Whether you're living in a city or not, we've all gotten those creepy-crawly feelings when it seems like someone is walking just a little too close behind us on the street. While most of us won't encounter an attack in our lives, it's great to be prepared - both to avoid a bad situation and to defend yourself if you have to. That's why we teamed up with Gabrielle Rubin from Female Awareness Self Defense to go over the finer points of how to stay alert, avert risky scenarios, and pull out your "bitch slap" if necessary.

@@NACtheMC Except the "self defense moves", this woman is teaching do NOT work. Pain compliance does not work on someone hyped up on adrenaline, which an attacker already has built up in anticipation of making the attack. In COMBAT... you have to do actual damage to your opponent, or deflect & evade. McDojo Woo will just make you a helpless little bitch.

The Girl That Ain't Playin “Not everyone wants to be a helpless little bitch” “and then run away” Hmm those two don’t seem to go together. Anybody with any martial arts experience would choke you out faster then you can yell “rape”. If you ever teach this bullshit to anyone you should be ashamed.

And after you strike your attacker they laugh, pick you up and throw you on the ground like a rag doll. The whole "Women's self-defense" learn a couple techniques thing is a joke. Go to a BJJ class and actually learn how to get a 200 lbs. guy off you by training it for countless hours against a resisting opponent. There's no easy way other then actually learning how to fight. Even armed self-defense takes time and effort.

Women PLEASE DO NOT use these techniques against a fully grown man. It takes years of training to properly and consistently land an effective elbow like the one that is shown in this video, and by that level of proficiency there would be other, more prudent weapons to attack with. Furthermore, DO NOT ASSUME that kicking a man in the balls will deter him, let alone the shin. All past history of attacks have shown that these types of techniques only seek to further aggravate the attacker into being even more violent and aggressive. I am not saying not to defend yourself, but please take real self defense classes with people who can SHOW YOU these techniques working in real time. Test and verify every technique before you are confident that it could work in a real situation. This information as a standalone instruction is dangerous to give to women who do not know how to otherwise defend themselves. Doing these techniques are most likely going to put you in more trouble during a violent attack than save you. Take real classes, please.

When FEAR Kicks in it screws up your thinking process, you start to panic, you can not think straight, you get nervous and fidgety.. The ONLY way to control or actually use your fears as a positive reinforcement is to practice over and over and then face it over and over in a simulated manner. So your saying if a guy puts his hand on my shoulder or grabs my wrist I should attack him physically? What if the strike doesn't phase him or have the desired effect? I'm now in a fist fight with a guy who will probably be much larger and stronger than me and could potentially still have hold of my wrist. I don't know much about self defence but if a guy knocks me out because I 'technically struck him first' what happens to me after I'm unconscious? Ju Turn and just go you advise? well if I do that let's hope to god I've knocked him out cold otherwise I've just given my back to a very angry male attacker.

Also, if someone's got you in a chokehold, you can grab the fingers/hand/wrist and twist or bend them as hard as you can. That's a sensitive area and you're taking care of the immediate threat (the arm that's wrapped around your neck). But anyway, cool video, I love how you guys are diversifying!

XD yes most things sold as SD are BS. And yes, the difference between fighting withouth rules and self defense is more on the pourpouse of the techniques more than the techniques themselves, a punch is a punch whether is self defense or bullying. About bjj, box, etc, I think they are great bases for self defense, but need to be completed, they are incomplete (rules, awareness and avoidance, blabla) Anyway, bjj or box are ages beyond this video on effectivity.

With all due respect, this video needs to be taken down. It has ZERO real-world applicability. ESPECIALLY that choke hold. The choke hold is NOT even applied the right way and does and does not resemble a real situation. Furthermore, it is completely known that none of these moves have been tested in real simulations. For example, someone putting you in a REAL CHOKE hold, not simply placing the arm on the shoulder as was done here. This is not even about not liking content, this is about horribly misleading information that could get someone injured, or killed.

I don't have a problem with the first part of trying to avoid a fight, however the way in which you try to defend yourself is shameful. It's clear to me that you don't understand how to fight, you need to be smart and relentless. As far as the "kick your own ass" part a leg sweep would be more effective although elbowing is a great way to defend in this situation, one elbow won't do the trick. As I said before you need to be relentless and you'll need to throw multiple elbows and not the kind you showed in the video, you need to throw an elbow that's parallel to the floor that way it gets great acceleration and gives you enough breathing room for you to do a take down. You can step to the side and bend down while going back and grabbing the legs and doing the take down. Another thing to keep in mind is you need to practice and test out your abilities to make sure they work rather than BSing like what they just did. I recommend if you really want to learn how to defend yourself is go to an MMA gym and learn, practice, and spar then you will know you are able to defend yourself.

@shinwook5145 6 жыл бұрын
I assume Ryan means that the elbows can work if you mix them up with a takedown, so that either your opponent let go or you end up on a headlock on the ground. Which is not so bad, that's why you dont see headlocks on BJJ tournaments, they work very bad. And escape from there. That's what I understood, not sure if I'm right. But yeah, no way you can escape that choke with elbows alone XD

Appreciate Video! Apologies for the intrusion, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you ever tried - Schallingora Family Friendship Scheme (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a great one off guide for revealing some simple military style self defence techniques to protect your family minus the hard work. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my work buddy got astronomical success with it.

Ladies, please do not listen to this. There's no way applying a move you saw in a KZbin video is going to help you, in fact, it could do the opposite. If you are concerned about your safety, train in a real martial arts gym, preferably, a good Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gym. BJJ is the best for smaller folks to defend against an untrained, larger person. But it takes years to be competent. You cannot learn self defense from watching videos.

When they put you in a choke hold you pull your right arm up and strike down as hard as you can and then elbow them in the face
@shinwook5145
@shinwook5145 6 жыл бұрын
striking the groin as u said is good, but I wouldnt rely solely on a pain based escape, because the attacker might not even feel it if he is high enough on drugs and adrenalin. About the elbow to the face, you literally cant from a proper rnc (try it out slow mo with a family member and you'll see why)

Trust me; they are not. If you want to learn how to defend yourself do BJJ, MMA, or Thai Boxing. Also, do some strength training.
@texasbeaver8188
@texasbeaver8188 6 жыл бұрын
+Patrick White You're half right, the video is kinda BS but may work, but I don't think strength training is a necessity, you should never punch in the street so you use palm strikes as a substitute. Palm strikes have much more power than a punch and do not require much strength and one to the throat may possibly kill, however, adequate self-defense training would work best; which you mentioned. Do try the palm strikes yourself, saves knuckles, saves lives.
@1234Daan4321
@1234Daan4321 6 жыл бұрын
Texas Beaver: no, this is complete crap. In an actual combat situation you will not even have as much bodily freedom as she does. Many mma fighters have tested what she talks about at a much more realistic level and shown that IT DOES NOT WORK. Also, strength training is necessary, because strength allows you to apply force. Force has a linear relation with acceleration according to Newton's law of motion (F=ma). Acceleration (a=dv/dt, so the change in velocity) is that which gets things to start moving in the first place. Without strength, no force and without force you will not get away. No matter how fancy your technique is.
@1234Daan4321
@1234Daan4321 6 жыл бұрын
Texas Beaver: Also, show me the proof for your bs claim that palm strikes have more "power". Who told you that? Do you even know what "power" means? And what about that "punch to the throat will kill" bullcrap? Complete nonsense. You need to punch really hard (a lot of force) to even have a chance at achieving that, plus get a lucky hit.

This is worthless. Try it with a friend and see. Google Gracie Jiu Jitsu and try one of their classes. Women’s self defense is BS. Fighting is fighting. There is no magical technique that lets women escape danger ... watch the women fight in the UFC
