Life is hard for 2 reasons :- Either because you’re leaving your comfort zone or because you’re staying in it. Leaving your comfort zone would tremendously increase the slope of your growth graph . great things is life is truly achieved by leaving your comfort zone. Staying in your comfort zone would gradually decrease the slope of improvement , the slope of dreams you have , the slope of meaning of life you carried till now would eventually decrease due to ill effect of staying in your comfort zone. ~ Manas Seetharama

First thing I did was tutoring languages. NO DEGREE in teaching btw! Then I tutored in other topics and then I wrote my first book and I can honestly say I had NO technical skills or spend any MONEY, but I started making money and it was my ticket OUT of corporate. A few years later I help others escape their job and figure out how to make money. I also made a video on the 7 income streams I started before I quit my job. Now I travel full-time and only need my laptop to make money. In sum: this works, no matter what age you are!!!

Being a professional web developer I want to give some additional advice for anyone who's interested in becoming a website designer. If you want to stand out, learn about Web Accessibility, UX (User Experience) and UI (User Interface) Design. Also, despite no-code platforms are available, it does help if you learn HTML, CSS and JavaScript (and maybe some PHP if you go for any self-hosted systems). If you know that, you can basically choose any CMS and customize it. But you also have to learn that CMS, it's pitfalls and it's benefits and that does take some time. Oh btw, WordPress is already at 43% market share at the moment.

Learn not to sell in panic when everything goes down and not to buy in euphoria when everything goes up. I will advise you all to forget predications and start making a good ptofits now because feature valuations are all speculations and guesses. Video editing is one of the MOST time-consuming parts in Video production ever. For Hollywood movies it can takes month. And for KZbinrs it can take 5,6 days to make a short 8 minute long video and not even the "editors" are bad.... in the market, but often also the content creators are bad, too. There are 1000 of bad stories. And "editing" is an art form that you often cannot see and some "student" is making the same editiong for 100 Bucks. You don't want to work 2, 3 days for 100 bucks.". I would never ever recommend to start with video editing as a "side project".
@allenpayne91822 жыл бұрын
The better advice would be: Find your passion. Is it 3D, do 3D .. maybe create "3D Mockups" that noone have done before. But do it 1, 2 years "for free".. follow your passion. "KZbin editing" is a job like "Mc Donalds"... everyone can do it. Noone cares if you are Gorden Ramsey when Gorden is in McDonals Kitchen all he can do is make sh**ty burges. So even if you are the BEST editor... creators will only pay you 100 bucks for days of work. Find "your thing". And create a website, podcast, find ways to "sell" your thing. That is my advice.
@ShermanWilliamsVideo2 жыл бұрын
I edit tv commercials for a living and the occasional short film. It can be time consuming but he made a good point. Good communication makes it work. Once you get to know how a client communicates and they get to know you, it'ss smooth sailing.. and yes, it is time consuming, I'm still learning new things every day about editing. I enjoy it at times when I can get into the zone, but I've had employees who found it to be torture.
@sarahbinder95972 жыл бұрын
I have been a video editor for seven years. Yes, you can learn the basics of editing in a weekend but I think it is also a bit insulting that you say, everyone can become a skilled editor in a weekend. That is why there are so many "editors" out there who waste creator's time because they are horrible. There is something called rhythm and composition which are also important in editing in addition to where to find the "cut" key and only can be learned by doing it for a while.

As someone that runs a editing agency for creators and in the last few years brands (was basically the 1st one, but there are a handful now), but as someone that trains editors for creators and with Adobe too, plus works with 8-10 editors at a time, I can tell you those rates are terrible/border on irresponsible to give out for such a high skillset and devalue the whole industry, even starting in the industry. I do realise the was never the intention, but I feel it's important to mention. I would say no one should do it under 150£ to 200 USD (as you said it's time intensive, and the rates mention can work out below minimum wage in most places), for small edits that don't take over a day or more than 2 revisions. Editors with 2-3 years experience (with the skillset that reflects that) should be doing £350+ When it goes to brand or cooperate, you're looking at 800-1200 a day depending on project and skillset
@faiz54232 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. As I'm a Video Editor and my niche is engineering, automotive, tech etc. I was confused on how much should I charge. Saw these websites and sadly quoted $20 an hour but when I researched i found the same work that I was providing was worth $50 an hour. Thanks for mentioning these. Appreciate it. We should charge what we provide and don't devalue our skills and also don't ruin the market.
