This is a great video. I've just recently landed a job after having a 7 year gap due to an accident and Covid pandemic back to back. I remember putting my resume in around 15 job postings and only 1 manager took me in for an interview. I went there like nothing of my past ever happened, I told him the truth and made it seem as if the situation was just "Life" in which I had no control over. He noticed how I targeted in my resume that I recently obtained a license for the job I applied for and that I had 8 years experience of customer service before my 7 year gap. Before I applied I knew what the company was requiring me to qualify for (customer service, experience driving a car, and a class c commercial license) and I got the job instantly. So, this video is spot on with the advice because its all about what the company needs, not the gaps, primarily because they may run a criminal background anyway! I would say this, if you get rejected based on a gap in your resume, then you are lucky not to work there because most likely it is managed by unprofessional bosses who will never appreciate your value in skills.

Just after my graduation in BCA i got placed as a trainer for programming language. After that, I got teaching and training career continuously till now. It was easy for me to work in that field because of the flexible timings which helped me to take care of my small kids at that time. I took MCA in along qith my profession from IGNO University. This is going to be a little long. I have completed my Post Graduation in Engineering in 2013. Then I started working at IIT Madras as a Project Associate right after that. I left IIT after completion of my project in 2014. I came back home and started preparing for IBPS, but that didn't happen. I lost 2 years. Then I tried and got a job of an IT Assistance which I hated but did that for 2 years. In these 2 years I started learning about Facebook and Google Ads. After leaving the job, I started working as a freelancer. I was planning and implementing online ad campaigns for t-shirt brands. In 2020, during the pandemic I started my own infant clothing brand along with the freelancing work. Right now I am 33, my father just retired from his job and I have to take care of the family. The problem is, my clothing business isn't generating enough cash as I don't have much to spend on marketing because I am bootstrapping. Also, as I have dead stock from last season, I can't bring in new products. I don't want to go back to freelancing. I need a job that pays the bills and then I can work towards a better job. I am trying, but I don't know how people will react to my resume as you can see I its a mess. Any advice for me?

Thanks akka, I had requested this particular video on a comment and was disappointed all these days as I had thought u ignored my request Edit - let me share a success story, a classmate of mine (tier3 engineering college, multiple backlogs, very poor gpa) he had a gap of 1.5 years, just after graduation. So what did he do? Got into an internship for 6 months, networked well, upskilled well, and cracked the interview at Lowe’s for a BA. His starting pay was 4.4lpa as opposed to 3.5 for other freshers. Why? Bcz he exhibited potential. FF 2 years he’s the favorite of the 3 managers he’s worked with, got his promotion waay earlier than his team mates, and made up for that gap. He gets compliments on a regular basis. He has zero worries about recession etc etc Bcz he’s the most prized asset of his team.
