So it was very fresh and cold year round. It doesn't hurt you to drink soda in ur water, but u have to understand it has alot of gallons in the well. So the soda concentrations is low per glass of water. Old people like my grandfather grew up during the depression, so they used more natural ways to keep their wells healthy.

I can speak for the benefit of Baking Soda for relief from arthritic pain and discomfort. I mixed a tablespoon into a half gallon water and drink it throughout the day and after five days I experienced significant relief in my hands, hips, and knees. I’ve been using it for years, buying it in bulk and stumbled upon another incredible use….I bought the largest pkg available (you can get several smaller boxes if the Costco size isn’t available), I put it around my bed, on my bed, under my bed after I found bed bug bites. I looked & couldn’t find source so I just start dumping baking soda all around my bed. No more bed bug bites, I still have it around my bed, it’s been 8 months. I just put a cotton blanket over the baking soda covered sheets, like a barrier. Bonus benefit-bed bug bites r hideous, take forever to go away but I noticed mine were gone within a couple of days where my arm rested on ‘bed baking soda’….I was not expecting this, I had been covering bites with bandaids. I have found that baking powder will also get rid of any kind of itchy spots on the skin, such as folliculitis. Mix up about half a heaped teaspoon of baking powder with about a tablespoon of water in a small plastic container, such as the plastic cap cover of an aerosol container. Thoroughly mix the baking powder water solution, by which time it should be fizzing. Then apply with a soaked cotton bud, and leave the solution to dry out over the spot. After a few weeks or so, the spot will have gone completely, and the itchiness should be gone a lot sooner. Caution is required, only try it on one spot at a time and see if it works ok without any skin irritation, then you're good to go.

Baking Soda makes a great scouring powder. It cleans coffee and tea stains and many other stains and does not scratch. Just dampen the surface to be cleaned, pour some baking soda onto a plate, dampen your fingers and dip into the baking soda. Then rub the stain with your fingers. You will see the baking soda change colors as it removes the stain. Rinse and repeat as many times as needed.

Um, Therese, no. Acid reflux is stomach acid and bile RISING in the esophagus sometimes making it all the way up into the mouth. It causes a burning sensation and can be uncomfortable. And sometimes dangerous. Over the counter medications like Tums are called “anti-acids” as they have ingredients that are alkaline and balance out the acids in the gut. But plain ole baking soda and water do the same thing as baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is the main ingredient in the OTC’s. I’m not sure where you got the idea that acid reflux is a LACK of acid but that is incorrect. Look it up or ask your doctor. 😉🌹

@@robinholbrook6576 Please dig a little deeper and you will find that acid is the trigger for the valve that closes the stomach from the esophagus. Gerd is from a lack of stomach acid not an excess. Baking soda will alleviate the symptoms but is not a good long term solution.

Baking soda is not bad for the skin you can combine it with your favorite oil like coconut or olive oil for your skin. Also good with aloe Vera or just a little bit of cold water but l wouldn’t do it every day. It works as a natural exfoliate. I have used it to wash clothes dishes, bathroom, jewelry, put it in my shoes so they don’t stick. It keeps your skin soft when combined with other ingredients.

My mother was an avid baking soda user. She brushed her teeth, rinsed her mouth, took it for heartburn, day in and day out. Baking Soda can also relieve Gout. One tablespoon a day for a couple weeks. The relief is almost immediate, within 20 minutes the pain and swelling will begin to disappear. If Gout begins to return, one tablespoon will stop it in it's tracks.

Vinegar and baking soda clears drains without harsh chemicals. Use a funnel if there is water in sink. Also mix baking soda with shampoo if hair is really oily or dirty. Don't use regularly, it will strip natural oils from scalp. Just when a thorough deep cleaning is needed.

Regularly treating acid reflux with sodium bicarbonate is not adequate treatment for heart burn. You need a prescription proton pump inhibitor, otherwise you could wind up with esophageal cancer from the repetitive burns from stomach acid.
