good video! they're all good tips tbh. Just one thing to add to the taming process you spoke about, is that food won't despawn when you sleep or..ever! if you just have a crafting table near it. :P Also creatures might not continue the taming process if you're too far away, cause the game makes them "disappear" to save you computer from lagging too much.

I have noticed that "Slash" damage is actually the Jack-of-all-Trades type, not many enemies are weak to it if any at all but neither many are resistant to it. This is especially relevant to the Abomination, an ugly four-legged trent, which has very high blunt resistance, medium pierce resistance yet NO resistance to Slash, making Axes and Swords best against it. Skeletons are not weak to Slash but they are not resistant either, can use a sword if a blunt is not available.
@lostinthought5621 Жыл бұрын
This makes a lot of sense. Currently exploring the swamp and felt like my iron sword takes down skeletons and draugers pretty easily. Forcing myself to use iron mace though to level up the XP for bonemass.

I just started playing yesterday and so far I’ve managed to build a decent base, get some flint weapons and a bow, kill a troll, die to trees like 4 times, and overall have a great time. Super fun and intuitive game, this is literally the first video I’ve watched and I made so much progress on my own. I actually got lucky with the troll and used the right weapons against it without knowing. I used my bow and fire arrows until it broke and then I poked him with the spear until he was dead. Worked like a charm. I died like 5 times before I got him though. I like that you can always get your stuff back , unlike Minecraft where it disappears eventually. That’s nice and forgiving

Excellent video. Probably one of the better how-tos I've seen. Been playing since it came out and I still learned something new lol. Nice to see you dipping your toes in other areas! Also, boars won't breed unless they are loaded in, so it's good to make your boar pen near your base. But piglets will grow up without being loaded in.
@jcfin1316 Жыл бұрын
So while the buckler vs shield topic is valuable info, it should be noted that buckler parries, when timed correctly, will actually block more damage than guarding with a shield. This is because most bucklers have a high parry bonus, which increases how much damage you can block without breaking poise. So for example, a shield may block 100 incoming damage and a buckler may block 50. But if that buckler has a parry bonus of x4, you can actually block 200 damage if you time it right
@Damiana_Swan Жыл бұрын
Re: taming - I like to set up walls outside the fence to block the boars' view of me, so they'll calm TF down, and also make them less likely to break out. My best tip, though, is that as soon as you have a pick, dig a nice deep moat around your base, then use your hoe and the stone you got from digging the moat to make raised earth walls just inside the moat. Raised earth walls *cannot be destroyed*, and the moat will help keep trolls with clubs from destroying your buildings (or killing your boars - base attacks do seem to target tames before players).

Your hogs keep running off when you want to catch a new one? Use the double door system. Place one door (entrance) and then, create a second pen with a door connecting both. Then, keep the boar on one pen and the middle door closed. Enter to the secondary pen with the boar, close the door and just open the middle door so the boar joins his buddies.

A great tip for early game berries is to mark the areas you find them on the map. Then when you run out just do a run by the marked spots collecting from all of the bushes. If you have marked enough then you will have enough to make what you need. Run out again? Run your circuit again. Tip for maling later game easier. Mark mushrooms and thistles as well.

Valheim is SO much fun, I love it, from its quirky artstyle (and yet STUNNING environments) to its gameplay and building. But yeah with tip #1, one of my Vikings must have listened to too many stories of Jormungandr, he did NOT fancy sailing when there might be serpents about. Also, I believe axes do Slash damage, which means that Abominations are weak against that.

Valheim is a great game. Be aware that serpents can and do spawn during the daytime and in clear weather although it is very rare. They only spawn in the ocean biome so check your mini-map in the upper right corner of your screen. It will tell you the biome you are in. Though serpents only spawn in ocean they will follow a player if they are aggro'd on them and will go into shallow water which you will need to do if you wish to get the drops of the scales and potential trophy. Only the meat from the serpent will float, all other drops will sink.
@matticonroy3884 Жыл бұрын
Don't go into new areas and loot things unless you're ready to have the enemies from that biome attack your base. I accidently picked up a dragon egg relatively early on by accident, and I had Drakes attacking my house before I'd even been to the Swamp, meaning I didn't have Iron or any decent arrows.

I am currently in Mistlands and fighting, and gathering supplies.. and right now I can parry an Seeker Soldier which is right now one of if not the heaviest enemy you can run into, and I am using chain armor and an black metal buckler.. and I don't have too much problem parry those attacks, its a bit hard to find the timing but over all its fine right now. I don't know if there is any 1stars of the Seeker soldier.. maybe but as so far seeker soldier is fine to parry even take one or two its. though.. the terrain does make it hard to fight them as most of the terrain in mistlands are cliffs and hills.. annoying stiff hills that drains your stamina.

in that case, i think its abit easier to make some surtletraps in the swamps (just chop away the earth around the "flamethrowers", so theres only water around them (and doesnt have to be deep either), that way the surtlings are spawned into water and dies instantly, giving you lots of coal and surtling-cores (and surtling-trophies for bait and light-source)

Ugh... Just heard number 1 and I'm already feeling for you. Large bodies of water/"Oceans" in games give me the absolute willies. Same with sunken and ghost ships, they make my hair stand on end >>;; I'm just thankful you don't have to dive underwater in Valheim (unlike some other survival crafting game that theme specifically around dinosaurs), I don't know how long I persisted on making either land bridges or desperately searching my first 'continent' for a Swamp Biome just to avoid the darn ocean. I do have a bit of a question though about the sea serpents: the meat tends to float on the water, but I find that the scales sink. How would you go about collecting those? Just harpoon the "Danger Noodle" (hah) and drag it to shore? Number 2: when I personally seen the damage types, I immediately thought of a quote from Diablo 1: "You can Cut the flesh, but you must Crush the Bone." It pretty much works for most games that have a physical damage type, but a handy little saying to have ^^ 3: I... I think it's pronounced "Ee-Terr"? At least that's what I've heard. But my silly brain wants to pronounce it as "Et [as it the 'ET' in Yet]-er" :x But "Magic" works fine 5: Maybe I'm just too darn used to Ark, but the sheer fact that you can't get boars to even follow you is a bit irritating. Wolves do, Lox you can literally ride via saddle, but boars? Oi... Regardless, if you can get yourself the harpoon, I heard that can work too (never tested it myself) 7: YES. Meads change everything, and its like the game attempts to tell you that (especially for the Mountain areas). I do wish you had more inventory slots in general for your gear, but you make due with what you can. Great tips though! A+ material as always mate~
@dim_reapa8977 Жыл бұрын
@Bartan Tirix There is a neat trick if you can kill the serpent in shallows. Whilst you swim on the surface, when you fall or jump into the water you will go under the water briefly. There's a cool feature of that - the higher you are when you jump, the deeper you go. So, from the shore, throw down a workbench and build wooden ladders over the area with sunken debris, climb the top and drop in. You should automatically pick them up but you'll also have a little time to manually grab them. This is really useful for retrieving nails from broken boats and ores (or scales) that always sink.

@SolearGnG Жыл бұрын
Yeah about those serpents: If they have spawned it doesn't matter if it's day or night they are there. I run into 3 in broad daylight when I was transporting wolves the other day.. Honey is great but another good thing to note, that the hives are defensive structures. If you put the around you entrance, the graylings attack them, and the bees fight back, most of the times killing the graylings in the process.
@IzPrebuilt Жыл бұрын
It shouldn't be possible to encounter them during the day unless it's raining because the night time ones despawn in the morning. So it's most likely that they stayed around after rain or you didn't notice the rain lol. valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Serpent
