5:45 funny how you stated medical, auto, and flood problems for emergency funds. My little brother breaks his bones all the time so it was constant doctor visits, in 2015 my mom got in a car accident then my dad's car broke down just a few months after, and in 2017 we had tropical storm Harvey flood 5 feet of our house. My parents got out of all those messes by their emergency fund! + My oldest brother has had to replace his car 3 times in less than a year, that's how he leaned the hard way about emergency funds or just saving money in general. I just started my 20's and I may not know a lot about finances, but I know from watching my family that this particular part is important!

Done all of them in my 20s 🙄🤣 it were personal mistakes and due to country issues and mentality in my country in general . but the good thing now in my 30s I’m very intentional about money - at least I do my best with knowledge I have access to.

@AshlynneEaton

Personally I would recommend paying off debt before buying a home (going into more debt) if possible. 🤍 Renting a home can be a great option! And if you’re really intentional about it, you might be surprised by how fast you can pay it off! Then you can focus all of your attention to saving for a home. Wishing you all the best! 🥰

Great advice! One thing I disagree with is closing a credit card if you use it too much. Closing a credit card can actually lower your credit score, since it affects the age of your credit. I’d say it’s better to get to the root of the problem of why you’re using the credit card so much, rather than just closing it.

I love talking about money, its like the central theme on my channel :) People need to talk more about money so Im glad you made this video! A big mistake a lot of people make is putting money in their IRA or 401k and not investing in anything! If you dont allocate those funds its just sitting in cash and not growing! Big mistake to avoid! I also think financing a brand new vehicle is a mistake, nothing depreciates faster. Even if you go with something 2-3 years old you have saved a ton of money.

That’s actually what we do! Although I pay them off weekly. 😅 The One caution I’ll add is that you just want to be careful that you don’t fall into the habit of not paying them off. But so long as you pay them off regularly I think it’s fine 🤍

My husband and I really want to buy a home within the next two years. We had to buy a car recently though and my stepson will be starting college in 1.5 years. So definitely setting a savings goal and being more intentional about it is really important to me at the moment. I'm in my 30s but this is still sound advice. Dave Ramsey's advice has been really helpful to my husband and I & thankfully we were able to pay off our student debts in 2019 🙌 but from having a stepson with disabilities definitely we have had a lot of expenses since then that have made it challenging for us to save for the house we plan to buy. Need to sit down and plan!

One year ago when I moved out of my apartment, I was so overwhelmed by all of the packing of all of the stuff I had accumulated that I decided to not by any non-consumable items for a really long time. I just looked back at my expenses over the past year for non-consumables, and I bought 3 shirts, a rice cooker, a salad bowl, and a cookie sheet, and reusable masks. I probably could've done without a couple of the shirts. Anyway, saved money and saved space.
@breec3346
@breec3346 3 жыл бұрын
Yes the tap to pay! That is super easy to do! And it’s hard to stop overspending when you have that choice! And I’ve started holding the item in my hand for the rest of the trip and if at the end of the trip I don’t want the item I put it back that allows me time to think on the item before just buying it!

I have a really hard time talking with my boyfriend about money saving. I am currently unemployed, and he’s working. He will sometimes send me money for gas for my car, and I’m really good at saving it and other money I get along the way. But my boyfriend is not the best at saving, and he rarely has $50 left in his account when he gets his next paycheck (he gets about $1,000 every other week, and doesn’t have bills every month). I feel a little selfish when I want him to save more, but I guess it’s not going to help us at all for the future if we both don’t save more than we do at the moment. Thanks for the video! 💙

It doesn’t make sense to close credit cards because you lose all the good points you built for your credit score. You can cut the card up and stop using it but you should never close the account.
@AshlynneEaton
@AshlynneEaton 3 жыл бұрын
Often, if you stop using an account it will actually close automatically. 🤍 But I think there is something reassuring for people who struggle with paying them off every month with closing it completely. It’s like actually deleting your Instagram account versus just saying you’ll stop using the app, because you have a problem with using it for more than you should. And I think in that case, the couple points you lose for closing the account is worth it 🤍
