Thank you for making a video for those of us in our 30s! I feel like so many financial videos speak to young 20s because it makes the most dramatic "numbers" with compounding, so this was refreshing to see

Loved the part on "enough". Your statement of if we don't find that the desire to have more will always make us poor... that was truth right there.

Ayy, that's hella career capital! Congrats on your way, man. An aside - have you seen that meme of a guy crying and saying "Please stop trying to be influencers, we need electricians"? xD That investment in your self will definitely pay off.

Good for you for going against the norm, Tae. It's pretty normal to be broke, too.

How would you evaluate whether or not an MBA is worth it? Is there an age where it getting it doesn't pay off /that/ much more? I loved being a student and when I was younger always thought I would need to get an MBA to be where I am fortunate to be now salary/position wise -- but I didn't end up needing the MBA to do it, so now I'm questioning the cost benefit analysis I did when the MBA plan seemed so certain. The part that makes me still want to get it is for curiosity about what I'll learn that could help me fast-track my knowledge beyond my years of work experience, to be able to leverage for future work/salary, and security (maybe I just haven't needed it /yet/). Weighing heavily on the other side of the scales is that massive expense that I could be investing, saving, etc instead...Lots of competing priorities in my 30s it seems.

No that's how it starts. Tiny habits over a long time and you'll get there. Always find useful info even if it's not 100% applicable right now

@@matttran7161 Matt’s exactly right. Zakk, you are gathering good info now and start consistent mini habits, you’ll be in the millionaires club. Some Dave Ramsey videos are cool to watch for inspiration for how people with modest incomes got wealthy and how rich people squandered their super high income. Zakk, you’re going to be awesome.

Re leveling up your skills. Unfortunately, time is money and it takes money to make money. It's a lot easier to reinvest in yourself when you already have a stable job. Too many folks barely scraping by to even think about the next day, let alone the next decade

It's the people who think about the future and make small changes that will eventually move from surviving to thriving. If your job pays pennies, see if they have a tuition reimbursement program. Do they have a 401k match? Think, if you can stay there for 5 years and have your college tuition paid for and receive some money for retirement, is it worth it? Will you then be able to increase your income to thrive? The same goes for expenses. Embrace minimalism, then frugality. As someone who has done this (my rock bottom was my car getting reposessed) and seen the other side, it's worth it. It's not easy, but all the work was worth it.

@tastyrick
@tastyrick Жыл бұрын
Career Capital is the skills you have not your salary. Can the skill you use at your current job be transferred elsewhere? Can you move somewhere else and make more? Conversely, if you get downsized, can you find a comparable job quickly?
