1 thing that saves me tons of money is ordering my groceries online from my local walmart then picking it up. They bring it right to the car. I'm a terrible impulse shopper. So order/pick up keeps me honest. I have less waste too.

I’m stuck in the comparison. Almost 30 with my husband and three children now, last one on the way. I can’t help but feel like I should be where my parents were when they had four kids and could afford vacations, a nice home, private school and activities for all of us. I really need to change that mindset and focus on what my husband and I make to make the most of what we make and not worrying about how my parents did it (my dad was absent from our lives quite a bit with work and I think that factored into the amount of money that was coming in.). I was a single mom from 20 to 26 so it was very tough to save. I don’t blame being a mom and I could have lived with a little less but I never set aside money to save. Just set up a 401K and also have an IRA now for funds to invest also. Trying hard!! We are so close to having our emergency fund goal met!

In order to grow your money, you need to put it in a place where it can earn a high rate of return. The higher the rate of return, the more money you will earn. Investment vehicles tend to offer the opportunity to earn higher rates of return than savings accounts. Therefore, if you want the chance to earn a higher return on your money, you will need to explore investing your money.

I have one credit card. I paid one bill with it every month, then pay it in full. I do this to keep my credit score up. That's it. I don't buy things with it. I don't even carry it with me. I am almost debt free. Just the loan for a reliable used car, and that will soon be paid off as well.

Our mindset can drive us to where and what we want to become. It's always suggested to work on changing our mindset first before we can achieve our goal, as having enough resources and capacity without the proper mindset always ends us failing our goals.

Talk about a mind shift! I started thinking about purchases in hours I needed to work to earn that amount and than deciding if my time was worth it. So if I want to purchase something for $100 and I make $20 per hour, it would take 6 hours with taxes to make that money. Or I would have to work most of a full day of work to earn it. When I looked at purchases this way, that shirt suddenly does not look as cool.

I agree with all he points except for the credit card one. You can have a credit card, pay it in full, pay 0 in interest, fallow a budget and build wealth. A credit card is a tool, it can be use responsibly or it can be abused and it can destroy you. But at the end of the day is about your spending habits.

Yes, finally someone has touched on the topic of kids activities. My husband and I are great about not buying extra purchases, saying no to ourselves, budgeting, living below our means-but kids sports are so $$!! Can you please talk about that more. How to balance the cost of those. (I am talking private lessons, sports teams monthly fees, tournament fees, + travel sports team fees including hotel, transportation) There is a ton of guilt associated with cutting out/back. (Fear of kid missing out, quitting, not reaching 'full potential' Any tips/advice or a video would be so appreciated.

Driving can be a big hog if our money. I grew up with going somewhere every single day. If 3:00 hit and we hadn’t at least gone to the grocery store we were trying to figure out where to go. When things got tight, I’d wait to do all the errands on one day. Sometimes even a Walmart run or Costco run could just wait a few extra weeks.

I enjoyed these words of inspiration and the pep talk! I would love to hear some stories of what does it take to change your mindset, and how does that then change what you do? Akin to that great tip about being specific and measurable in writing down your goals. I would truly enjoy hearing an interview you might hold with someone who was on the other side who had a lightbulb moment and came over to the smart money management side - and I would love to hear these stories about millennials who have made the transition to thinking and acting differently about money.
