I took a long breather and unlocked a safe house close to where the chase starts prior to this. I waited until the chase was done, and high-tailed it to the tower. Gladly, I am at a level that with a well placed attack can kill them straight on, but back then I was terrified. I still don't go out at night, unless I have to kill a bolter. Still careful, though. I use the cloak potion, but the evolved volatile is still a problem.

Oh trust me kid you are not a veteran until you have tried modded difficulty... After completing all side quests and missions completing the game 100 times and killing 200 thousand of every zombie and done every difficulty lots and lots of times and spent since the exact release played constantly. I have gotten every weapon and gotten every legend level HOUR AT A TIME... Well hello fellow veteran how long have you played?

Quick note on ReDeads: - In Ocarina of Time, they are indeed wearing masks. I've never played,, but those guys reminded me of the "cranks" from the Maze Runner movies which were unfortunately not book accurate. In the movies, they looked like that except instead of mushrooms, they had stiff flesh tendrils sticking off their bodies. They also fused with the walls the same way. Cool concept, should have put it in a different movie.

Agreed. As scary as the other enemies are, they can all be beaten quite simply by just shooting them. Regenerators require precision and discipline. Missing just a few times can put you in an "Oh shit!" situation. Engaging them can make you sweat...which you have to do since most are encountered in tight halls.

Yo I just played RE4 for the first time knowing the regenerators were coming but they still spooked me. They give me so much anxiety. They look slow but move incredibly fast when they want to and shooting off their legs makes them move faster. They end up slithering like a snake instead. They are horrible and I love them

The Elderscrolls: Oblivion - those zombies ignited my fear of zombies. They are awful. (Especially the headless ones) it's like "Hi, I'm zombo. I'm super slow and underwhelming... HAHAHA PSYCH IM ACTUALLY SUPER F****** FAST". Being an archer, the panic was real.

That was the first ever game I played that had horror elements. I was NOT ok. Weirdly, later doing it while getting the achievement for not firing a single bullet was much less stressful. Gravity-gunning the saws around is very cathartic. And absurdly effective.

ekrathrawl it is indeed very effective... unless you miss and it sails out of reach. Waiting for the lift to come over was very stress inducing. I ended up running out of saws and didn’t want to ruin my achievement but managed to find a spot where I was safe to stand, lol.

Multiple suggestions here for a commenter edition: 1. Weepers - Dishonored It took me so long to get over these things when i first played Dishonored, i’d always make sure to use the stop time ability just before i entered an area with weepers in it so that i didn’t have to fight those bastards- 2. Nest Keepers - Dishonored 2 While not as scary as weepers since they don’t attack, their real scare factor happens if they see you, they’ll scream and get every bloodfly in the area to sting you to death, and those things make my skin crawl...especially if they come in swarms... 3. EVERY. SINGLE. ZOMBIE. In CoD WW2’s “Nazi Zombies” multiplayer mode I remember screaming so much with my friend when we first played it together cuz of how creepy everything about the zombies were, And it got to the point where we just put the controllers down after we died and never touched that game mode again 4. Screamers - Dying Light It always took me days of mental preparation to take on the mission where you first meet one of those bastards... And the fact that it’s a CHILD just makes things worse... 5. Fallout 4 - Ghouls Specifically, the ones in Dunwich Borers, Ever since my first encounter with those things, i never went back there without Nick as my companion (or any companion for that matter...), and some heavy hitting weapons...

Scariest Zombies for me had to be the Licker from Resident Evil 2. I remember my first encounter with it. Played with my siblings and when we got that iconic cut-scene, oh my god, why did they threw the control to me?! Why!? This thing still haunts my nightmares and RE2 The Remake made it even worse. You forget some: 1) System Shock 2 have some alien paraside zombies that beg to be killed (because they were still aware even if not in control!). Creepy, disturbing and sad at the same time! 2) Thief (1 and 2) have some creepy sounding, hard to kill zombies, realy scary they were (and still are)! 3) Stalker have zombies that can use guns! They cannot aim, and are not that fast but so creepy as they look almost like normal human stalkers! Also honorary mention to Snorks (not technicaly zombies but damn close to them and scary as hell, especially in a dark underground).
