CBJFan9729 Well in some cases [like Dryden likely based on past instances] the player/next of kin might just not be interested in licencing deals, with EA or at all, regardless of the money or might be asking for "too much". Either way, it seems more like EA gotta EA and they just found a couple big names and then just padded out the list with a bunch of lower calibre alumni who would sign for what they wanted to spend just for the sake of being able to claim "Over 200! Legends!".

This year should be the 8.5 and last year the 8. The skating alone makes this year a better game. After playing the beta and feeling the "on ice" difference I had no desire to touch 18 again. No frostbite engine is a bummer. New modes are fun for an hour or 2 but tend to get boring quick. Shocking that ONES is online only and no couch co-op. World of CHEL customization is cool and they added more variety to your online charter in that you now can pick the height/weight of your play style and add perks. However getting into drop-ins seems to be more difficult at least for 6v6. HUT objectives and milestones makes it more enjoyable to grind. As well as all the legends added but agreed that it's weird you can't use them in other modes if you choose. I'm really enjoying the new scouting and fog of war for franchise. Adds more realism if you like that or you can always shut it off or even choose parts of it to turn off. Cool also that players retire and can become scouts. I wish they would add coaches and do the same. Be a pro has a perk tree now otherwise it's pretty much unchanged. They didn't add enough to this game to make it amazing but it's a definite improvement on last year and hope that it's building to something even better.

I really think something EA should add to Be a Pro mode is the ability to practice with your own player. If you work on skills with your team and with trainers, you should be able to gain exp but not as much as when you are playing an actual game. Get to work EA!

NHL 18 got a higher rating than 19... okay. I don't know how this video has so many likes, 19 is a million times better than 18, its not because 19 is some ridiculously amazing game, its because NHL 18 is absolute garbage.

Jonathan Fox The gameplay in NHL 19 is better than NHL 18. As it should be, since it came out a year later using the same engine, just with improved skating mechanics. So yes, the gameplay has been improved, and the game plays better as a result of that. The decline in score is more representative of a lack of interesting additions game mode wise. Too many modes have either received slight tweaks that don’t add up to much, or are brand new and lack any real depth. If anything, NHL 18 didn’t deserve as high a score, but you can’t go back and retroactively change game scores. Comfortable with NHL 19 being an “8” though. Are you kidding me? Both are shit but 19 is so much worse. Everything about the game, the menus, the online gameplay feels its moving through mud. It's so laggy and sloppy I can't fucking play online. This is on the same console that I won div 1 seasons in NHL 15. The microtransactions are cancer, the hut player loans are fucking dumb, the skating looks cool but feels really slow (unless you're offline with good players). Every year since 2015 has declined in playability imo. 19 frustrates the shit out of me to the point that I stopped playing it

I think that something ea needs to improve on is making more of a storyline for be a pro like they did back in chel 15. It doesn’t need to be huge but just to put a little effort in and make your pro interact with other players on your team as well as a manager and fans. You don’t even need to do that just bring back options for sponsorships and billboards as well as interviews and moral choices and how every move you make changes how people think about you. I also think in be a pro if you start in the whl and play a whole season if your Gould enough you should be able to play for your country in the world juniors

The poke checking the hitting and the goalies are changed penalties every time you poke check you slow down when you hit and the goalies are alot better there's improvement but stuff that needs to be changed back to how it used to be

Agree with everything here. Not being able to use legends in franchise mode was such a huge fail. Have seen some say it's not worth it because they would just retire after one year. But why not be able to set them to all be 18? Or 30? Or give the user some ability to make their own decisions about it? Just seems like EA is being greedy by making people pay real money to try to pack them in HUT.

I love playing the nhl games but they never seem to push the game from good to great they seem like they dont want to do to much and it is making it to where they dont do enough. Also why has the only significant thing to happen with be a pro was in nhl 10 and nhl 14.

Based om few games i played i think its very easy to lose puck at mostly every contact with enemy :/ i wasnt one of that guy who was spamming poke check, but i dont really like number of penalties you got from poke checking.. was used to play nhl with stylish gameplay, which cant continue with in 19 cause i lose puck everytime defenseman comes closer to me :/

Full disclosure, I don't play anything "online". I play Franchise (GM mode? I forget if it was name changed for this or not) mode, maybe I'll play Be a Pro for a change of pace, but that's it. As with all sports games, whenever there is a big leap forward or a giant change to a mechanic, there are massive improvements, things that were left behind that didn't make any sense, and and things that go way too far in one direction. Hitting. Actively hitting is ridiculous. I can hit Zdeno Chara with Johnny Gaudreau like Zdeno Chara would hit Johhny Gaudreau in real life. Every single time you hit it'd make a top 10 all time highlight real in real hockey. I hate it. But the passive hitting, bumping players off the puck, skating into players by mistake, that all feels amazing. Poke checking. Too far in one direction. Poke checking feels a little better, but it's not just that there is more penalties. At least 10 times in the couple days I've had it, a guy just falls down. Without a player being within a couple feet of them. I wasn't controlling the player, the computer didn't try and poke check they guy, he just fell over. Skating. It's a fantastic start. The turning and rapid changes are awesome. But straight away skating is bad. It's like you get flung out of a cannon for 2 strides, and then you're ground to a halt to let everyone catch up with you. At least with the old games you could skate as fast as your statistics would allow you if you kept to a straight line. In 19 skating statistics don't really matter at all. Everyone is just as fast as every other skater, no matter if they are a pylon in real life or you have giant statistics in game. Shooting. I'm not really a fan, but I have mostly simmed so far, I've only played maybe 2 or 3 games of actual gameplay so far. But I feel like I have no real control this year. Doesn't matter if you're Patrick Kane or a 55 enforcer, the control is the same. If you want to do this online where you are only as good as you actually are, ok I guess. But in against A.I. in game, Patrick Kane should do able to do just about anything at any time. He can pick a corner with a 4 inch opening. But even the best have the shooting ability of a gifted 10 year old in game. Knowing a players rating in the game is really frustrating. I should be able to know what all my players are at all times, I shouldn't have to make a scout scout my AHL team, AND STILL not even have all of them. I understand what they are doing in regards to the rest of the league and scouting specific players before you draft them, but hiding your own prospects even after you draft them/having been in your farm system for 2-3-4 years and still being hidden is absurd. Is you highly valued prospect a 50 bust and you should take that trade every single second, or an 75 hot shot? That should be getting some NHL minutes? No idea, his rating has been hidden since you drafted him 4 years ago. Couple little things. A), remind me about the scouts just like you have for every single game with scouting in it. The first season I didn't even realize you have to actively tell them to start scouting until it was almost the trade deadline. B), either put the scouting re-signing in a different tab when you re-sign players before free agency, or remind people to do it after you re-sign players. It's happened twice now because you're reminded at the same time as your players, then you try and deal with re-signing guys and what you're teams lineup needs to look like, and you forget about the scouts. C), more create a team logos, with appropriate names, and appropriate play by play names. It's happened again this year. You add a couple news logo, yet there isn't a play by name for it. You add 40 stupid and ridiculous names that no one would actually call a team, but there still isn't play by play names for logos you've had for 5 years now. Either force people to choose from a handful of decent pre created teams, or have all your options fit with each other. You have elephant and astronaut logos without having the having a single name available even remotely fitting either. Why? Even at the lowest point of selection, you still had this problem. I don't understand it whatsoever.

Content creator for EA here. The alumni / legend thing... Putting legends in franchise mode makes zero sense, they would retire after 1 year since they are all 38 years old +. Acquiring legends costs BIG money, having 200+ legends, alumni is only the beginning. Some players either want a trillion dollars to be in the game or declined to even take part. Give franchise more of a chance, fog of war really gets fun 5 years in. I agree with ones though. 100%

Good job! But for me, this game, this year is better than last year and ... well since 2015 (It was ugly), 2014 was the Nhl GAME! My opnion, I don't get it you rated Nhl18 8.5 and this year 8!? Personnal thought 2015 -3.5 , 2016 3.7, 2017 4, 2018 5 and this year : 7. I agree, the new skating mechanics feel very good. You are Fu... right abour NHL connected, it was The MODE! I miss Live the Life too, It was cool. Something that piss me off with nhl: Player progression with XP. The ea argument was.. It's unfair to make game with legend 3 versus rookie 1... But at the same time in NHL HUT. I guy can throw a bunch of money ang get very high overall players and compete against a guy with is best player has 82. So the argument is good for EASHL but not for HUT. I don't get it. But this year, it's a good step in the right direction,you can choose any template(Off or Def) and play whatever you want. You can also tweak your height and weight, add traits and perk, and thats ok. Finnaly, the reason i rates so low the other games since 2015. Theirs was no innovations since 2015, it's only a catch up for 2014. Even this year, missing GM connected and Live the life make the game incompleted. I didn't mention the physics is not poor, but no close from poor. Sticks can go throught the board, players (except for the legs) and goal cage. The rebound control is not good, your player is stuck into animation until the player stats kick in and let the animation goes. But this year the game is way better than any year on next gen concole.
