The discontinued ring peephole cam is far superior and still sold on amazon, sits higher in center of door, for a better view. Cant just be ripped off the wall cause it goes through the hole where the peephole was and mounts inside the door, Easy access to battery from inside the house to easily pop-out and charge when needed without squatting and removing security screws youll probably lose the key to anyway. I absolutely love it. Apparently too many people complained that "nobody looks for the doorbell in the middle of the door" but i think its pretty obvious as it looks like a regular ring doorbell and has a spinning blue light around the doorbell button when it sees a person.

Do you have any suggestions when to use the 50w 25 Ω resistor? I'm currently wired up with two Ring doorbells without the resistor but seeing there's discussion about the resistor needed to never charge the batteries. Every several months, especially when cold, I have to remove the wired doorbells and bring them inside and charge them for several hours. If I install the resistor or a larger transformer, will I need to do this? I don't know why a powered doorbell needs a battery anyway! Thanks

I’m trying to figure out how to push the alarm or does my ring doorbell second generation, have a siren that you can push the siren on your on your smart phone or whatever when it says you have motion at your door and you see somebody either try wiggling your door knob trying to get in your window lurking around on your porch that you could push the siren. I can’t figure it out! I can’t figure out if I have that option or and how to use the option. Could somebody help me please thank you

The IFTTT is another fee. You have to pay for the app. Don’t you already get notifications from your Doorbell when ur away from home? Otherwise, why would anyone use the pre-recorded “we aren’t home leave a message”. I’m so confused but still new to ring. I thought the entire purpose for ring is to get alerts when ur away from home. Are u only able to review ur alerts when u get home? Even on ur cell phone?

Thanks for the info. Regarding the tip to put your laptop etc on 5g and Alexa devices on 2.4g, that might be a problem for some. We had 2.4 router and set up echos and wifi plugs/switches throughout for an automated house. Then our provider upgraded us to 5g by installing 2.4g/5g dual router. When they did that nothing in the house worked. After the cable company made several trips to fix the problem, they left scratching their head. Long story short. We ended up turning off the 5g signal and everything started working again. Plus is we now have our house back using Alexa. Down side, we're paying for 5g and can't use it.
