I am 67 years old, been in Ghana for 3 months. What I have learned, you got to want to be here in order to be here. Paradise is in one's heart and one's mind. God's love is my paradise.

Greetings are very important everywhere in the world. I grew up in London, where it wasn't a thing. But since moving to the suburbs I realised that greeting people was part of the culture here as well. My friend from the Isle of Wight also told me that everyone greets on the island and it's a sign of disrespect if you don't, and no one will come to your aid if you get into trouble.

I think that you are correct about doing your research. But most of us think that we can do this online and that is a mistake. Ghana doesn't have enough updated information online. I also tell people if they have never started a business before don't come to a foreign country to try our entrepreneurship. Most African Americans obtain education and look to work for someone else. Jobs are not readily available so a source of income is important. We also are not home builders and owners, most of us have only been renters. And in the States we are used to calling the landlord when things go wrong. NOT in Ghana, many expect you to maintain the property and pay for all repairs. Your suggestion to have a year's worth of money saving. Thanks also for explaining citizenship. The recent mass citizenships is giving a false narrative.

@@IvyProsper I visited Ghana in 2023 for 3 weeks and have been planning and prepping for my return all through 2024. 2025 I plan on visiting again to hopefully purchase a home. Quick question Ivy. I have some technology and supplies I'd like to move to Ghana when I come. These supplies are needed so I can continue to make money as an artist / animator. In your opinion, what would be the best way to ship my supplies over to Ghana, safely? Supplies include: Computer monitor, Computer Desktop, Foldable Tables, Printer, Computer Chair, maybe a 50inch TV, and possibly Six 18gallon totes filled with Clothes, Art Supplies, Video Game Consuls, and other Miscellanies things. Thank you...

Miss Ivy I think you need to do an entire video on building your network in Ghana. This is the biggest blind spot for returning Diasporans especially those that do not have Ghanaian parentage. Frankly most Diasporans do not know how to build solid networks in Ghana because they come from a transactional and individualistic culture. Another mistake......relationships take time to form and mature. Plus they must be reciprocal. Again when you are obsessed with efficiency and productivity you miss the necessary cues and cultural norms and FAIL. It is an art not a science. Finally the importance of communal culture and communal obligations.......yes plenty funerals are a nuisance but they are also social currency that matters more than hard currency.

Rosie, why don't you do a video on this? You've shared some very important stuff in this short comment that can be expanded to help folks.

1. Land is leased for 50 years not owne. There's a big difference between owning and leasing. 2. Be smart. Not emotional.

My first choice is Nigeria but it’s starting to become unstable so for right now it’s Ghana. I’m looking for a Yoruba community. Do you know what areas they are in?
