7 mile road Chevy s10 recovery

Monday the 13th of July Colorado 4x4 Rescue and Recovery went up near Rustic, Colorado to pull a S-10 back on the road that went over the edge trying to get out of the way for a side by side late Saturday night.
This was a classic pendulum style recovery where you use 2 winch vehicles, 1 on front, and 1 on back, and swing it back onto the road.
These always take a while to rig and setup, and then the actual winching goes pretty fast!

I'm surprised that tow hook stayed attached on the S10. I attached to both of them at once on my Blazer and they snapped right off.

Drives me nuts when someone pulses the winch control instead of just holding the button. So hard on the winch components.

some of us recently had a much more advanced training covering this exact topic. we're in the process of changing this technique to save wear and tear on winches, batteries, and alternators.

only one comment, the go-pro on his head is bit to shaky. Pans way too fast. Otherwise, great procedure on how to do a rescue

8:45 "...dont want to do that because its got about 10,000 on it right now...." Not really. Chevy S10s weight like 4,500 lbs, and thats if you are picking it straight up. Also, you were more in the line of fire than he was.

actually, the weigh of the vehicle on a 45 degree slope hung up on rocks can over double the weight of the truck. so that 10,000 is fairly accurate. you're not just pulling 4,500 pounds, you're pulling all the friction with it. the static camera was on a tripod so nobody was in the line of fire of any failing gear.
