You are so right about buying gifts. The joy of giving has been replaced with anxiety and stress. We want to give the right gifts without going into debt. This can consume a lot of our time and energy during a season which is suppose to be filled with joy and love. Add to this hosting parties, cooking, baking and decorating on top of our daily work schedule and chores and it can be a very stressful time of year.

I love how honest you are in regarding to have "loved" a gift in the past just because it was branded and acknowledge that it was materialistic. What a great journey

This year again, I noticed that I am very stressed until Christmas season. I Think a lot of about what gifts do I buy for other people. I Dont want to gift random material stuff. I want to share experience, time and only things that are important and useful. This video is very inspiring! :)

Being intentional can be difficult but it makes the gifts meaningful and useful. Thanks for the nice comment Marc, grateful for it!

This is great, Sharing! I like getting consumables like makeup and skin care I love or favorite treats. Another great is pampering. A chiropractor, a pedicure etc.. alot of us want to do it but don't often have money so a gift card for a spa is nice.

This is my first Christmas as a minimalst. I've never been a huge gift giver. I've always found it a strange burden. I DO love giving meaningful and usable gifts, it's one of my ways of showing love, but I fully understand there are other ways to show love. :) I will probably just cook some good food for my mom this year

Your videos have really inspired me to change my way of living, i left a comment a few months ago that due to my exams and upcoming holiday i wasn’t able to start my minimalist journey but im back now and am going to begin decluttering tomorrow. I think ill just ask for some plants for christmas this year

I recommend sending people an amazon wishlist of what you want (affordable stuff), then you'll get something you want and is going to save money you would use, you can also give that idea to others giving so is easier fir you to give something they like

You explained everything so well. I experience stress during gift-giving occasions. I am unsure how to avoid it and save. My coworkers are heavily into gift-giving and it stresses me out when I have to contribute.

Great video. I'm working out a way of telling everyone that we'll be giving homemade chutney this year! Financially 2020 has been a blow and last year, I got myself into debt on a credit card. I've just cleared it and I don't want to rack up debt again.

As an Englishman I can confirm I hate buying gifts and it stresses me out majorly, I’m not good at getting them or thinking about them and having started to adopt a minimalist mindset it’s hard to think of gifts for myself and others

The problem with buying from a wishlist is that you lose yourself as a giver. The gift could've been from anyone and it doesn't matter. It's no different than just giving money.

Give experiences as gifts. I cannot understand why people that are not Christian even celebrate Christmas. I am not religious. I enjoy going to the Christmas markets here in Switzerland, to enjoy the food only. I rather buy things as I need something. I enjoy minimalism. Most of the time when people give me a useless gift I recycle or pass it on. Great points mentioned in this video. Thanks.

Because people like what they like. I don’t understand how people can listen to metal music, but they do, and clearly have a good time of it. It’d be a pretty crappy thing to go around criticizing them for listening to metal.
