Few actually have this sort of internal validation. I’d argue it almost exclusively takes a deeply held non-material purpose in life to achieve that. You’d need to have incredibly static principles and beliefs to have that level of self-validation. But this topic is clearly just the next chapter in Rich’s inevitable path to knowledge and meaning. It’s way freakin’ more than just being accomplished at business and women. Done right, I’d argue those should be a by-product but so many prioritize the material success FIRST, and miss the enrichment of non-material wealth that comes with being a “sigma male”… or whatever label you prefer to place on it.

Yea but it's not so simple. There's a discussion to be had. Introverted people are typically self-isolating, don't have a social circle, are socially awkward in many cases because they don't enjoy social interactions. Alpha males are much more powerful because they can influence people, they have strong leader characteristics, they build strong social networks and can apply their power across society. The ruling class are actively promoting sigma as superior to alpha because as a man it essentially strips you of your power. We're inherently tribal animals, and almost everything of great meaning happens through collective action. Don't forget that. "The lone wolf dies in the winter" -KS

Sigma here. BSBA Supply-Chain economics, followed by Network security, ex-military, mathematician. The planning thing is wrong. We hate wasting time because we have plans, not because we don't plan. That's entirely incorrect. We can't be manipulated because we'll rarely tell anyone what we're thinking. We're stoic to avoid complications and save time. We read people accurately and form opinions without letting others know what we're up to. We avoid drama like the plague, but we have a tight circle of friends and we're exceedingly loyal. If we determine that our partner is not "all in" we'll leave them without notice, or even a break-up fight.

I am a HIGH achiever despite countless failures, am creative, intelligent, high critical thinking, charismatic, attractive but am "low status" because I'm tired of socializing with low value and shallow people (which is most of them). Yet I can mix well in ANY social circle, and am utterly tired of the B.S. of women and their inconsistent "needs" and so called "feelings", and feel absolute sorrow for the young males who are growing up in this continually degrading and f'd up world in almost every area of it (i.e. finance, economics, relationships, sensibilities, sociopathic/narcissistic)

I can relate to much of that and I had a similar story to Rich. Nerd with few friends. Kept to myself mostly though because I didn’t have a huge choice but started playing metal and my life completely changed. I quickly became the alpha and then the music scene did an abrupt 180 in the 90s and life got interesting for me after that. After years of trying to figure it all out I find myself wanting to care but not really able to. Living in Orlando for 18 years and being sins the most superficial people really has made me hate peoples like that. I’m not against looking good or having nice things. It’s just that people care way too much and Orlando is a tourist town so there’s no culture or anything and seeing people that literally have nothing going for them in any real value and strive to have everything that’s external was just a really stupid experience for me. Ever since I got into music I learned the value of looking good but when your fashion has a culture underneath it like Metal it gives you more than just an outward persona but there’s a lifestyle there. Most people have no identity anymore because that’s been uprooted so they might look good on the outside but they don’t have any receipts to show for it. That’s probably why a lot of guys identify that way. They see how nonsensical it all is and there’s just no point to looking good and having nice things if it’s just too please others. There has to be more to keep you grounded and steady and unchanging and there’s just not and that’s probably why we exist. It’s not that we don’t want to be around people or be successful. It’s that we know that if that success isn’t grounded in something it’s meaningless and that’s kind of awful to have to maintain a life with no purpose. I guess that it’s better to be financially secure and live meaningless lives than to be broke and that way so you gotta level up somehow

One thing. Apparently, Sigma males do not like themselves to be categorized under a group, any group. So, they won't call themselves Sigmas, to begin with. They'll reject the idea of a hierarchy like Alpha, Beta, nonsense. They are strict individualists. And they stand separately in all aspects. So, if someone says they're a Sigma, they are most definitely not one. Because their individuality will not allow them to be stereotyped.

My definition/understanding of a sigma male is: A man who doesn't really care about his position in male hierarchy and social order, yet who's presence and male energy itself commands respect, admiration and fascination. A sigma male could sit in the far corner of the room, just reading or writing, and he still is the center of gravity of that room. He effortlessly draws attention, respect and admiration from both men and women. Without even trying and without any flexing behaviour or speech.

We are all combinations of all the archetypes, nobody is simply one or another. Thanks guys. These conversations are helpful.

Once you go beyond Alpha and Beta, into Sigma and beyond, you start getting into sub-types. More accurately you are describing personality types. I suggest looking at Meyers-Briggs Personality Inventory. This Sigma sub-type seems closely aligned to an INTJ personality type to me, aka The Architect. Highly successful through quiet, complex strategies. Rich's description also suggests INTP. INTJ only make up 2% of the population, maybe the rarest personality type.

Accepting late in age, often refusing to accept, rejecting the label, and finally coming to terms with it, I accepted who I am. Always thought this was a slur. Always taught my two kids NOT to be a "lone wolf". The only thing I would disagree with Rich, is that a GENUINE "Sigma" doesn't choose to be one. He is at core a Sigma, which stems from his survival and EXTREME... EXTREME need to be self-reliant. But a Sigma gets tested for the harshest survival instincts and most Sigmas don't make it out with high mortality rate. The ones that do (like me) are often the happiest in self-exiled life and too busy and mission focused. Not a day, I ever walked into an "Alpha" Doman and unable to negotiate better terms for MYSELF. That's what a Sigma is all about. Not looking ''cool". As cor females, never had the need to have one, but NEVER had the issue of getting a good looking female WHEN I need one. Which is again, a Sigma curse in poetry. Don't be a Sigma...it's genuinely a lonely life of hunting, surviving, and staying happy AFTER being genuinely content with it. 👍

I think a sigma male is a self-actualized man who is on the blurred boundary between being introverted and extroverted which fits them into that narrow fraction of the general population. Abraham Maslow, the noted Professor of Psychology who is credited with Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs lectured Wayne Dyer. Dyer gave a talk about being self actualized, in that talk he said Maslow described one of the traits of being self actualized as,”…being beyond the good opinion of other people” put another way it’s an attitude that’s not one of indifference or defiance rather it’s one of attention to one’s own purpose in life and the fulfillment that comes in the service of those aims. A sigma male marches toward their their goal to the tune of a drum only they hear. It takes a sharp eye and a keen mind to distinguish a loaner from a sigma. Loaners drift whereas a Sigma is purpose driven and on task - except when they’re having fun. Sigmas are social, their call isn’t leave me alone or follow me it’s …going my way? And, isn’t that the best way to find like minded friends to share adventures with!

Id say the traits of the placeholder term for "sigma" would be akin to that of "alpha", however just add the fact of being an ambivert with tendencies leaning more towards introverted. I agree. Success is easier to achieve with a network. An intelligent and wise group of men stranded on an island have a greater chance of all surviving if they work together (hence the saying your only as strong as your weakest link) vs conflicting or doing it on their own. No person is more valuable because of their status place. What makes one valuable is situational. Donald Trump was president and gave orders yet the men and women who achieved the desired outcome is where the true value existed. Coaches can give constructive guidance yet never have the potential to achieve what their students will. They both serve their place in the end result however.

Sigma males don't typically tout their label(alpha, beta, sigma, etc) they just exist. Working within systems that require working within, while trying to forge a more solitary path. Seems fairly consistent with the unplugged alphas presentation as he notes, and many persons who would not typically label themselves "alpha". They may also be targeted for scorn due to certain perceptions by others, especially the RP community. They may also be higher on PUA abilities naturally due to the tendency towards introversion. All these terms really serve to divide and distract more so than describe.

Sigma different form of intelligence and reading the room/people. Essentially they see through people. They understand the Alpha and the Beta and make own informed decisions based on data available.

I’m so introverted I keep 5 friends and got rid of tv 😂. Other ppl are boring and senseless with there bullshit. I’m content living on my farm and being left alone. That said doing it alone is breaking my back literally now that I’m getting a little age to me like I could in my 20s. My normal 9-5 job it’s always one I’m left alone to do my job but I can be extroverted when needed. I could sell a ketchup popsicle to a lady in white gloves and can relate and connect with anyone I need to. I can be incredibly confrontational when I feel like I’m being infringed on. People tend to naturally follow me and have had coworkers tell me I can talk anyone into anything and make it sound like a great idea. I’d rather just not deal with ppl unless I have to for personal gain. I also trust no one other than myself including my own brother who’s my business partner 😂

I value silence more than status. An above average life and not be surrounded by people all the time, I prefer that over richness

I am grinning. It fascinates me when someone who is not Sigma describes what Sigma is. Every description I have read or listened to was to me very superficial, a bit like describing a person by only speaking of their clothing. In my view the central aspect of a Sigma is that their scope of perception is vast. Sigma people notice things 'normal' people simply do not see and they notice interrelationships of things that others miss. A Sigma understands, accepts, and even honors that people are different, their differences giving rise to incredible possibilities if we don't judge one better than the other. Most of what I notice, what I perceive, cannot be described in words. Except on rare occasions I can only share what to me is a few superficial points and connections. It is painful to wish to share and only be able to share what to me is the surface stuff. Often both I and the other person become frustrated, both experiencing being unable to share what they experience as 'deep and meaningful'. Notice and judge or notice and explore? Focus on the comfort of knowing or on enjoy the flow of being curious and expanding understanding? Focus on conforming with rules others created or focus on creating through expressions of my values? Have fixed goals or choose a general direction and type of experience desired, allowing room for the unexpected? Make the decisions for the group or guide the group, blending their ideas, what they can create? Use words as container or as connection points? And yes, some moments, some days I choose to hold back, enjoying my quirky, fluid world, letting myself be separate.

what tf are you talking about?
@colmpullen4702 Жыл бұрын
@@rise7056 Exactly! Most people wonder wtf I am talking about. The way I experience the world is very, very different from what most people experience. Perhaps this will help. People I have talked with who have IQs way, way above 'normal', even well above 'genius IQs', were happy to chat with me. They were surprised I could understand what they were saying. And even more surprised I could add to the conversation. (grin)

@@colmpullen4702 ok but ill tell u a message that has more iq than a sigma: no human can survive alone so sigmas dont exist
@colmpullen4702 Жыл бұрын
@@rise7056 So.... Yes, we all must interact with others and rely on others to provide what we need. What if Sigmas simply carefully 'appear normal' when they interact with others? What if Sigmas easily disguise their abilities? What if Sigmas are 'playful and pleasant' when going to the store, talking with their co-workers, talking with neighbors? What if Sigmas are careful of how much of their 'weirdness' they expose to others? Pretty much all people will do what is necessary to survive. In listening to descriptions of Sigmas I find I match most of the characteristics mentioned. And I have met a few others who match the characteristics used to identify Sigmas. In my view Sigmas do exist and are careful to 'hide' their understanding of life when around intolerant people.

They have to do more research. Sigmas are rare
@scottthepumpdude8933 Жыл бұрын
@@ayugoslav5554 I wouldn’t call them con artists, because I have gleaned a lot of useful information from both of those men that has helped me a lot in my dating and relationship life. And I didn’t spend a dime on either of them except for one of Rollo’s books. But nobody’s perfect. Their denial of the sigma male is an example of that.

What a sigma male means is vague I didn’t like how the article coined them I generally think it’s something like Introverted Respects everyone until given a reason not to Disagreeable High openness Low neuroticism Independent Strong willed determined Future oriented to a large degree Methodical but not more educated than intelligent Confident in his/her own Pragmatic until given reasons to tweak/improve their ideas (adapt) Doesn’t seek approval from majority of people This is what I’d consider Sigma

I'm a 'sigma', we actually don't beef with alpha bros, after disarming them...we can then co-exist...we can easily be the natural cool guy in the room, but only do that to keep the vibes up...most people are fake alphas tho, so it's easier to just lay back and watch them all blow up, then try to argue...we actually have plenty of frens, but shrewd judges of character...so my circle is tight, but my real bros are bros thru attrition...as far as dealing with broads, it's basically the same-ish, we just literally give zero fucks...all emotions are controlled.

Rich is a Sigma! I believe that when people say that sigmas are introverted, they associate that with shyness which is not the case. Sigmas do things with a purpose. They speak with a purpose, they collaborate with a purpose. They don’t do things just for the sake of doing it. I believe that what most people consider an alpha is actually a sigma, and that alpha’s are just as much of followers of social norms as betas are, they’re just more aggressive about it.

You are what you are. It is natural and it should sit comfortably with you. I am a Sigma Male. I genuinely prefer my own company, however, that said I enjoy to be with people at times and I enjoy my friends. I feel no need to ever impress myself on others and I do not judge. I am my own man. I love women, however, I am rarely in a relationship with a women. I work as a stand alone headhunter and I love training and exercising in the gym and keeping myself to myself. I will talk to people but I do not seek people out. 7:50

Sigma's often find alpha's come off as insecure dicks, Tate for example. Keanu Reeves is a decent example of a sigma, cares about others, shares his success, never demands a following or respect because it comes natural to him, when he does have a following he will help out with random acts of kindness instead of monopolising on his follower's lack of success. I could go on....

I, too, was incredibly shy and insecure (tall, skinny, acne,) when I was in high school. At age 18 I decided this was no way to live, so I started on an 18 year journey to become "unshy." I've never lusted after wealth or power. I spent some decades lusting after.....lust. Pussy. Which, of course, is also a goal of most Alpha's, but I didn't use wealth and power to get them to spread their legs for me. Mostly charm and knowing what I had to do to become a successful seducer. (I was blessed by being good looking by my thirties, that helped.) Now I'm an old man. My rather small house in a great neighborhood is all the shelter I want. I drive a 23 year old fast car. I write, I do photography. Sure, I'd like to be published, but not very important. I'm active in my community in several ways, including volunteering. The list pretty well describes me except for the brooding and not liking to be social.
