Completely agreed with what you said about Elden Ring. Beat it after 130h, once DLC came out I tried playing again with a new character, got burned out after 7h. It is just not as fun once you know how everything works, even worse, game becomes tedious once you understand that the world is empty, characters are barely there, questlines are too obtuse and unrewarding to finish, crafting is borderline useless outside of some buffs which you only need for Melania and the Elden Beast.

Totally agree, it’s lost a lot of its charm for me over time

the world is most certainly and objectively not empty, unless youre talking about npc count compared to other games ofcourse. disagreed with most of the lore statements too.

The world is empty? That's the first time i ever heard anyone describe it as that
@flamingmanure9 күн бұрын
@@frank.garcia10 frankly its the opposite for me, especially since the world is not empty at all and has a laughable amount of higher quality stuff and combat than 99% of other rpgs. i gotta say, also substantially disagree with your bornerline reduction of the lore of elden ring, not every story needs to have all details filled out and spoon fed to you, and its also objectively false to say that all lore implications by the fanbase is random conjucture, at the very least 80% of the lore is based on direct statements, youre also ignoring the environmental storytelling, which fromsoft do best by a gigantic margin, many of this has been stated by the devs themselves, i think this storytelling method is that being said, i like your content and earned yourself sub my friend!
@flamingmanure9 күн бұрын
@@MillerTheOriginal been hearing this critique alot more lately but it seems rather...not to be rude, but rather mindless since its kinda objectively wrong. elden ring has one of the densest most complex content in open world history. theres something new to discover every 2 mins. by his logic all games are empty once you "discover" them.

Your comment about JRPG’s hits home for me 100%. They’re beautiful and I love that people love them, but I just can’t immerse in them. Love your videos.

I recently tried metaphor and actually thought it was pretty endearing but JRPGs do have so many issues for sure. Thanks for taking the time to watch
@hosswik6 күн бұрын
@franklygamingextra I think you are going to broad with the labeling there, not that I fundamentally disagree with you. JRPG’s are one of the catch all genre where dozens of different styles get crammed into one overstuffed box. There are thousands of JRPGs that have no anime elements, but I get what you mean. Personally I have been calling these types of games, Anime RPGs instead of JRPGs since FF0 came out. For me I love most of the TBRPGs under the JRPG umbrella, but I try to avoid most of the ARPG ones, but NIER was worth the experience.

I love Elden Ring, it is the best game for me right now. I love the obscure lore and how it is presented, the environmental storytelling is great, the build variety and the combat are perfect. Succesive playthroughs feel different because now you can overcome the same challenges in a different way. I basically love everything that you did not like about the game.😅 The first playthrough is for sure different as there is the mystery and discovery, and if you do not like everything I've mentioned above, there is nothing for you in successive playthroughs. So you frustration with the game is understandable.

Tyranny sounds like a D&D setting called Midnight. Sort of a "what is the dark lord won" situation.

Why is Elden Ring considered an RPG ? It's a good game but are there really choice and conséquences ? (other than choosing your build)

Elden Ring... yeah, 100% doing that after I finish DS2, and DS3... thought he question is if I wanna do Jedi Fallen Order before or after ER.... Outerworlds.... yup, doing that later as well, cuz I got it free on Epic and it looks like Fallout mixed with Borderlands :) Neir Automata..... tried it, PC died.... will try it again at some point Tyranny..... ok yeah game looks good, and I loved Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2 (PoE is easly in my "top 10, similar to RPGs that are similar in controls to Baldurs Gate" list, I know they are called CRPGs but.... technically so is Borderlands, or Fallout, or Digimon World New order so I dislike calling them CRPGs cuz its 2 braud a genre)

Really happy to see more people are starting to become disilussioned with Elden Ring. The game just isn't as good as most previous Soulsborne titles. It's extremely bloated, you could easily cut away 50 - 70 hours of "gameplay" by streamlining the overworld and removing copy pasted forts, catacombs and caverns with normal enemies as bosses at the end. Chalice dungeons were the weakest part of Bloodborne and here they've taken the concept to a whole new level, and not in a good way. Bosses are an exercise in frustration due to their insane damage output and anime movesets, which turns most fights into a roll festival where you get little to no time to actually meaningfully learn the bosses attacks. The charm of Soulsborne games have always been the slow and steady approach to combat encounters and how you can feel out each fight with the basic knowledge you learn in the moment to moment gameplay. Being bumrushed by a giant wolfman doing anime flips and taking 95% of your health in one swing despite your massive 100+ Vigor is not difficult, just frustrating. The best parts of the game are the more linear "dungeons" like Stormveil and Raya Lucaria, because those locations are actually deliberately designed in the same manner as older Soulsborne games. Having an open world isn't worth it if the flow of the game suffers from it. The worst part about all of this is that it's impossible to criticize the game online, because you get bombarded by "git gud" or "skill issue" strawman arguments. I've beaten the game on RL1, trust me, it's not a skill issue. The game just isn't fun to play. Let me also just say that while I hate the GAME Elden Ring, I really love the WORLD. The lore is as good as ever and the scummy, rotten, alien soup of world building is excellent. It is also a gorgeous game and it probably has the best visual enemy and boss design in From Software history. Rant over. Thank you for reading. Have a good day/night.

Can't believe I've found someone who agrees about Elden Ring. I've thought this about all their games and with me being a player who really appreciates Strong narrative, I found myself just skipping anything that was trying to present itself as "story" when playing their games. I don't know why they hired George R. R. Martin to write the story, if they were just going to do nothing with it. Or did they just pay him to use his name on it in order to get fans excited to play the game?

2:00, THANK YOU! I have an absurd amount of hours invested in Elden Ring; I think I have 6 characters in total. What kept me going for so long is that I love the world of Elden Ring set up BEFORE Shadow of the Erdtree was released. It appeals to nearly all of my creative proclivities. With every new character, I just got to imagine how they could flesh these parts out with the DLC. When Elden Ring first released, I was actually disappointed that they continued to use the Item Description to tell the bulk of the story that they've been using for over a decade now. But with the family dynamic and how they set up certain parts of the world to be explored, I have never been more excited for an Expansion, hoping they'd learned lessons from the base game to wrap this story up. And boy was I disappointed. Instead, they added a lot of nonsensical new topics and ideas that are never explained. It's vague for the sake of being vague; it establishes new concepts without ever exploring them. You're just supposed to take them at face value, and nearly everything they built in the base game is now worse because of it. All those hours speculating were thrown to the wayside that it upset I gave it my appreciation in the first place; it's a mistake I won't make with them again until they prove I should.
@flamingmanure9 күн бұрын
disagreed with most of your assessment of the dlc, i think its the best story content they ever made, better than bb and ds3 even, what parts do you think are nonsensical exactly? sounds par for the course for most fromsoft dlcs. many answered questions, many new paths, and many new unanswered questions. also i do not want fromsoft to EVER stop using item descriptions, cutscenes, environmental story telling and community activity to convey their narrative, and neither will they ever stop doing that while miyazaki is at the helm since its his favorite method. its fine if ppl dont like it, not everything is designed to cater to everyone, but theres nothing inherently wrong with it, and you can seek other games with the narrative style you like if you want that fix, but this stuff aint never leaving fromsoft and its one of the main reasons i love them to death.
