What do you mean, where’s Fallout 4 and 76’s Feral Ghouls?!
@combineeliteunit87694 жыл бұрын
technically not zombies, their just immortal feral humans
@spacejesus65814 жыл бұрын
Fallout 3? Come on going from Galaxy News Radio to the Mall for the first time going the way it tells you is horrifying, you go through like 5 subways filled with them with no rest stops or anything, only to then be ambushed by a ton of super mutants as you run to a area you can fast travel back to
@marhawkman3034 жыл бұрын
@@combineeliteunit8769 If you go that route then Rat king wouldn't count since it's a fungus infestation.
@combineeliteunit87694 жыл бұрын
@@marhawkman303 technically no, the Rat King is comprised of multiple reanimated corpses, reanimated through the cordycep fungus. Ghouls are just mutants that suffered from the FEV virus, mutating their genetics and giving them a pretty near immortal lifespan. Ferals are those who have lost the sense of reason due to higher intake of radiation, though their technically not undead. The only being that’s not undead in Last Of Us is the Runner, acting almost similar like a feral human. Once the Fungus starts stage 2 the host is pretty much a corpse
@marhawkman3034 жыл бұрын
@@combineeliteunit8769 Actually Fallout lore suggests that Ghouls ARE undead. They may feel hunger, but they can't die of starvation.

Runners were scarier than screamers in days gone. You learn to deal with both of them eventually but the runners were the only thing capable of catching you on your bike, that and a sniper, because apparently they can also shoot through solid mountains.

When I first played Halo 3 (the first one I ended up playing because my cousin introduced me to it) when I was around 11 or 12, encountering the flood actually was something that made me want to stop playing. Not at first: they aren’t so bad in the light and with a friend, but when I tried it in the solo campaign, I was scared enough by the time you had to jump into the massive pit that I couldn’t go on (after jumping in and having massive swarms of zombie-like aliens run at the speed of sound in a series of dimly-lit, blood-colored corridors with the texture of flesh).

The creatures in the first Uncharted game got me good. The level where you're trying to get the power on and all the lights are red while zombies pop out around the corners is proper scary.

How about Lich from Arx Fatalis? Those guys are really true to their name having large amount of health, horrifying in a good sense design, and having a great magical abilities able to turn invisible, summon zombies, paralyze you, and simply laughing scary. Also at some point the game throws two of those bad boys at you.

My favorite way to fight Banshees (as a Vanguard): biotic charge, couple shotgun shell hits while backing up, hit em with a nova charge, wash, rinse, repeat until dead. Kinda feels fun to be able to be like "you aint special, I can teleport too!"

The child enemies in Dead space 2 always scared me more than the stalkers. With the disturbingly authentic screams they make when you kill them, or the fact that the exploding ones often make crying baby noises

What about the Feral Ghoul Reavers from the Fallout 3: Broken Steel DLC? They looked horrifying, are outright bullet sponges, hit like a speeding Corvega Highwayman, and throw pieces of themselves at you which explode like radioactive gore grenades; also, they are often found in large packs of Feral Ghouls, sometimes with other Reavers. I don’t think I need to say more than that.

I know it's not a video game, but I think one of the freakiest zombie types is from the book "The Girl With All The Gifts." The corticeps zombies in that book hold perfectly still like statues until they spot movement, smell human pheromones, or hear something they think might be a person. Then they leap into full speed with inhuman quickness and chase down the prey. Hitting them in the head won't kill them, either. Best you can do is take out their legs so they can't run anymore.
@nekonekomikan4 жыл бұрын
10:30 Banshees also had one other issue that made you fill with dread when spotted ... magnet hands. They could suck your character back to them if they decided to insta kill you even if you got 3 meters away from them.

Another detail about Halo's Flood, they don't die unless you completely destroy the body. A dead flood can just be revived once again by an infection form, and in Halo 1 they just get back up on their own

Teleporting, psychokinetic, armored, force field generating techno-zombies capable of homing energy blasts. Gets named "Banshee" because of the unnerving shrieking. Thanks for not putting a warning on the label, Asari... Seriously, though, thier introduction was an excellent and creepy slow burn. One of my favorite atmospheric moments in ME3.
