When quixel mixer implements a baker and some more painting tools i will uninstall substance for sure

Sébastien Deguy ex CEO of Allegorythmic is now in charge of the 3D immersion division of adobe, technicly now they made a new modeling tool that adobe need to be a self containe 3D package, it's crazy to use substance material directly to illustrator and Photoshop, it open à lot of possibility if they put this in to after effect... The best alternative is 3D Coat it merge a zbrush like modeler and PBR texture all in one, Blender also can be use for painting but manage roughness map is still difficult to bake.

Substance is an amazing program. Really don't care for Adobe taking over. Don't get me wrong, Adobe makes great products. My problem is their business model of subscription fees. You never really own anything. You are renting it at a owning price. So I will never rent their products if they have a subscription fee. Me personally try to upgrade programs every 2-3 years. Cause most of the time, they are not huge leaps to needing to upgrade every year. In 3 years usually they added enough to upgrade. On a program I only use some of the time. Subscription fees are a rip off imo. Yeah you get an upgrade when the new version comes out. But are all the features worth it. Most of the time 1-2 are really useful upgrades but not amazing, the rest are sub par. Yet you're forced to pay top rate, Or you can't use the program at all. The only reason Adobe gets away with it is because of lots of companies using their products. Which get tax write offs buying it. A normal person can't get some of that money back. And probably don't need to use it daily like a business. I just wish they had one time purchase options with all their products. I wouldn't mind paying for a year subscription price to own it. That way next year I'm not paying more money to use it. On something I only use once in awhile. And isn't worth paying top price again for mostly minor upgrades. I probably won't ever use.

Adobe is my nightmare for Substance Painter, which I don't want to use in a package. I don't want Substance Designer or Modeler, just Painter. And it looks like it won't even be offered on Steam anymore.
