I know this is a minor thing in the grand scheme of the class, but the transition from Arcanist to Summoner feels a lot smoother mechanics-wise then it used to be. The core rotation is introduced within the first few levels, and is then fleshed out throughout the rest of the levels. Lore-wise, I like how everything is tied together. Cut gems - Geometry - Magic Math - Magical Constructs. And as the bookkeepers of Limsa Lominsa, a pirate Town of trade, the Arcanists see their fair share of gems. The class just feels a lot more cohesive now.

Smn has my main dps since heavensward, and we have gotten 5 different versions of the job over time. Current smn is amazing, only improvement would be to have the dots back and bigger summons. It's also fun to tell people who complain about summon size that their size is changed client side.

I love the changes to the class! makes me feel like a more like a summoner from the earlier FF games and i haven't gotten bored with the class like i did with it when i first started in stormblood:) (course that was mostly bc my bf wanted me to play with him so he was lvling a summoner with me and everything was dying waay to fast in the overworld and i felt like i wasn't doing anything so i got bored) LOL :)

Cole I totally feel you sch and summoner just are my babies too I love the style and flash they have and just lore wise they are amazing. And it just so satisfying to summon this primal god to bitch slap your enemy lol. My fav is Phoenix I know this is strange but I love the bird call it does and how you fly up in the air to cast your spells. Keep up the great work hugs.

My one complaint right now is that as a Caster, I hate being FORCED into melee range. Like, I don't mind going into melee on my own, but I hate the force part of it. A part of me wishes that Ifrit either (a) didn't force you to melee OR (b) the second hit would teleport you back to where you were before (and that the combo wouldn't break while still in Ifrit). I feel this would give a ton of nice utility in the case of (b) and in the case of (a) would just be...nice I guess. Would need a third button, though. But 7.0 SMN will likely add a third button OR add 3 more summons for post FBT (or both...), so who knows. But that's really my only complaint with it right now. That and people complaining it's "too easy". Get out of here with that nonsense. Go play NIN or BLM and leave us alone having fun with SMN. :p

Here's hoping this Video will need an update after they add new Egi Glamour that allows you to summon other Classics like Leviathan, Ramuh or Shiva (can't be more awkward than Phoenix lorewise). One can dream...

The job doesn’t feel finished, the good damage and utility doesn’t make up for it. Many summoner mains have switched to red mage or black mage. It gets boring too quickly

"A completely different style to gameplay functionally" is a funny way to say "You do glare spam like a healer but you never need to do any healing.". "The least button bloat in the game" is a funny way to say "There's barely anything for you to do". "Your gameplay style changes a lot" is a funny way to say "Your spells get different looking effects but otherwise do the same thing".

reasons not to play smn. 1. it' does not have a actual caster playstyle so if you play it you arnt playing a caster you are playing a physical range only 2. no actual build variety you always go for spell speed 3. no room for growth, the rotation is very ridged and there is no actual way to improve on the class. always titan or Garuda first 4. everything smn can do the redmage does better 5. the class only feels good at level 90. anything lower it feels like a class stuck at level 60. 6. if you want a class with complexity stay away. 7. smn can be made into a 1 button macro that does top dps

Imo summoner went from the Best magic dps class in shadowbringers to the most boring and worst half caster/half phys range class. And now feels incredibly boring stripped down and bare bones. Interesting video regardless but definitely disagree.
