In 2010 I had a regular $20 Mr Coffee maker that did exactly what I needed it to do. Drip coffee. In 2023, my coffee machine stopped working. I almost went to Amazon to get a new one but decided to reach out to them. I still had my receipt saved, wrote an email, and their support team got back to me. I spoke with a representative, and filled out the form. They offered to replace the machine free of charge with free shipping. I nicely asked if I could have a coffee maker that had a built in automatic clock & timer which starts making coffee. The rep said no problem and sent me a newer machine that now makes my coffee every morning at 6:15 am. Thank you Mr. Coffee maker! I am a fan for life!

My grandpa always stressed the importance of good high quality shoes. Similar to how you mentioned being asleep for 1/3 of your life, you’re on your feet for a majority of your life as well! Treat your feet well and good health will follow

Definitely agree with the extra large monitor! Another on of my favorite purchase that I've gotten tremendous value out of is my standing desk, my standing desk has moved with me around the country in the last 10 years and it's my most prized possession other than my king size bed. Working while standing somehow makes me feel more productive than sitting down and helps me be healthier with a desk job. I hope you get to take that well deserved vacation to truly unplug, it is invaluable to soul to have the mental space to yourself! I live in OR and there are plenty of places in nature to escape the crowd and devices, I often go to off the grid hot springs where there is no cell reception where I can truly get away from all the notification and simply just be present and experience nature; i always feel very rejuvenated mentally and physically to give myself the space to unplug.

I’m actually doing the opposite as I get older… I buy fewer items -shoes, clothes, cars, nights out, food, etc and am focusing way more on saving and investing. At this point my take home is about 6k per month and I’m saving/investing 5k and living on 1k!

Getting health nuisances checked/treated is a big one. Doesn't matter what it is. If it causes pain or forces you to alter your life in some way to accommodate it, learning what it is and potentially finding out there's a remediation could be life changing.

Yes Patagonia really does follow their lifetime policy. They replaced a new jacket for me after 3 years of wear, since there was some rubbing on the back panel.

Yes to all of these! I mostly use the filters of: High quality/built to last and Do I really need it. So if there is something I want I'll see what the long lasting version of it is. After that research I'll sleep on it for a month. If the month ends and I still feel it's going to make my life better, then it's probably gonna be a good purchase.

@1:05 I strongly suggest that you take your PC off the floor, especially if you have animals. If you have a good filtration system for dust, you should be okay to keep it on the floor.

Oh, and a little late, but an anchoring effect example IRL is my Sprouts moved the small shopping carts out of the entry, so there’s only large carts. Female Subscriber Here (rare) :D I think you should consider coming here to the mountains of Idaho for your next getaway. Rent a secluded cabin in the woods (preferably without internet) and go on daily hikes, canoe on a lake, read, and relax. My favorite and most rejuvenating vacations are the ones where I am unplugged for sure. If you get serious, hit me up and I can let you know my preferred places! Good video, btw. :) As per usual.

Patigonia is great clothing. A large monitor is great. Back in 1994 I gave all of our emplyees dual 19" monitors and then 20's. There were a couple of people that said they only need one. I asked them to try it out for a week and if you really wanted 1 I would take the other away. Out of 4-5 people that asked, not one wanted only one monitor after a week.

same day wash, fluff and fold is really a treat once and a while. $30 for 20 lbs of dirty laundry is such a time saver - i hate folding.

Similar to my story. I had fun converting my MacBook Pro into a desktop gaming PC 🤣. Complete with a 1440p high refresh rate 27 inch monitor and a GTX 1080 external GPU enclosure running bootcamp Windows 10. Though, I later switched to a proper gaming PC and began poking around with computer hardware and different distributions of Linux which got me even more interested in software development. Graduated college with a Computer Science degree and now I have a nice career working as a software engineer.

High five on not being ashamed of your coffee preference! I do love some high quality, french press craziness on weekends, but weekdays I take Folgers drip, 2nd cup usually burnt from sitting while I finish the first.

I had a gaming PC that lasted 10 years - worth every penny. IBuypower. If you're a coffee drinker, def get a nice one and learn how to make it well. We have the breville barista express and haven't bought one since. A healthcare investment is a carbon water filter on your kitchen sink (or whole house) so you have cleaner water to drink and cook with. HEPA filters for your HVAC or stand alone filters to keep your air very clean - especially for people with allergies. Travel is important - even locally. So many people in the Bay Area that don't explore everything the bay area has to offer. Thank you for The Office reference.

Hello, Love your content! A lot. Osprey is my favorite purchase for a backpack bc they also have a lifetime warranty. Consumers can send their bags in for repair, at no cost (except shipping). If they can’t fix it, they replace it at no cost with the same or similar model. Also, I’ve traveled a lot. I’m the go to friend for trip recommendations. Always consider to calculate the quality of life per hour and its resulting cost. Example: a fun daily driver might be so expensive on fuel that 2 cars make sense. One fuel efficient and the other fully committed to it's purpose ;-)

For high quality, i tend to spend more on things that touch the ground, so tires, bed, chair, and shoes since they protect your body over the long term. Tires are for safety.

What time of year will you be travelling? Makes a big difference for weather wherever you’re going. But Costa Rica is nice November through March and Italy gets warm enough April-June before it’s too busy in July. Stay on the Amalfi coast and visit the lemon farms in Sorento.

I like (or liked) making essepresso drinks. I have decent burr grinder and an equivlent esspresso machine. We got a Mr Coffee for a family memeber who was going to assist us in the early days of having a new baby. I packed the esspresso machine and grinder away. Bottles and and other hand wash items started to fill the space.... about 3 years and a second child and second mr coffee later the esspresso machine is still packed away. The space savings and time savings (even if it is only a few minutes) are out weighting the better coffee. The cost savings are minor once you have all the needed equipment.

Ha, I'm also playing Diablo 4 :) But *one* large monitor just isn't cutting it. Give two 4k screens a try. Allows you to have 8 Full HD windows open. Usually I have about 6 open during normal working hours.

Ironically, I've found that a 4k monitor for reading and a 1080p monitor for video works great -- the 4k monitor is obviously front and center, and the 1080p monitor serves like half a dozen purposes -- it obviously houses whatever you need to be able to reference quickly, it's cheaper while still being effective, it's less load on your pc, and, most importantly, it shows you that your 4k monitor is, in fact, better. I don't know about others, but I find it easy to lose sight of what I'm actually gaining with a 4k monitor -- particularly when reading text. If I'm ever in doubt, I just move the text over to my 1080p monitor.

Spend good money for a good gym membership. With a desk job, working out has probably been the best thing for my mental and physical health and is well worth the cost, just have to be disciplined!

You always make good points. I was so happy when I was able to buy a luxury car (Lexus) and my interest was only 1.7%. WHEW! I certainly saved some money with that low interest and although I did pay it off early, it wasn't that much early (a few months). Thank you for taking the time and sharing.

Built a mid-range gaming PC for $1300 last September & it has outperformed my old gaming laptop by 10x the power. Definitely recommend people to build their own PC as it's cheaper & you can upgrade parts later on for newer games

On top of a monitor upgrade, I'd say the next great thing for productivity is a table mounted VESA monitor stand. Highly adjustable and can move the monitor closer to your face for gaming or workload instead of positioning your whole body forward to see closer to the monitor. Got one for my 24" monitor years ago and had to get a new one when I upgraded to a 34" ultrawide recently as I couldn't live without one of these VESA stands. Will never go back to a normal stand.

Membership to a quality gym. I pay $80 per month at a high end gym. It’s never packed, people are more respectful, less stress, better environment compared to the $25 gym in my area.

Fellow Bay Area native and after working a decade in tech in SF, I finally folded and bought a Patagonia jacket on clearance last month and they're awesome especially if you can get it on sale. Another great SF clothing brand is American Giant. All their stuff is made in the USA and super high quality. I did IT consulting work for them back in 2016 and they gave me a zip up hoodie and it still is in amazing shape with zero tears or loose threads.

Screen size depends on viewing distance, too. I have mine pretty far back so a 38" horizontal and 34" vertical are great (and I can have 3-4 windows open on the vertical and still use them - usually for teams, outlook, and any reference materials I might have)

My home weight set and workout bench were a really nice purchase for me. I paid $900 total for both and the adjustable weights are amazing. I feel healthier and its really easy to get a quick workout in. (Even better if you work from home like I used to)

I guess my purchases are a bit different. My list is; a welder, heated motorcycle gear, an ARB cooler and lastly, i ordered a brand new base model truck and as soon as its paid for i will buy another. But, its a practical tool that actually allows me to save and even make money. Ask me how.

Not a former World of Warcraft player? I always say it's the best hobby I've ever picked up. I have saved SO much money over the years using WoW as my form of entertainment. And my gaming PC, which is now 5 years old and still can play everything on the market, does a great job with video encoding, which I need for work, and can run anything I throw at it. I just love love love seeing gaming PC on this list.

Much agreed with the gaming PC. I paid nearly $8k on it to have top of the line specs and RGB. It's very pretty and it inspires me everyday to do my best. If I was lazy and didn't do anything, I wouldn't have a gaming PC like that.

Love this! I had this conversation recently among friends. My wife enjoys doing our laundry, I take care of the vehicles and PCs. When discussing what else we valued, a damn good chair! Office chair's are so undervalued and spending $400 or more for a good one has dramatically helped. 2nd to the desk our gaming setups are on 😂
