Did you know the film is seen through Edwards eyes, the reason the town looks so bright and perfect, is because that's how it looked to Edward.

When I watch this movie, I genuinely feel so bad and so sympathetic for Edward...and yes, I know, he ain't real..but I don't know why, maybe the way Jonny depp makes his face a certain way...am I just weird?

This movie came out when I was 11 years old, and I remember that I fell so, so, so hard in love with Johnny Depp after seeing it. I was like completely enamored. At a time before the internet where I couldn't even talk with other fans about it because I didn't know anyone else who liked the movie as much as I did, and at the time I was too embarrassed to tell anyone how infatuated I was XD

@Rand V Oh, HONEY, I love when someone who is 24 thinks they know about the earl internet. What came out in 1983 wasn't the internet that you're thinking of. It was only available to universities and researchers, and it wasn't used to communicate with people or socialize. It was used to access research articles and the like via hyperlinks and available to a closed (inter) network (net). The World Wide Web (meant for the WORLD), which could be used for personal contact, was released in 1991, and access was privileged. Most home computers weren't compatible with it, and those who had computers that could run it and the ability to connect to the WWW were charged an hourly fee. This didn't change until the very end of 1996. Until then, the WWW wasn't used for socializing or chatting with fans of movies. You paid $9.95 for the first five hours a month, then $2.95 per hour after that. That would be about $17 and $5 today accounting for inflation. When AOL started a monthly flat fee of $19.95, or about $35 today, those who had computers that would run the WWW started connecting, but there was a catch. It would tie up your phone line, and the connection was so incredibly slow that people often kept books at their computers to read while "image heavy" pages loaded. It could take a couple minutes for a single photo, which is why so many early webpages used lots of bright neon colors instead. That loaded faster. You don't understand the difference between the internet and the world wide web. Despite calling them both "the internet" now, they weren't the same things at all, and technically still aren't. When Edward Scissorhands came out, there literally were NOT websites for movie fans, and the internet was literally for rich people only, and even they didn't have websites for people to bullshit around on. At that time, the internet was a research tool. So, HONEY, I really suggest you take a step back and stop pretending that your conceited Gen Z self knows anything about the early internet and WWW, especially when talking to people who were there, and stop patronizing those who were. You were well over a decade from even being. a sperm in your dad's nuts in 1991. Go ask him what his favorite websites were to visit in the 1980's, and even he will tell you that the internet (as you're thinking of it, aks the WWW) wasn't available yet.

#8 ~ And I'm really surprised this one wasn't mentioned. Turns out that the studio execs. had only agreed to Vincent Price being on set for just a handful of days to shoot all the scenes he was in. Burton had shot so many takes of those scenes that Price had to stay on longer than expected. And of course, had to be paid for those extra days. The execs. were so angry about this that they went down to see Burton. They insisted he wrap up those scenes right away and get rid of Price. Unfortunately, Price overheard what they were saying and it really upset him. (Especially as after his real death, it was revealed that Price worried about money all his Life. And even worried he'd die penniless or even worse that he'd run out of money and end up on the streets.) Burton though was furious with the studio execs. and their demands. (Along with how they were disrespecting such an accomplished actor back in the day, as Vincent Price.) Burton basically laid down the law, told the execs. to screw off, and told them Price was staying as long as it took for him (Burton) to be satisfied with the scenes Price was in. The execs. left with their tails between their legs.

Edward Scissorhands is my favorite Tim Burton movie. However, why fit Edward with scissorhands to begin with? Especially if you plan on replacing them at a later time? At least the inventor could have given Edward something safer to use as hands in the meantime, like maybe spoons or mannequin hands or anything else that's not sharp and clumsy.

I guess its rlly just personal opinions, I get if you weren't into fantasy and stuff like that, u probably just wouldn't enjoy it but I just dont get people that call it shitty. Even if your not into that kind of thing calling it shitty is suggesting that it was made poorly or is generally just not good, but even if your not into it u can still clearly see that it is directed well, is acted amazingly, and complements the story extremely well. I personally think its amazing. Ok that's my rant over
@ktw5574
@ktw5574 3 жыл бұрын
@@carys.bridges4696 Exactly. I understand why some people might not like the movie (hell, when I was younger I never even got past where she fell into the rabbit hole), but it's clear there was _effort_ put into it. People throw the word "shitty" around far too often, and most of the time it's because they can't seem to come up w valid criticism as to why. I think the movie is great, and it's okay if others don't. But "shitty," like you said, insinuates the idea of it being "poorly made," when that movie was anything but.

Once spoke with the head Sound Designer of Edward Scissorhands. He said the actual prop hands made god awful crunching/grinding noises. And they had to carefully replace the sounds of his hands with foley recordings of swords, knives, shears, and scissors. Apparently they looked far and wide to find the most "ethereal" sounding blades to do this.

I knew the castle was a miniature but I didn't know the specifics of how they got it to appear perfectly when she turns the car mirror. Also, I didn't know about Johnny Depp throwing up after 20 takes of the food scene. He was a real trooper through this film. Totally deserved an Oscar, if only for having to wear that uncomfortable costume in the unforgiving Florida heat.
