the planet and creates spawns, the Gi." could happen before (1), it seems clear to me that the Gi fought the Ancients (and were DEFEATED BY THEM) well before Jenova devastated their numbers to the point they'd have been too weak to do so.

One change I hope they make is renaming Corel Valley. It's that area up north after the Forgotten Capital, nowhere near the region of Corel, but is still called "Corel Valley." It's like calling a random section of Canada (or perhaps Russia) "Arizona Valley"

Rufus and glenn. In the original rufus wanted sephiroth dead. Glenn didnt exist. In rebirth Glenn has an image that represents a whisper and that sephiroth is manipulating in order to start a war. Rufus was goaded into doing so by whisper glenn. Rufus seeing sephiroth in a similiar way to cloud at the end of the game is very interesting too. The shinra wutai war will be the major event thatll lead to the reunion being a success imo. All the spite and sorrow that seph spoke of can fuel his reunion by that war. Cant wait for part 3

I'm disappointed with the way they handled Dyne, character looked great and acted great, but the most impactful moment didn't happen. Disappointed also with Cid, he showed a lot more pizazz in OG. He had better show some spunk in part 3 and light up a ciggie at least once. One thing that surprisingly I enjoyed was how Glenn was handled. I really don't like Ever Crisis, I just like how this character was used to give us a greater understanding of Rufus. Remake/Rebirth hasn't shown us a lot yet but there is so much to Rufus to explore. He is tough as nails and has a lot of hidden motivations.

I didn't see that, i saw Cloud bring the Black Materia out of the temple, then Sephiroth picks it up after Barret knocked it out of Clouds hand. Then he completes the materia/summons the true black materia from "between the worlds"

I think I might have noticed something and it's a bit scary... Doesn't Holy look a little bit too white when it falls off the alter into the water? I didn't see it turn green. Also Sephiroth killing Cloud's mom might serve as a much larger source of trauma than it did in the original. Jenova static in the flashback hints he's blocking that out. And Sephiroth described it in Remake. To remember everything he'll have to see it all...
@Micheal123mil7 ай бұрын
I've been paying attention to what they don't show us. Claudia dying, Aeriths burial. I think they are going to do a lot with 'clouds perception vs reality' a lot on the 3rd game
@ETHomerin7 ай бұрын
I'd say so too. At this point Cloud really has three deaths of people close to him, and all these deaths made him feel the emotion that Sephiroth said he doesn't have.
@St4rTr3v1Ut10n7 ай бұрын
It was like a pale green, though your TV setting may vary. I hope they clarify that
@coreydemoss47817 ай бұрын
@@Micheal123mil Yeah, yet Cloud remembered dialogue from Claudia that didn't make any sense for him to hear in his current version of events. She never says anything to him in the reality he's created where he was a SOLDIER, yet we still hear her final words during the flashback. I think this is because in the real event, Cloud fully witnessed her death but is blocking it out, and the scene in the Lifestream is going to be so much worse than it was in the OG.

I still argue, for now, that the Gi are the original spawns of Jenova on Gaia. The life created from Jenova designed to mimic the ancient and deceive them, and their current appearance is corruption over time.

It seems like the life stream is running simulations of what could happen but not writing into the record of destiny or annals of fate since that function broke. The matrix movies couldn't wrap it up coherently. But the writers are doing well for now in both remake and rebirth

You mentioned the black materia in passing with the Gi, but both the black and white materia now have entire mechanics that may or may not be completely independent of each other, and at the moment are subject to the perspective of an unreliable narrator. Gah!
