1. Student loans. Dont go for the sake of going. 2. Buying an expensive car. 3. Trying to impress people. Clothes, shoes, phones, etc. 4. Not making a budget. Needs? Wants? 5. Not taking risks. What's the worst that can happen? 6. Not having a growth mindset. Read books. What can I learn today? 7. Buying expensive housing.

Here in the Philippines (don't judge please but cultures are different), it is the parents' responsibility to send their children to college. So as early as your child is a baby, you need to save for his/her college education. And when your child graduates from college, he/she doesn't need to pay in return. I finished my Nursing degree because of my hardworking parents.

Stay steady and you usually have more later in life. The kids leave and no more big grocery bills. Plus you have had just about everything later so you have nothing to really buy but save. Time is the key.

Not learning to budget and not having a growth mindset are really the 2 root causes of all these mistakes. You have to cut the roots to kill the weeds in your life. Awesome video!

I'm visiting from Ashlynne's channel. I enjoyed your video, Gabe and resonate so much with your mentality and approach to life. I'm in my 30's now but I feel like you and my partner would get along well. Such wise advice - thanks for sharing! I'm so grateful for the opportunities I've had to travel, live in another country, study, work, etc. Budgeting, saving and smart spending have been a game changer. I've never owned an iPhone but get cheap phones and laptops that we use until they die (5-10 years) and it's refreshing not having to keep up with all the NEW stuff. It can be hard to be content but it does shift priorities and values. Great to connect with like-minded and inspiring people like yourself. Blessings!

Omg, two of my favourite minimalist KZbinrs on a collab? So cool! Thanks for the tips, as a teen who will be twenty in a few years, I always love videos addressing advice for the younger audience. If it wasn't for having discovered minimalism at a young age, I probably would be trapped in the same materialistic cycle like the majority of people. I'm nowhere near the financial independence level I would like to be at eventually, but it's already been a mindset that helps so much, not just in terms of finance, but also in clarity of mind and space.

I'm in my late 30's, and I can confirm from experience that all of these are horrible decisions. I thought I could fix my financial problems later in life because I'd be making a ton of money by then! Dumb, dumb, dumb. Don't be like me. Live far below your means when you're young so you don't have to play catch up later.

On the college point>a lot of people should attend community college first. it's very affordable, often in or near the town you already live in, good class sizes, and often have a transfer program with a nearby university if you decide to go on to a full bachelor's degree.

I have forwarded your content onto my 3 kids - 26yrs, 17yrs & 15yrs & encourage them if not listening to mum, listen to you lol the pressures on. What you speak is absolute truth, if only I had done what you preach in my 20s. I now play catchups in my 40s & really trying to teach my kids to be different, live different, be different, think different! It will free them up in their future. Thanks again for the messages & keep preaching - it will only make our lives richer & more fulfilled in our own lives ❤️
