Would hit like, but you're at 69, so have a comment instead. But to actually reply; I like metal because it tends to fit better with my brain; it's a bit chaotic up there. Consistently slow, relaxing music tends to make me feel really antsy and uncomfortable. I'm too mentally hyperactive for it. Metal constantly has new stuff going on in it, which forces my brain to pay attention to it, which levels things out. With the really good bands, you re-listen and there's new stuff to discover.

In 800 BCE the first recovered piece of recorded music was found. It was written in cuneiform and was a religious hymn. It should be noted that cuneiform is not a type of musical notation.

I worked on the alzheimer's unit at a nursing home.. and it is very true.. music was very therapeutic for the residents.. it was amazing to see you the mood shift when music from their era came on. Some would clap and tap their toes.. some would get up and dance While others would talk about fun times from their lives.. it was so awesome to witness..

I have music playing in my head all the time; it even shows up in my dreams. I don't know about everyone else, but I get distinct mental images whenever I listen to music. It's kind of hard to describe, but when I heard back in the 60s about people taking stuff like LSD to get the sort of things I get from listening to music (and I don't get distortion or weird stuff), I couldn't imagine why they were fooling around with that stuff to cause what I thought was a perfectly normal reaction. Go figure.

I listen to music constantly. I can't stop myself. I feel empty without it. I do want silence but when I'm in a loud environment I'd rather blast some Queen on full volume or some Marilyn Manson or Green Day instead of being in a place that's really loud. I just like having a familiar sound taking over instead of having to listen to people talking loudly and running around in a rush. It just lets you slow down.
