I'm 73 and still ride occasionally , but I'ld be 6 feet under right now IF I didn't ride with the mind-set I've lived by, which is "Ride Like Your Invisible and expect the worst".

Yes sir! I’m 56 and my father taught me the same thing. Been riding since age 6 and so far so good! Many close calls though.

On your first point. Lane splitting has the extra benefit of preventing getting rear ended, but that's now why it got started. It started because air cooled motorcycles would overheat in the California traffic. It was tolerated to split lanes to keep air moving over the engines to keep them from overheating.

When I was stationed on SoCal back in the 80s, it was called "white-lining" and on an air cooled bike, it was a life saver!

I grew up in NorCal in the '60. Got a bike license at 15 and got my vehicle license at 16. Lane splitting was allowed in heavy traffic at 40 mph and slower. The CHP (my uncle was a trooper) advised to "share the lane" at no more than 5 to 10 mph faster than the surrounding traffic...."sharing the lane" was ment to be used in slow moving traffic. I can remember riding south on Hwy 101 from Santa Rosa when coming into heavy slow traffic near Larkspur and my buddy and I were riding our Sportys when 2 CHP bikes (Harleys at the time) entered into traffic behind us..split lanes and passed us. We looked at each other smiled and fell in behind them untill about The Marin Headlands. As they took the offramp one of the Troopers looked over at us pointed to his helmet as to say...wear a helmet boys....we waved back. back...those were the days.

Great video, passed bike test at 18 . 2months later got Tboned by a van; broken legs, back and arm; lost all confidence on two wheels and finally got a car. That was 50 years ago;; see idiots in cars every day that should loose their licence

I have 2 peeves that have caused me more trouble than any of the others. People who don't use turn signals and people turning into oncoming traffic. Personally, I've found that driving the speed limit will keep me out of almost every bad situation.

Especially true when cutting across oncoming traffic. It IS A BIG DEAL and causes many accidents!

I think driving the speed limit is beneficial when you're in two-way traffic but I actually try to ride 5 or 10 mph faster than traffic on the freeway. It gets me through other drivers blind spots quicker and it means that most of the danger will be in front of me. Less chance of getting rear-ended... Provided that I'm not parked in the left lane. YMMV

I have lots of lights on my bike, front and rear. When I’m stopped, I keep tracking my mirrors and when I see a vehicle behind me, I flash my brake lights a few times. I also keep my bike in gear just in case, not to mention I stay where I can move forward if needed. I live in Texas and land splitting is not legal here. I agree with the bright lights versus loud pipes. I have both just to make sure. BTW, I love that 2nd Amendment sticker. Where can I get some? I really with the H-D infotainment system GPS included weather. The weather band on the radio is about as effective as a fart in a hurricane.

in Cali, the law was put into place for air cooled bikes, back in the day cooling was a big problem for bikes like older HD's. GREAT VID!

When you mention skill first point prior to purchasing a motorcycle is invest in a Motorcycle Safety Foundation Course when I’m out riding I can always tell those who more than likely took a course verses those who learned from a friend. My wife wanted to ride my SuperGlide I told her take the class and we can talk based on passing class which she did! We live on a private lake only a mile around it, I let my wife ride around it as I could hear her. Later I found out she was taking my bike out and going on rides without me knowing until i caught her. Eventually I purchased my brothers Low Rider for her and we had many nice road trips together.

Another great video. At this point I just know that most people won’t use their turn signal so I ride accordingly. Spot on about the weather. Not only do I check for rain, but I also check wind speeds/gusts. There are times that I don’t ride my bike to work because of the wind. I’ll probably ride back roads, but no highway riding for me if the wind is too strong.

Great video and thanks for the list. I've been on the road for a while and my habit is to look at other parked vehicule's wheels when I pass them to see if they move or not. I ride a Goldwing and have enough room to keep my raingear in it all the time along with other things that might be usefull one day.

Hi, I just started watching your channel, and I agree with all the things you said that mostly bikers only understand. Understand. I've been riding since the early 90s. Since then I took a hiatus for about 8 years and started back in 2014. I used to have a Vulcan 900 custom. Loved it all stock. Since then I bought a 2010 Yamaha roadstar 1700, the heaviest and first big twin I ever had. Coming off the highway exit ram. I was coming into a turn too fast and went into the grassy berm, luckily my skill senses kicked in and I did not break. I did not turn and I had enough room to come to a stop naturally. During that time I was certain I was going to dump it. Other drivers saw what happened. Off and let me come back on to the road. I wave to say thank you and went on my way. Just a little bit of mud from the rain that day but I was riding home after buying it

Great advice and safety tip videos. You were definitely 1 of the ones I watched when getting and riding my first ever motorcycle this year. I wish all 50 states would make it against the law to not use your turn signals. Also, it should be required for everybody to retake the driving test every few years to help put better drivers (all vehicles) on the road and to help lower the mass casualty rate from accidents. The only 1 I'd say you missed was for bikes mainly, and cagers too, is to not lose your temper, in the moment, when someone does cut you off. So you can keep a clear head and not create your own mistake a couple hundred feet down the road. I know that is hard to do, but since starting to ride, I have gotten better at not getting as mad even in my work van or personal vehicles. I hope more new and experienced riders find your videos as helpful as I did.

Great video. Custom Dynamics’s lights, Especially the saddle bag latch lights, having turn signals on the side of the saddlebags is a big plus! 🇺🇸👍🏻

yuppers, every thing spot on. the only other one i can add, is the 2 second rule when in traffic. but with me being on a Honda Rebel (500 cc) i always make it 2 and a half seconds. i also sit on the right or left side of the vehicle in front in first gear, so if i do see someone coming up behind me too fast i can get out of the way. Great video, but i doubt car drivers are going to watch this. i wish they would.

I think the danger of getting rear ended is not as high as the chances of getting cut off by a lane changer. Sure they are supposed to check their mirror but usually they're just looking for a hole to jump into, not an approaching bike. I might split a lane if traffic is stopped but not when it's moving.

That's not correct. In multivehicular accidents involving motorcycles I think it's something like 80% are the bike being rearended at a stop.

I never was a biker but I was a trucker and I always made an effort to respect you guys now I do understand the importance of understanding the type of surface you’re riding on or driving on and I’m ashamed to say that was a weak area for me I damaged my own personal vehicles as well as the company assigned Tractors & Trailers I was responsible for I always hit holes & forign debris just poor scanning for the little details like pot holes dips gravel broken mufflers & pipes tree branch’s nails bolts

I feel motorcycle riders become better car drivers as the skills and habits seem to naturally carry over. I ride with my high beam on during the day same as they do in Europe and then switch to low beam and fog lights at dusk and night.

​@@Stoater1 Its presented in the MSF course - use high beans and amber fog lights. But I figure the Harley riders have loud obnoxious pipes that are really annoying, so I have loud lights that are annoying too. As the saying goes, loud lights save lives.

I've started riding when I was 11-years on gravel and dirt where my uncle lived. 1970 on my 16th birthday I was on the road legally. 1971 I passed my motorcycle test. 1982-ish I started driving lessons, my company insisted as they were worried for me going to sites on my cruisers. By my second driving lesson the driving instructor said bike riders make for better car drivers. 53 years riding my bikes daily or driving a company van around the UK, just one accident. I was rear ended in 1971 by a car who didn't want to stop while people crossed a zebra crossing. I also feel its good to have the luck god on your side at times. Safe happy cruising bro 👍.

I ride and live in California. I can't tell you how many times I've had to fade to one side then quick pass on the other side to split traffic. It's not always people trying to kill you. Peoples hands will follow their eyes and if they're watching you out of their side mirror, they'll veer toward you. I've had people do it on purpose but getting away from them is generally pretty easy.

Love your list. I agree with all of the points. Your last point with ALL BIKES being HD is so true…. When I had a 2019 Indian Roadmaster, a guy backed up to me and complimented me on my Harley. I chuckled and said thanks. I mean, the Roadmaster I was riding was the classic version with the locomotive fairing and fully valanced front fender. I wish there was a way to change that. Good video!

I recently bought a 07 Street Glide and one of the first upgrades I did was swapping the old incandescent headlight to a bright LED which made a world of difference.

I agree with everything you have said. I watch the radar every day even if im not riding a bike. I would add while riding on a highway or even a 4 lane road stop riding in someone's blind spot. Either pull ahead of that vehicle or slow down and make sure you give them room if they swerve. Great vid

68 Year old Road King Rider here; The day I put my first motorcycle on the road, at 1950 Panhead, I got a tattoo that said Ride to Live Live to Ride. I was a young father and knew that if I was going to live to ride, I had to ride in a manner that was conducive to living. However, that does not mean I have not had my low moments. I can tell you from experience, when you get rear ended on a motorcycle, You don’t go over the handlebars. You end up on the windshield of the car that hit you because your motorcycle gets knocked out from under you. I lost a nice KZ 1000 like that at a stop sign at the end of an on ramp, I should not have stopped. Also, I lived for three years, three miserable years in southern Florida. It led me to believe that high-end cars do not come with turn signals,

Like your video. A few comments... Lane splitting or filtering is allowed where I live in Europe. However... I tend to not do it. It does annoy most other road users. Also on the larger touring bikes, the bike will not always fit. Louder pipes... similar issue. Most people hate loud vehicles. Personally I find that, certainly on longer trips, the stock exhaust is best. Noise does make you tired. And, with regards to packing stuff, learn to travel light. I never have a problem but I used to fly accross the world on business, always with just cabin luggage. They have laundry services in most hotels...

Lane filtering is legal in some states, that is filtering to the front at a stop light. Lane splitting is legal in CA, that is riding between cars as the cars are moving.

I just rode a 1981 CB900F Coast to Coast with only a pack slung over my shoulder. 6000 miles and just a few hand tools to adjust the chain and cables. Full leathers in the rain and temps in the low 40s. This was my 5rh cross country ride. I will be 60 next year. I plan to mount a sidecar so I can take the dogs with me on the next trip.🐶🐶

I will occasionally weave back and forth, so I catch the attention of the car in front of me and behind me and break their tunnel vision. I also will automatically drift away front the direction of their turn signal to give myself an avenue of escape if they decide not to turn or jam the brakes and do something weird.

I agree with most of what you said. I have been riding metric cruisers for 5+ decades. About a decade in Southern California where lane splitting is legal. The only reason I ever split lanes was to get around the cagers. Although I do maintain lane positioning to prevent getting hit from the rear or smashed between 2 cages. So I get what your saying. About the "nice Harley " comments. I just say "thank you". I know what they mean. No need to make them feel stupid and I'm not going to teach them the difference. As far as turn signals. I totally agree. Before they were standard on bikes. I used hand signals.

Bassani Road rage for the win. I got this exhaust last year and wow, what a difference. Yes its loud, sounds awesome but people know I'm there. With people seeming to get dumber behind the wheel every year, good pipes are an absolute requirement.

Turn signals. I had someone almost side swipe me a few weeks ago. They didn't look, we were in traffic. No signal...just went into me as I was going about 30. Someone was coming up fast in the other lane next to me, so the best bet was brakes and horn. Of course the driver did the typical "Don't look don't look don't look!" At the light as I pulled next to them lol

one thing you might want to add: some level of protective gear. i shudder every time i see a rider in t-shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes. road rash is not to be taken lightly. everyone (me included) violates th ATGATT mantra at times but the gear is as important as the skill set.

Weather comment. My Challenger has weather radar that can be overlaid on the gps display and I can look around hundreds of miles. Being a retired pilot, 40 years worth of both fixed and rotary wing, I love any kind of weather radar and the Indian version works well.

Do loud pipes save lives? The answer is a firm NO. In some instances a car driver may indeed notice you, such as when you're riding next to a car which has the driver's side window down. Situations like this one are extremely rare. Most dangers to motorcyclists come from the front, where your loud exhaust can't be heard; the sound waves from the exhaust pipe(s) propagate backward. The driver of that car about to make a left turn in front of you (by far the largest cause of motorcycling deaths) simply will not hear you. Think about it: picture yourself in a car, with the windows up, the A/C (or heat) on, and the radio at a comfortable level. Just how much outside noise do you think YOU hear? Especially the noise traveling away from you, where only the few sound waves that bounce back are even capable of being heard in the first place... How loud exhaust can actually be dangerous to you Research has shown that the biggest cause of fatigue on long rides is noise. Noise from your own bike will tire you out faster, dulling your senses and thus increasing the risk of an accident - precisely the thing that you were trying to avoid in the first place. Have you ever thought about how annoying the loud pipes are to the car drivers around you? Especially to the ones who have to follow you for miles in dense traffic? While it has never been proven, it is possible that noise from your motorcycle makes car drivers irritated, angry, more aggressive, and thus more dangerous to you.

I just caught your video. Interesting concept re lane splitting. Here in the uk it’s all about making progress. Lane splitting is about getting some where quicker. There are no safety benefits. In fact it’s very risky with drivers not paying attention and changing lanes without looking. In the Uk it’s accepted practice but you better have an owls head on when you’re doing it. All the best.

As a commercial driver, we are drilled constantly on safety practices that we have to commit to memory and literally recite them. There's a lot of them but probably the most important is following distance. If a vehicle in front of you is doing 40 then you can't do more than 40 whether you are 10 ft behind them or 100 yards. Stay back where others can see you and where you can see 12 seconds of travel time down the road. Tap your horn to make eye contact with anyone pulling out from a stop sign or driveway. Always clear an intersection regardless of right of way.

1st time viewer & new sub. I can't argue with any of the items on your list but I believe the loud pipes could use some modifying discussion. But that's a topic for another time. My reason for this comment this morning is to bring your attention to a safety hazzard that is new in my sixty years of riding. Over the last 2-3 years in my little corner of south Alabama at least, I've noticed a rapid increase in the number of UPS trucks driving around with their emergency flashers on. I dont remember ever seeing a Fedex or Amazon truck doing this. The large UPS trucks frequently can't negotiate the narrow driveways & overhanging limbs in this area so finding them parked in the road is not uncommon. The incident that 1st brought this to my attention happened about 3 years ago. As I approached one such UPS truck from behind it was apparent that they were creeping along probably reading addresses. As I dropped into 3rd gear with just enough speed to keep the 04 883 from lugging the truck stopped in the road. I did what I believe any other responsible rider would have, I checked the other lane front & rear, added a little throttle for responsiveness which increased the volume of the Vance & Hines exhaust and I gave the stopped truck the widest clearance I could as I passed. I was already in precautionary mode as my front tire passed the rear bumper of the truck and the driver started a left turn, less than a second later as my tire passed the drivers door I was in 2nd gear at half throttle with the exhaust proclaiming my objections very loudly! About a half mile later as I eased the bike into 5th & checked the mirror the truck was still sitting catty cornered across both lanes. The point here being that while the louder than normal pipes might not have done much to prevent this near miss they certainly had a profound effect on the other driver afterwards. 😈😁

They should be putting extra lighting on at the factory. I never ride next to a car or next to their front or rear bumper. That’s an accident waiting to happen

Been riding decades. Sharing my 50 cents. Lane splitting/filtering varies by state/by country. Some countries employ two stop lines. The first for other traffic, the next for motorcycles. Bikes accelerate quicker so it works. But blasting between cars is plain stoopid, especially at speed. Extra lights are good, but remember don’t blind the other guy, which could end worse. Blind spot monitoring? Still do shoulders checks! Don’t just trust the technology. Ever heard of blind spots. Loud pipes work in traffic, but not at high speed, and they annoy the general public including your neighbor (haters). Defensive riding is good, lowers risk of repairs and hospital bills. Don’t care? Want to stay with faster riders? Go for it. If you value your life? then plan ahead. See the hazards. Plan lines through bends, entry speed, braking points, gears, acceleration, exit lines and maintain awareness and assessing risks. Always wear gloves, boots and a helmet. Road rash, broken bones, $10 helmet = $10 head. All of the above is for comment only. You do you. Stay safe.

Ugggg... My last partner had a Roadking with obnoxious lights. He wanted me to ride in front, not a problem until after dark, those things were blinding! I don't miss him or his bike. Grrrr On the pipe thing...I won an old barhopper 883 sportster. It's baffles had been removed. That thing is "get you evicted loud." I found that even though the bike could be heard 5 minutes before it arrived ( slight exaggeration) , cars changed lanes on me like nothing I experienced on either of my larger Honda Cruisers. The pipes did nothing for me except give me a headache. She's getting a quieter exhaust, extra headlights, highway bars, and a faring. I truly believe this one needs to "fatten up" a bit for safety.

Great video! As for the lane splitting point, I'm in New York where it is not legal. But that's not why I don't do it. In my 50 years' experience I've seen bikes get clipped by cars changing lanes without warning. Now you're caught between two cars. Not a pretty sight. I do understand about the air-cooled engines, I myself own two and at times you got to do what you got to do. There's pros and cons to both sides of that coin. God Bless and ride safe out there!

It's a bit different in California because people are expecting bikes to lane split. I've driven there a lot on vacation and it's shocking at first as a driver because you're just not accustomed to watching for bikes coming between cars

I think people that learn on a dirt bike are better riders when they get to the street. Though I have been told that traffic is a new experience and has its own learning curve. I went straight from the showroom to the street and it took 6 months for me to relax and enjoy the riding.

I found as a motorcyclist for over 50 years dont know how many times i found that a lot of people when a very loud bike passes bye when in a car it startles them they panic and put on they're brakes potentially causing an accident its like when listening to the raidio and they play a siren in the song your looking to see where its coming from not paying attention to the road just my opinion, and i like loud sounding bikes.

And one of the thing you mentioned about turn signals and brake lights and you showed a picture of a stock rear fender brake light to an aftermarket one. I don't understand two things people who got to modify their bikes and put the smallest brake lights on the back of their bikes on a sunny day no one's going to see it and two I'm surprised the Nationals highway safety whatever the government calls it allows Harley-Davidson have two little lights on the majority of their bikes for brake and turn signals. I got an 2004 Electra glide and I bought that kit that turns the turn signals also into brake lights in running lights. I'm a strong believer of having good brake lights and I can't believe like I already said Harley-Davidson on majority of their bikes has these two little turn signals for brakes and turns.

Love the custom dynamics triple play module that flash brake lights. I'm surprised how far back cars stop behind me when I keep the lights flashing while they are approaching.

Speaking of turn signals, if you are turning left at a crossroads, you go last, you would not believe how many drivers get mad at me for obeying this law,even though it's common sense, SUBBED

I know I check the weather on a regular basis. Every single day, I try to stay up on the weather. I use to do this because I was in the concrete business and rode when I could. Now, it is solely because I ride. I will ride every day if possible. Sometimes in the rain if necessary.

My biggest thing is on the highway making sure im never in the center lane and never in a blindspot going through traffic. Also on local roads wait an extra second when a light turns green and anyone i see about to turn i slow down and look and their face to see where their eyes are looking.

Been riding over 50 years. Only accident on a bike with an automobile was being rear-ended at a stop light. Dumped it once going around a corner when I hit some sand.

I ride my bike every single day and one thing I always do is flash my brake lights before slowing down. If I’m stopped and no one is behind me and I see someone coming I’ll hit my brakes 3 times fast when they get closer I get them again 3 times. It seems to work because the vast majority of people stop a good car length and a half behind me. Also my head is pivoting 360 all the time. The storage sucks for sure. I own a business and am always taking packages to thr post office and have to make multiple trips. I also wouldn’t advise lane splitting in Mississippi, Texas or Louisiana. Too many people will swerve to prevent you. I get the reasoning but there is no way I would split lanes.

Great video. An army buddy of mine lost not one but two wives because they were rearended by a car. Nick is no longer able to ride, not even a trike, because of his injuries.

Lane splitting is always legal in CA and is now legal in AZ on any roadway with a speed limit 45 or more MPH.

There ‘s other types of signals like you asked for suggestions for future vids. HAND SIGNALS to other riders for safety or just communication. I really enjoyed your vid and thought that it was educational to the point. Made my wife watch it… :) so to the point. Thumbs down to the gas tank, tapping on the top of helmet, hand pushing in a downward motion, of course your basic hand signals that everyone’s too proud to use.

My biggest thing when I ride im constantly looking for an escape , weather in traffic or out on the open road , my head is constantly on a swivel , always try to plan for the worst while enjoying the ride .

I always stay at the center line woth vehicles left and right of me, give me braking time and lane movement. You can always take equipment or clothes off but you can't always add. 50 years of riding sportbikes and 20 year working for Harley you learn alot, ive been down and always wear the right equipment so i can write this now.

I'm in deer country. Well I'm not a huge fan of obscenely loud pipes, I upgraded mine in the hopes that the deer might actually get the hell out of my way. Upgraded all of the lighting too so that I can see them a little better

We have wild pigs where I live and most of them are black. I've seen the damage they do to trucks that hit them, I'd hate to be the one that nails one on a motorcycle.

​@@BBD40Definitely. 15 years ago, I had a drunk chick jaywalk in front of me from a Waffle House. Swerved so hard that I threw my wife off the back but still couldn't miss her. Somehow I didn't lay the bike down, but I knocked her about 50 ft. Thought I killed her but she woke up 3 days later with some broken bones and a concussion. I still ride like I'm invisible but sometimes it just doesn't matter. Fortunately we were wearing gear so my wife walked away with some relatively minor knee damage. Stay safe out there.

I'm in Ca. I split at stop lights for two reasons. To get ahead of the pack (safer) and the damn exhaust fumes when you sit behind a car are horrible.

Hi, enjoyed your video on 7 things only a biker will understand...I'm from California and lane splitting originated from a highway patrol officer on an air cooled bike in commute traffic he started lane splitting so the bike doesn't overheat and it just stuck....all your reasons are valid but not the reason.

I almost got taken out when a car to my left decided to take a right turn and didn’t see me. I don’t have ABS brakes. They were a truck with a bed and I barely made it without getting hit from them- and luckily there was no one behind me.

I don't have a loud pipe, but I do have a loud horn. The sound insulation is cars has got so good they don't hear the traffic, just sirens, horns and crashes. In fact my Energica Experia doesn't have an exhaust, as it doesn't have an engine, just a battery and motor. So I don't contribute to increasing extreme weather for my rides by burning gasoline.

The motorcycle wind chill. When riding in cold temps. It always feels 10 or 15+ degrees colder on a bike. Especially on naked bikes and bikes with little or no windshields.

When going on through a really busy or complicated intersection I will toot my horn a coupled times. The horn on a motorcycle has purpose and its to be noticed.

Thankfully "Lane splitting" is Lawfull in the UK, and is taught on Motorcycle Training Courses,, and the Highway Code that everyone must comply with, states in its instructions to car drivers in Rule 151 " in slow moving traffic you should :" "* be aware of cyclists and motorcyclists who may be passing on either side.", and in " rules for Motorcyclists" Rule 88, "Position yourself so that drivers in front can see you in their mirrors. Additionally, when filtering in slow-moving traffic, take care and keep your speed low."

Lane splitting is legal in some states i know California Arizona and Utah for sure its legal and i know there are several states considering legalizing the practice to include Texas Oregon and Missouri

I work at a dealer, and I will say the same thing I tell my customers. Do not rely on one single thing that you think will make you visible. Be that hi-vis gear, loud pipes, lights. Get them if you think they are cool. But please do not think that white helmet or Screamin' Eagle will be the thing that makes you safe. Cause the second you think that you'll get lax.

I do wish they allowed lane splitting here. I was nearly rear-ended by a distracted driver that was going 55-60 while traffic was stopped at a red light. I was a few feet from being crushed between 2 cars during that accident. Thankfully, I was watching my mirrors while I was at the light and peeled off onto the shoulder just in time to avoid it.

I have flashing brake lights. And night time riding I don't do it. Close calls with deer and other drivers. Sunset I'm in the hotel room. I use to have loud pipes. That just drove me nuts. I had a pop up storm and it rained so heavy that I had to pull off the side of the highway because 18 wheelers were blowing water all over me. Maybe carrying reflectors to put out on the road . To give drivers a heads up your are on the side of the road.

Lane splitting keeps them from being rear ended but at the cost of rear ending someone yourself when people decided to switch lanes sporadically with no blinker. I like how you found a reason for it though.

Leaving some space at a stop light is a big one for me so many cars cross into that space when turning so i always leave a gap awesome seeing biker rags in your video it's a regular stop for me the owners are great and more than fair on prices

From the UK perspective, lane spliting is done so motorcyclist aren't stuck in traffic when they dont have to be. There are also some areas at traffic lights that cars cannot enter to allow cyclist and by extension motorcyclists easy, dafe and quicker starts so as to not be crowded in, rear-ended or crushed. We at least have sorted that process out on our roads to some degree.

In most places in the UK, cycle lanes are not legally usable by motorcycles, but some bus lanes are. I pass on the outside rather than go into a bicycle line.

Lane splitting (in CA) was legalized to help reduce traffic, thus reducing fuel consumption, but there are speed limits to lane splitting. Keeping the engines cool was an added benefit

When stopped in traffic, never stop in Neutral and stay to the right or left in the lane to provide escape route if car behind is approaching to fast and has to brake hard.

Excellent Vid Heg ! My Peve is when you are cruising along at say 60 and some Dumb-azz cager comes up behind you and then zips around you and then slows to say 50 ...... Another is commercial trucks pulling empty and trying to do 70 up the hill so as not to have everyone and their side-kicks whining when you know Darn well that the azz in the truck seat is going to slow down at the top of the hill....... But . My biggest Gripe is that 98% pf cagers don't have their side-view mirrors aimed correctly. They actually have them looking at their gas caps or the RH passenger door.... instead of Down the Lanes to the Left and Right of their vehicles, No wonder they quip that " They didn't see us" Mirror alignment is crucial to safe operation of any vehicle be it cage or bike. To my fellow riders ..... Lane position is everything .....Dominate your lane position and always leave yourself an "out" My additional thinking is ..... Everyone, and I mean Everyone.... needs to get their MC, ( Class 6 ) endorsement before they get their class 5, ( cager ), endorsement. For those that don't ride and are reading this rant. ... I will put it out there for you in simple Terms : If You Don't Ride ...... You Don't Know...... Stay Safe !
