To say 'you can never miss..' is optimistic. It used to be the case that they would escort all the latecomers through the tunnels to make sure they got their train. I can't see them bothering now, what with night tube, all-night buses and the complexities of interacting with other transport providers.

I was wondering this 😂 I thought I missed something... As well as the light I can turn on in my cab, the fact we have to call a PNR in advance for certain stations, we never get radio'd by station staff, that even automatic we operator the doors and the train... What else was there... Oh yeah wildlife... Yes up the front are mythical beings... Not just a fox and squirrels.

@@Geno2733 at a Terminus... So when the train reaches it's destination, we have a minimum of 4 minutes before we go back the other way. That's when we go toilet. If we are going to be longer then we call the controller and ask for a PNR (Personal Need Relief). Oh the very rare occasion something happens on the line, we can call a PNR but it's at very few stations this is available so we are at the mercy of luck.

Is it true there are fully automated trains where the driver only intervenes when there is a problem? What do they do the rest of the time? Also, it sounds like dim lights in the driver's cabin could be true, if for some reason the train stops between stations bright lights would make it harder to adapt to the dark in the tunnels, can you confirm?

I worked on the Underground in 1986 to 1990. Back then loads of people would miss the last train. There were no barriers, in fact they were just starting to talk about implementing them. Back then it was called the UTS. The Underground Ticketing System. We nicknamed it the Useless Ticketing System, because we all thought it wouldn't be as good as having a ticket collector on the barrier and people would just jump over them. I was the Station Forewoman at Chalk Farm and I would have to lock up the station after the last train and open it up again in the morning while I was on the night shift. I was rarely on my own though, because the P-Way guys were stationed there and they often worked through the night, though we had separate offices.

Not totally untrue though. I live next to the Picadilly line. I walk 20 mins to Central line rather than take Picadilly. Central is fast, frequent and straight across London. This results in a quicker journey from outer London. I know many who choose the same instead of taking the District line also, which stops a lot.

If you’re in the deep stations near the Thames look at the tunnel mouths. A lot of them have flood doors which can be closed if there’s a major breach. I, as a 14 year old, travelled in the cab of a Tube Train, albeit from Waterloo to The Bank, and there were lights in the cab. I, as a Londoner, have missed the last Train. All Underground Stations are packed at Rush Hour! Isn't that a Zonal Map? Hardley secret! Didnt this Tube Driver tell you it's pronounced Choob not Toob, you know, like a Tuba, not a Tooba! Oh, dear!

Yeah, I've totally missed the last train when changing lines... And when you're going E to W, that means getting a cab because no way I'm changing three buses past midnight 😅 I learned my lesson

I'd say the circle line is the slowest. When I lived in London, before moving to the home counties, I avoided using the Circle in order to get to Paddington, so opted for the Bakerloo. Also, re the first one, station staff stop people from accessing the tube station by a certain time.

This is because the Waterloo line is the shortest line in London and the central is the longest lines of 5.

I have already seen many point out that most, if not all the facts listed are wrong, but if the “six automatic lines” fact are true, that would mean that a bit over 50% is automated, whilst in the Copenhagen underground, there are four lines, all of which is automated. And London is by far bigger than Copenhagen, so if you just go by number of active lines, Copenhagen is covered better by their “Metro”, than Londons “Tube”

3rd one is kinda wrong, as far as I know, the 1996 stocks have a cab light, and a saloon light (which just means interior lights).

The Circle Line in rush hour is the slowest for my money.

The first one couldn’t be further from the truth 😂 there’s a train every few mins so if you missed it, you can always board the next one.

the drivers are also there when the trains are automatic so that they can open/close doors

1 is definitely wrong, most stations have multiple lines so it is possible to tap in and miss your last train or even be connecting on the last terminating train. Stratford for example, coming from the Jubilee Line it’s possible to miss the last Eastbound Central Line and have to wait 20-30mins for the N8 to start
