Ken, I'm from the UK, and have some news for you if you have time to read this. Having had a year of stage three cancer treatment, i discovered that I was now lactose intolerant after radiotherapy to my abdomen. I also had quite severe hip pain for about four years that I put down to wear and tear. I had xays that confirmed my 'severe arthritis'. I saw your video, and gave the keto diet a try, not expecting it to work. About three weeks later, here I am, at 72, able to run around with my dog on the beach like a teenager, well almost. The change has been staggering, and so fast. I suspect grains have been my main problem, but i no longer use refined oils, pasta or bread products. I can only thank you for your charasmatic and positive style in your videos that have literally changed my life. Thank you.

They would continually say things like “ breakfast is the most important meal of the day”--“ better eat lunch because it’s a long time till supper”-- Better eat your supper it’s a long time until breakfast “ I don’t wake up hungry so I don’t eat breakfast And if I eat lunch I’m not hungry for supper. So I eat supper once a day. And that’s my one meal a day. I am 56 and I don’t have medical problems. But the people that preached that all my life does have medical problems and weight problems. Just glad the dr. Here on this channel has finally break it down and gives much needed advise to those who don’t fast. It won’t kill you lol. A lot of great tips in the video. When I was doing intermittent fasting with the alkaline diet. My body felt the best at this period in my life. It wasn't easy to get into, started off fasting for three days and the struggle of feeling constantly hungry for the first two days. I was working in a deli at the time too, constantly around food, the smell and people kept trying to entice me to eat something. It took me a little over a month of limiting my food intake to one hour and not eating anything for the rest of the day. I would drink warm water or coffee to suppress my appetite. There is also benefits in drinking black coffee as I suppose to help speed up the time to reach ketosis. After having lived like this for over a year and stopping, the weight gain was fast and hard. Now, I want to get back into this life style and I can say it isn't easy.

My go to is always the Unrefined, Virgin, Coconut Oil. I've been using it as meal replacement for over a year now. It's also a super food with over a dozen health enhancing properties. My favorite is how the lauric acid turns into monolaurin in your liver. Which then makes your blood acidic, allowing it to clean the plaque building up around your body. Adding extra momentum to your bodies ability to really handle the transition into Autophagy more efficiently. While also protecting muscle in the process.
@KenDBerryMD4 жыл бұрын
Well said!
@mumtazahmad57024 жыл бұрын
How do you eat the coconut oil just a spoonful raw white blob( for lack of a better word) or do you heat it up? How much do you eat? I don’t know if I could eat just that alone but I liked how you explained about the liver.
@CandymanSays4 жыл бұрын
@@mumtazahmad5702 I eat it straight out of the jar. It's only a minute worth of weird to get through. The stuff I've been getting lately tastes like soap. Which I'm hoping is really good for lauric acid content. Since it's lauric acid that gives soap that taste in the first place. You start small with a teaspoon a day. Then advance with 2 in a week or 2. Slowly climbing in how much you eat until you reach a tablespoon a day. Then do that for a few months, can go up to 2 Tablespoons a day if you need to. I like the 1st source of heat that I'm aware of being applied to it, be my stomach, my mouth. So it's digested in it's purest form. If you heat it before you eat it, you can ruin it's internal essence, creating waste.

Reward eating as in OMAD at the end of the day seems to work for me, this does not turn off hunger but it allows me to look forward to that evening meal. A bit of Bro science ;) Eating in the evening should keep the protein to be used just for maintenance rather than gluconeogenesis as in protein converted for energy since its the end of the day and you are retiring for the evening. Otherwise good advice Ken, even eating fat pre-fast, and start the electrolyte drinks a day before settles the body from cravings. But OMAD is a good way to start then when you think you can extend that time from dinner to dinner go through to the next day break-fast whenever that is so it becomes a 32hr to whenever fast.

Now, I am normally a person who has a lot of respiratory problems when I get a viral illness, like bronchitis or pneumonia. This past winter, I have encountered 2 viral illnesses as did the rest of my family and I fared way better than anyone else. I had mild symptoms for about 4-5 days, and I didn’t need my inhaler. This was the first time in decades I have been able to fight an illness on my own. Basically, with my asthma I have needed some type of antibiotics and or steroids every time since I was a child. My blood test was fine, except I've muscles spasms. No med. prescribe just pain killers and massage cream. But the pain persistent. Your video pop up regarding benefits of salt. I took half tspn of pink salt to a glass of water....in few mins..the pain began to subsided.. I was relieved.. I also like to stay occupied doing things with my hands, or,running errands, whatever keeps me busy and away from the snacks. 😊 I do OMAD, and I’m used to it now. I can’t sustain Keto for very long; however, I can do it in spurts or phases before I just feel tired and unwell from going too low on carbs. But it’s a fine balance between too many and too few carbs. Everyone has to find their own sweet spot.

Your fasting times will gradually improve, Don`t be to harsh on yourself in the beginning......keep stuffing yourself with proper dense food. Believe it or not, I'm fasting on alternate days (one meal a day). I sit in the kitchen (that's right, the kitchen) and play Forge of Empires on my computer all day long. I get up long enough to take a walk (on nice days), go to the store, or go to the bathroom but the majority of the time, I'm completely involved in building my city, engaging in battles, or figuring out good trades to make in the Forge of Empires market. I would NEVER have thought that this would have worked but I've been doing it now for over a month and it works. I haven't lost much weight because I'm on a heart medication that has the side effect of making you gain weight but I'm staying away from food for 22- and 24-hours every day.

Thanks for the tips. I am fasting 18/6- 20/4 for 2 months now. I get so hungry between the 8th- 12th hour into fasting and I keep thinking about what I would be eating when I break my fast 🤣. Been having green tea and black coffee but some days it's just hard.

Dr. Berry, you already had my upmost respect, but major bonus points for having the Fibonacci curve hanging on his wall. It just further proves you understand science and think outside of the box! Thanks for all you do!

A glass of water with a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar every morning shuts off the stomach growling for me. If my stomach starts complaining again later in the morning, a can of plain seltzer water always does the trick.

Shoutout to the Roman Baths. Kinda random learning about fasting from Mr Nashville, did a double take a few times until it clicked! edit: just to add, awesome video btw!

Here's one you may not know about: a hot water flask over your liver. It really helps at night.

I used to chew this flavorless, sweetener free gum(Falim), and it got me through during my early days of OMAD and multi day fasts. Now I don't really need it as fasting just comes natural to me.

this is really bad for gut health though and can cause all sorts of problems, dont have any gum when fasting, its the chewing that confuses your body

I've found if I walk it off or sleep it off, hunger goes away for a few hours. Also, workout will do too.

I would LOVE some tips on how to stay warm while fasting. I can fast for long periods of time, often using several of these tips, but CRIKEY do I get freezing cold sometimes. Has been a lot easier to fast during the summer, for sure.

I have had the same problem, especially after going to bed. It was mainly my legs that were cold. I finally began using a heating pad on my legs. Once I get warmed up, I turn it off, and I'm good till morning. I think part of it is fasting and part of it is the loss of insulating fat.

armadillotoe Same for me. I did a 48-hour fast only one time, and my legs and feet felt cold. Very shortly after breaking the fast I felt warm again. Why is that?
@marinaiv91984 жыл бұрын
Sherrie Livingston I had the same problem before. The answer is drink less water and eat more salt. I do 7 days fasts regularly and if I feel cold it means I drank too much water and forgot about salt that day.

@@marinaiv9198 I have had some success with this tactic in the past, but over the course of about a year and a half it has done some strange things to my kidneys. Finding the balance of salt to water (and potassium) that suits me has been BY FAR the most difficult part of my keto/fasting journey. I just hope I haven't done any irreparable damage.
