Hello, Ainsley. I've been seriously thinking about making a permanent move from Toronto to Victoria. I want to retire somewhere that's smaller, quieter, less busy, and warmer than Toronto. This video was very helpful. I know it's not going to be easy to find a one -bedroom rental In Victoria or the surrounding communties such as Oak Bay, but I am definitely planning to move within the next year or so. I will be in Victoria July 2023, and would appreciate your help in setting up a meeting with someone that could help me find suitable one-bedroom rentals. Thanks very much.

Yyj is a perfect downsize retirement if you are from yyz yul or yvr and your house is paid off. Having lived there, expect 8-15 degree sunny days in the winter, and no oppressive humidity or heat in the summer. The beaches forests and sights are awesome. And dont forget, you are a beautiful 100$ 30 minute return harbour flight to yvr, so really, you are living there as well. I cant wait to move there!

Rent for a 1 br with no amenities is $2400 a month. A $60 bag of groceries includes 300 gr of sliced beef, a bottle of mayo, s pack of cheese slices, 3 cans of prepared chili, 2 cans of sliced mushroom’s and 1 steak.

One surprise for me, moving from Surrey to a Victoria suburb (Saanichton) was the increase in food prices. They say it's because of the ferry cost, but even produce and dairy made here is expensive. Also the streetlights are very inadequate. Along the Patricia Bay highway are long tracks without any lights and existing light are very dim. But it is oh,so pretty here. Lots of farmlands and undeveloped woodsy areas. I would never go back. Ferry travel is also expensive and restrictive time wise.
@ainsleygowervictoriarealestate2 жыл бұрын
Hey Birgit, thanks for your comment. Yes the ferry does add cost to bringing food over here, making it more expensive and yes restrictive. And I totally appreciate your comment about ferry traffic, I actually discuss that point in my latest Video titled "Moving to Victoria". Thanks for your comment!

There is a shortage of doctors clinics and GPs in general. This could be an important reason to know before moving to Victoria right now and Duncan area.

Is there easy to find part time jobs in victoria?
@vulcaneir27582 жыл бұрын
So, are you saying that within the span of 2 to 3 years, the cost of renting may decrease? I am asking this question coz I am sort of moving to Victoria, UVic to be precise. I am just making sure that majority of my finances are not totally spent on rent.
@ainsleygowervictoriarealestate2 жыл бұрын
Hey Vikas, thanks for your message. The rental market is extra difficult right now I think a number of factors have attributed to that. Some people stopped renting rooms to University students during COVID so that put a lot more pressure on other rentals and then COVID also gave so many people the flexibility to work remotely and therefore more people were choosing to move out to Vancouver Island which also put pressure on the rental market. I'm not sure where we will be in 2-3 years but with inflation right now it's hard to imagine it would be cheaper in a few years time to rent. It all boils down to supply and demand and as long as there is this much demand I think prices will continue to rise but hopefully they will rise a lot slower than they have in the previous 2 years. Hope that help and how exciting that you'll be going to UVIC!
@vulcaneir27582 жыл бұрын
@@ainsleygowervictoriarealestate Thank you for answering my query. So what r my options then? Should I live in the dorms or rent a basement room or should I live in the outskirts of Victoria?
@ainsleygowervictoriarealestate2 жыл бұрын
@@vulcaneir2758 Hey Vikas, they are adding new housing at UVIC this year and next year, you can read more here: uvic.ca/news/topics/2022+uvic-housing-forum+news that might be a great option for you. If you have a car it's cheaper to leave in the outskirts of Victoria, it's hard to say for sure what your best options will be until a little closer to the time!

the rent will not decrease Vikas it will keep going up. we might see it relax in the next 3 to 5 years
