Damn, this took a loot of time to do, but it was 100% worth it, a month ago i saw a video with the tittle "3 Seconds of Every Episode of Vinland Saga" and it was such a masterpiece that it inspired me to do the same for Frieren as a love letter to this beautiful anime. (I've also just realized that TOHO animation uploaded a video with the same song 6 days ago and now it seems like i've totally copied them :P)

In my almost 30 years of life, id never enjoy so much a "boring" story like frieren. Not your typical adventure to slay a final boss in anime, but rather a story of reminiscing those adventure with such beautiful take. Truly one of a kind anime, 10/10.

@@ZonnH try mushoku and Re zero theyre not a relaxing story quite the opposite but if you know world building and lore youll like these shows be prepare for -saddness- dispair with Re zero and feeling uncomfortable with mushoku becasue if you feel these feeling you'll like you're "normal" but under that there is two amazing storys, Dungeon Meshi is great too.

A strange anime, no shouting, no exaggeration, no overjoying, crying. There are no overly humorous scenes, no buffs to the strength of friendship, spiritual strength, love. It is completely contrary to the standards of a normal anime film. An anime that is 90% conversation that you can encounter anywhere in life.

It really is unique, and is a breath of fresh air. Unlike most animes, it’s just calm with little bits of humor peppered in, as if it were a slice-of-life series. Other fantasy animes I’ve seen are mostly comedies and rely more on strange premises. Comedy isn’t bad at all, but some “funny scenes” in those animes are too overly silly that it gets ridiculous and feels cheap, and while they try desperately to be “different”, they still end up using common clichés. As for Sousou no Frieren, none of its comedic scenes feel too ridiculous (with the exception of the ones with Stark, but they do somewhat make sense for his character, as he is extroverted and quite immature). It doesn’t feel tedious to watch and it keeps the viewer engaged. Most episodes are more about the lives of the characters rather than action, but they don’t feel boring and the anime does deliver some awesome fighting scenes in the later episodes. The animation is top-notch, and it’s not limited to the fighting scenes only (like the part in episode 14 wherein Frieren was using a spell to find the ring that Himmel gave her). (Additional words: There are fantasy authors who try to deviate from what is considered Tolkien-esque - elves, dwarves, and the like - in fear of seeming unoriginal, but Sousou no Frieren doesn’t try to be different; yet, it still has managed to capture the hearts of many and become immensely popular. Although, I suppose it’s because you wouldn’t expect a weeb to have read LOTR.)

Nicely worded, both of you. Frieren is simple yet unique, boring yet interesting, cliche in terms of world building and characterisation yet a breath of fresh air at the same time. A fantasy anime that is also loved for its slice of life moments. Everything in this anime is subtle, from emotions to romance, from sadness to regret, from chaos to calmness. Like you said, Frieren isn't just a story about xyz, it's those moments of a big journey where people take rest and enjoy with his pals. Story always records great moments of life. But what about those boring moments that we forget. Frieren is boring yet beautiful moments of a big journey.

On the contrary, I would say Frieren takes far more from beautifuls anime films, and less from standard anime series (or mangas- I'm talking about the adaptation, cannot speak for the source material). The first episodes even get a montage of 2h for TV release apparantly. Personnaly, that's what get me to love it : an oneiric journey, that take the time to be slow and meaningless.

The "strange" thing about Frieren is that, as a lot of people already said, it doesn't has the same fantasy clichés and all about the animation, music etc... But the thing that really got me is probably that it takes it's time to do everything, like you can see that NO ONE is running behind them so if they do 3 episodes in the same environment (for example when they were with the prest elf), still it's not the end of the world because they use that space of 3 eps for explaining and talking about carachters background and other stuff. Is really more like a fantasy slice of life with some action and fights (that are perfectly made) and stop, is not the same as all the others fantasy anime. And because of this, actually, is one of those anime where us, realy people, relly learn something new about life and the world around us and oursleves. These are the types of anime that i'm really liking in these last years with the pandemic and now, more calm and comfy slice of life animes (obv i like also classic anime but that's not the point and i think that you kind of got it what i want to say, i hope 😅), not something battle shonen, action but emotional animes, i feel like now i really need this, because i need to focus more on myself and what sorround me and on my emotions. Btw, i can't wait for season 2 and for others beautiful scenes ❤

Most of the time when I go into an anime with high expectations it usually just ends up being mid Finding an anime that reaches those expectations is somewhat rare However Frieren didn't just reach those expectations that I had when I started, it went so far above and beyond them, and let me tell you, I went into it with VERY high expectations (because of Gigguk's videos about the Manga), yet I was still suprised by just how good it is, God I love fantasy anime without all the harems, isekai and cliche characters. This, Somali to mori no kamisama and Maquia are all top tier fantasy stories for me because they all had unique worlds and stories without relying too much on tropes, especially Somali which in my opinion has one of the best worlds in my opinion that unfortunately never reached its full potential. Kinda sad that I saw some people ignore Somali just because it's not another Shonen fighting anime. On another note, excuse me while I go cry myself to sleep for the 100th time over the cancelation of Somali's Manga

Considering just how well S1 went down I doubt they'll change the core team, and I don't think the director will let it be anything worse then spectacular. The main issue I can see is it taking a while to get to us, and I'm fine with that tbh the quality is well worth the wait.
