One problem I see with this is that normal opponents have their own guard up so elbowing even through it's very powerful it's useless if it doesn't hit it's target. Another issue I have is that your fingers are exposed and if you've ever been in a fight people will always throw as many punches as possible and since you have no guard yourself you fingers run the rise of breaking, especially if you "punching" like that at least curl up your fingers so they don't break. As far as the kneeing goes it's ok however I would recommend you take your hands and put them behind his neck and bring it down close to you put your elbows together and move his head around if you want to knee open up your elbows and knee, if you control the head you control your body and mma gym can tell you that.

moonshineandwater It’s a breathing technique used in all striking styles. Remembering to breath might seem like an easy thing and we take it for granted, but trust me, in a fight when your body has an adrenaline dump and your pulse is over 180bpm you will forget to breath. You may not think so, but you will. Then after 10-20 seconds your oxygen deficit will catch up with you and you’ll start hyperventilating and will become what is known as “gassed”, in the combat sports world. Being gassed can lead to panicking and a total loss of concentration and of energy. When you're gassed you're extremely vulnerable, because within 30 seconds you've got nothing in the tank, you're spent. It’s a horrible feeling, and you don’t want it. That’s why strikers train to breath this way when striking, and they also learn how to stay completely relaxed while under pressure to conserve energy and keep their power levels up. Ask any boxer, kick boxer or Muay Thai fighter. They all do it. This girl is using the popular Israeli developed Krav Maga reality based self- defence fighting system. It’s about the most practical and efficient self-defence system available to a girl. You should give it a go. You might even enjoy it. 😉

It is expelling air with the strike to generate even more power from your core. I'm a boxer and kickboxer, I automatically start breathing heavier when I preform any physical exertion. You think when I run, I am going to psh psh psh with every footfall?

@wattlebough
@wattlebough 6 жыл бұрын
Shinwoo K Yes the chokehold release is a variety using rotational force in preference to the pluck, which is very effective. However to me the idea of raising both your arms straight up and joining hands before rotating is ridiculous. We train to take our elbows just over top of the attackers arms and then drop our elbows to trap their arms, holding them with the free hand while then rotating back in to the attacker with a reverse elbow strike to the face or neck rather than the palm heel strikes she’s using here. Everything else she does is pretty spot on, although I’d have liked her to demonstrate the hammer fist strike to the base of the back of the skull in some of these scenarios as well. Otherwise she’s excellent.
@shinwook5145
@shinwook5145 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's what I have seen, putting one arm up, then the trap and reverse elbow, I think it's more efficient than two arms. Except that I have always seen pulling the arm all the way out so that your shoulder touches your cheek, I feel that helps taking pressure off the neck when turning. The elbow there just follow the idea of closest target closest weapon too well to be skiped, on my opinion : ) That's just me ofc.

Off course he is scared because he doesn't wear the groin guard. And the woman was trying to kick his fragile testicles. Light kick is more than enough to render him incapacitated on the flour. The stronger kick might crush the testicles and lead to permanent damage. Thats what happened to my friend when a girl kicked him. Unfortunately for him, she connected good, especially with his left testicle. His testicles hurt for 3 days until the nurse checked him and found out that his left testicle was completely ruptured and had to be removed. He is so lucky that the girl didn't crush both his testicles, he would be fully castrated and infertile for the rest of the life.

The reality is he probably won’t feel the nut shot. Don’t believe these lies. Joe Carr I agree. The techniques were not all bad but she is just ignoring the fact that if he fought back it would never go down as smoothly. Especially the bear hug technique was stupid. Getting bearhugged from behind is almost unescapable if you are weaker so you have to attack his face and try to get him to let go. That or grab one finger and pull it away from his hand so he has to let go or let you break his finger. And I dont even want to start on the front one. She would have gotten destroyed.

Best self protection is avoidance and awareness. In particular against several people, wtf, avoid it if posible, run if not. The only place for fighting techniqies (mainly if you dont know any martial art or stuff) against several oponents should be to take them away from your scaping route right before running faster than ever before

It's the same basic strikes just don't get caught up in trying to beat up one attacker at a time, take one or two strikes, back and forth, to each attacker until they are down, give up, or are stunned enough for you to get away. Try to keep both of them in front of you, rather than you being between them. If you get the chance, grab one and throw them between you and the other attacker. Go for the throat first, some men can shrug off a hit to the groin or the nose, but no one shrugs off a strong hit to the throat. If you can't breathe, you can't fight.

Nice video. Don’t forget the importance of protecting the head too, using the high cover block and head movement. That might be a good topic to cover in another video. Can’t defend yourself if you’re unconscious. Demonstrating the applications of the hammer fist could be a good topic too. There were a few excellent opportunities to use the hammer fist strike in this video that would have been more beneficial than palm heel strikes when the attacker is doubled over exposing the base of the back of his skull to a strike.

@@sergiolastname3416 Collapsing the trachea requires a powerful strike not just a quick jab. Whatever you’re talking about, your trachea wasn’t collapsed. Talk to an ambulance officer or doctor about what a full power strike of any kind to the trachea can do.
@wattlebough
@wattlebough 4 жыл бұрын
@Juan Velazquez Martin Rule 8 of the Unified Rules of MMA "Fouls" categorises deliberate directed strikes to an opponents throat as illegal. Re-read what you wrote in your original comment, you make the comment that "you can't kill anyone with a singlular elbow strike to the throat", and then go on to say, "seeing as how martial artists take kicks and elbows to the head all the time and only suffer from concussion..." That's two different things you've said there. Taking kicks and elbows to the head is not taking kicks and elbows to the throat, and I'm talking specifically to the trachea, your Adam's Apple part of your throat. I suggest that you talk to an ambulance officer or a doctor about what happens to the trachea if it is struck with a full force punch or elbow. A full power strike to the Adams Apple absolutely can kill you buddy, because when your trachea is collapsed you can't get airflow to the lungs and you'll asphyxiate. There's a reason it's on the list of fouls with the UFC and other MMA organisations. I'm not currently training, but I did Muay Thai, Boxing and Jiu Jitsu, and I've also training in military unarmed combatives, it was the last one where we were instructed to strike the throat to kill, along with the base of the back of the skull, which is also illegal under Unified Rules of MMA.

@@wattlebough While I agree that a powerful throat strike would do some messed up stuff, it won't likely kill them. After all, many jiu-jitsu chokes target the windpipe, and I have never heard of any them doing extreme harm to any training partner. I will say though, that if you did damage the windpipe itself, this would be fatal. I'm assuming this is what you meant

@@tchoythao1730 Bad advice. Do not get in close, and avoid going to the ground at all cost against a knife wielding attacker. Defending a knife attack fighting on the ground is infinitely worse than standing. If you have no training, run, run, run away as fast as you can. Do not stay and do not engage.

YOU FUCKING RUN. Like seriously, not a joke. Even a martial arts expert, if he's smart and he knows that opponent knows his shit, WILL ABSOLUTELY run away from a knife.

soi gne or just me who sees the obvious flaws in technique. This might work against an opponent whos not fighting back but most of her choke techniques will never work in real life. She has the general tips right though

It's way better to actually go to a fighting gym. She has good tips such as alertness, being loud and defensive, and targeting weaknesses. But, palm strikes aren't effective for inexperienced people due to it's awkwardness and likely chance for broken fingers. She knows how to fight, but you won't from just watching this.

Palm strikes and groin kicks (better to kick the front of the knee) - YES. Elbows and standing eye pokes - NO. Eye pokes from standing require extreme precision and speed to land without hurting yourself. Elbows bring you far too close to your attacker (last place you want to be if you are female and your attacker is male). Maintain distance, strike hard and run.
