Strictly speaking, there is no "desert" section at all to the PCT. The PCT only skirts the edges of the desert, and offers an alternate short cut that gives you a few desert miles. The "desert" section is chaparral and mountains. To be sure; for someone from the east or the midwest, it's pretty dry. But it doesn't qualify as real desert by a long shot.

You are absolutely right. I just use that term because it is generally accepted by the PCT Hiker community.

Love my hometown of Tehachapi. Miss living there but still go as Mom still lives there. That is a long walk to get there from Campo. Congratulations. I know you’re much further now. Keep going!!!

Darla R. Thanks Darla. I love Tehachapi! Especially the German bakery. It has a small, hometown feel to it.

@@TheHikingRev Yes, the bakery is good. It wasn't there when I lived there. Tehachapi has grown a lot since I lived there.

Thanks Vickie. In elementary school I used to get in trouble all the time for being the “class clown.” I guess I never grew up.

You looked a little jumpy after the bear sighting. 😂😂. You are making this look easy. Over 20 miles every day. Oh my goodness!!! 👍👍👍

Rhonda Brumitt I don’t know about making it look easy. I was kind of jumpy. I didn’t want him/her? coming to look for me.

Kevin Sepulveda Thanks Kevin. I went to the gym everyday and did 11 to 18 mile hikes on Saturday to prepare to hike the PCT. Us “Old Guys” have to make up in preparation what the young guys have in youth and vitality.

Is it 100 miles round trip? do you need a permit?
@TheHikingRev2 жыл бұрын
This section from Agua Dulce to Tehachapi was 100 miles. I normally don’t go that far between resupplies. Not sure about the permit. I had a permit from the PCTA which covered the entire trail.
