Boy oh boy is the timing of this video perfect for this 60 year old, hooded eye gal... My lids are so hooded that even with primer I struggle with keeping eyeshadow on .i will be trying a few of the techniques you shared today as I am going out to see "Frozen" on stage with a friend. My lids actually touch my eye lashes and if I concentrate the eye liner on the outer part of eyes I end up looking chinese which is fine and all but I am not, lol, Oh the struggle is real and it's all my mothers fault, she struggled with them as well which ultimately came from my Grandfather. Thanks fro sharing dear ~ HUgs, Gale The Happy Stamper :)

Hi, Gale--Yes, the challenges that get passed on to us! I inherited my mother's very thick ankles which I call cankles! My hooded area is also getting close to touching my lashes. My best friend had surgery a few years ago that was covered by insurance since it was really affecting her vision. I'm hoping that's not in my future, but I guess we never know. I hope some of these techniques will work well for you. It is amazing what the smoke and mirrors of makeup can do! And I hope you have a wonderful time seeing the theatre version of Frozen. That sounds like so much fun! Have a very happy and healthy New Year, dear lady.

I loved the video today, Elise. Such great tips!! Ive had hooded eyes ever since I got into my 30s. Or at least, I've noticed them. But in my family we have that extra fold so our eyes look Asian. (Although we are of Scandinavan descent, and apparently its a genetic thing for some Scandinavians. I have photos of great grandparents from Sweden going back a couple hundred years and its clearly noticeable in some of the ancestors.) I love that classic eye look. Its beautiful and simple. I used to wear it a lot when I was younger, with a red lipstick. So 1950s I thought. One of my favorite eras for fashion and makeup. The lash curl with the finger trick is fantastic. I would never have thought of that. I hope you have a very Happy New Year, Elise!!

Hi, Johanna--How really fascinating that you're able to go back to photos of your great grandparents and notice that same eye characteristic. I was just checking out some interesting information on 2025 makeup trends and bolder lips might be on the horizon--especially cherry colored lips and the frosted lip look. I think you may see an upcoming video on these trends lol! That lash curl trick is so easy and works so amazingly well. Wishing you a really happy and healthy new year, Johanna. And thanks so much for your always fun and lovely comments. I always look forward to hearing from you!

@EliseMarquamJahns Thank you, you're too kind. Really. Yes, old family photos are so amazing....my husband has a lot of his family as well, going back to the early 20th century (1920s, 30s, 40s etc). We found a picture of his mother's mother when she was 12. We realised that our oldest daughter, who was 12 was a DEAD RINGER for her! In fact, as a joke, we told people it was her dressed up in old fashioned clothes, and even his sisters fell for it. They had no idea. My youngest sister, when she was in her late teens/ early 20s, looked exactly like one of my great-great grandmothers, on the Swedish side of the family. I find it fascinating how our genetics can combine and recombine to produce such incredible results. Looking forward to a year of more terrific videos from you. I wish you and your family "Gute Gesundheit" this year and many years to come.

👋🏻 Elise, I saw an old photo of myself the other day and realised that I have always had hooded eyes 😅 My other problem is to do with my eyebrows. I have an under active thyroid and consequently my eyebrows have all but disappeared, takes some work to get them looking just right. I have noticed that neither you nor Sharalee use mascara on top of your upper lashes. I was told that there will always be someone taller than you that will notice so I still give mine a quick swipe. I do hope that you and your family have a happy and blessed New Year. Take care xx
@EliseMarquamJahns22 күн бұрын
Hi, Pam--That's so interesting to look back at old photos. I'll have to do that as well. I love your thought that there will always be someone taller so it's wise to give the top of your upper lashes a swipe. Since I'm 5'9" (however, I've shrunk a bit the last few years), I never gave that much thought but maybe I should now! lol Wishing you a happy and healthy New Year as well.
@PamPenfold22 күн бұрын
@EliseMarquamJahns at 5"2" and shrinking fast I think that I will carry on with a quick coat! 😂 I am going to try the finger trick on my eyelashes though as I have a bit of a struggle with curlers, they look like an instrument of torture 😱
@EliseMarquamJahns21 күн бұрын
@@PamPenfold Hi, Pam--I have to admit I've founds those "instruments of torture" even harder to use on my lashes as I've gotten older! The finger trick is definitely a quick and easy alternative.

Hi, Sherry--My eyes have really become more hooded too in the past few years. Thanks goodness for the amazing magic of makeup, right? Have a wonderful weekend, my friend.

Hi Elise! I love your videos. I learn something new every time I watch. I don’t remember seeing you or anyone putting concealer under the corners of the eyeshadow. That makes so much sense and I can’t wait to try it. I’ve seen it placed at the corners of the eye and out & up but this looks it’s more impactful. Would it also help keep your eyeshadow or liner from smudging? Have a blessed day Elise and a wonderful weekend!❤
@EliseMarquamJahns22 күн бұрын
Hi, Lisa--I hope you'll have fun experimenting with this technique! That's what's so fun about makeup! Not so sure about it keeping eyeshadow or eyeliner from smudging--but patting setting spray on could make a difference. Sending warm wishes your way, Lisa, for a very happy, healthy 2025.

Those eye shadows are perfect shades for you 😊 Like you, I have developed a real fondness for the Tower 28 mascara. I recently got a tube in brown which I tend to prefer but noticed a real difference in the formulas. It just does not apply or perform as well somehow, as if it is pre clumped in the tube already and things just gets worse from there . I’m wondering if anyone else may have had a similar experience. Your blouse, on the other hand, is fantabulous! Hope you had a lovely holiday ✌️
@EliseMarquamJahns22 күн бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind words! How interesting that you've noticed a difference in the Tower 28 brown mascara formula--what a shame. I hope this doesn't signal a formula change with all their mascaras! We did indeed have a lovely holiday. Warm wishes to you for a wonderful year ahead!

I heard a utuber complaint about this very thing so I didn’t buy it. I would love to find a good brown/black shade though.
@fauxtaux22 күн бұрын
@@EliseMarquamJahnsI think the difference between the colors is due to the pigments being used being different rather than a formula change but I will keep you posted.
@fauxtaux22 күн бұрын
@@lisapierce525oh, interesting. I so want the perfect brown mascara. Not too dark (the brown/black formulas of yore) nor the newer milk chocolatey ones combined with a formula that rocks. I was so excited to try the Tower 28 and so disappointed with the results. Another test product that is working better for me right now is the Tartelette tubing formula in brown. I bought the YSL lash clash in brown during holiday sales but the cost is so dear that I have not yet opened it to start testing. 🤷♀️

Hey Elise, those were a lot of good hooded eye tips. I think the one tip that will help me the most is using eyeshadow to make the triangle. I can already tell it's going to take some practice, but it will be well worth it. I'm going to try all 7 of course. Thank you for the video, I'm going to save it just in case I need a review. God bless you and yours. Lynne from Tx. Happy New Year 🎉 p.s. Do you have any trouble with the eyeshadow fading when you use it as an eye liner on your bottom lashes?
@EliseMarquamJahns23 күн бұрын
Hi, Lynne--I'm so glad to know that you found these tips helpful and I greatly apprecite your letting me know. Thank you! You're definitely right that it does take some practice but will be worth it! As to your question, I haven't had any issues with the bottom eyeliner fading, but if you do, one option would be to gently tap on a small amount of setting spray over it. I hope this will be a wonderful New Year for you and your family, Lynne.

I find brown eyeliner looks very clownish on me, I think because I have cool skin tone and green-blue eyes. A navy or light blue eyeliner looks much better. Black has never looked good on me-too startling for this fair gal. Thanks for a helpful video. (The primer connection puts me in the French Sephora but that provided a laugh😀)
