Everybody brought something to the group. Jin as an actor taught BTS the importance of living the song like a method actor. That's why BTS songs ring with sincerity. BTS started in the Korean music industry that had certain expectations. It is all credit to BTS how often they stepped beyond that... Jin is the BTS member who's vocal quality most appeal to Japanese audiences and I love the way he sounds in BTS' Japanese discography. It still amazes me BTS has different songs in 3 languages.

Please read Awake’s lyric translation on Doolset. Jin has writing credits. The song is about his insecurities regarding his abilities in comparison to his brothers. Through self improvement he wants to continue running/flying with the group. It’s quite a heartbreaking, vulnerable song for someone who is truly very talented.✨💜✨ Thanks for continuing to explore BTS.😊 Looking forward to “Nuts.” The live version has one lyric line that differs from the studio version. Thank you for your reaction to this song. Some comments say that Jin is great in BTS' Japanese songs. I am Japanese. Many Japanese people like to express their innermost feelings through song. It is not something to express in an exaggerated or bold way, but something that just comes pouring out from his heart. Jin has a great ability to express that. I think that is one of the reasons why Jin's songs are so deeply loved in Japan and he is the only one in BTS to receive a standing ovation.

Amazingly, they did not know if he could sing, as they originally recruited him for his visuals. They say he learned quickly as he had no bad habits to break and relearn as he was a fresh slate. His voice is special.

This was the first song that made me realize that BTS songs in general, weren't just cookie cutter, but are directly from their inner dialogue. To me, he's accepting that he's 'not as good' since he came in with no singing/dancing skills, but saying he's going to keep reaching for it. I was agape.

I always feel that this song is about the tragedy of Jin feeling he is not good enough to be a member of BTS. His struggle to improve and not let the other guys down, he saw the others as all being stars, so gifted that he will never be able to match them. But he cherishes them and works his hardest to never let them down. The pain in his voice as he sings is palpable, but then he was an actor first.

I think Jin can convey the emotional aspect of a song the best as he seems to be totally immersed in songs when he sings. This is the actor in him and as he has a graduate degree and Masters in Film Art and Acting he seems to naturally express the songs he sings. James Osorio, American pianist and producer, said he would like to see Jin in musical theatre before he dies as he has the perfect voice for it. He is a great admirer of his singing. One of his earlier singing coaches said it was difficult for Jin at first because he is trained in acting vocalisation and switching to music vocalisation which is different was not easy but he worked hard and achieved it. The words of the song mean a lot to Army as he sings about how he does not feel he is as talented as the other six members. He wrote and sang it in 2016, yet even after all the fame and many accolades he has received he wrote Abyss in 2020 when he was depressed and did not feel worthy enough to receive the accolades BTS received after ‘Dynamite’. Still he keeps singing and hopefully one day he will see what we all see, that he is just as talented as the other six members.

I’ve been waiting for y’all to react to Awake!! I know that Epiphany is the most beloved song of his from ARMY but I’ve been screaming since the beginning that Awake is his best song compositionally, vocally, the emotions delivered, etc. I think this is by far his best vocal performance and it often gets overshadowed by his other tracks. But it’s so beautiful. As a classical violinist I also fell in love with this stage rendition - that initial opening is insanely beautiful and I wish it was part of the studio recording, but that’s what makes these live performances all the more special.

Jin just sings so gracefully and his voice touches your soul. He has the widest range in bts and this is according to the members themselves but he doesn’t use his lower tone too often. He adds so much emotion that makes you just lose yourself in any song.

lol - like proud dads watching their kid 😂💜 I particularly love this song because it's about him trying to come to terms with his insecurities that he's might not be as talented or have the ability to "touch the sky" or "fly" like his 6 band mates. As Yoongi endlessly tells him, he brings something to the group that noone else can. Amongst other things, Jin's vulnerability is one of the things that makes him so endearing. 💜

I love Jin, yet he seems to be the member that is most overlooked in some ways. Yet every time he sings, I feel it. He is the one who conveys such emotions with his voice. They all do to some extent, but Jin is the one who makes me feel the purpose of the song, the emotions that BTS wants to convey. So even without reading the lyrics, I feel the the meaning of the song due to the way he sings it. Soft or belting, Jin’s vocals are beautiful, and versatile. He was the member who wasn’t a singer and he always feels like his vocals aren’t on par with the rest of the members. He works so very hard, and the members always support and encourage him. When they were promotions their album Be, the members interviewed each other. Jungkook was the one to interview Jin, and it was really interesting to see, and I would recommend you guys check it out sometime (even if you don’t react to it, it’s worthwhile to see their thought process for that album, and how the members interact with each other). As always thank you for your reactions, I really enjoy them.

Still in my Top 5 all-time BTS songs. And the lyrics are heartbreaking. Just a perfect song. After you read the lyrics, come back and watch the performance again. You will understand why he is shedding tears as the lift takes him back down, and why the only choice as a performer was to stay in character. This song is the cornerstone of the entire BTS Universe story. It explains the actions and motivations of the pivotal character he portrays. They were bewildering at the beginning of the storyline. For me, this song made the entire story come together.

Awake is my most fave song of Jin because of its meaning. We all knew that out of all members, Jin had the hardest time during training days since he doesnt have any background in dancing nor singing. So during practices, he stays late or he starts early to practice so he can keep with everybody ... As lyrics goes," Maybe I, I can’t touch the sky, But I still want to reach my hand". Like he may not be the best member of the team, still his trying his best to be one. So proud of you Jin!!❤❤
